I am not reading the Chronological page by page, just checking the references by the readers. I would like to understand where they pulled his ass out of the fire, where he was referring to them as dumb muscle, because I haven't read these comics in ages, and that part came up this week and I was like who is this random guy and why did he kill one of my favorite characters? So that's a member of the SID, specifically, he was the one that the BPRD assisted during Ghost Moon. One of this guy's fellow SID members got his hands on a soul jar and was using it to steal souls from Chinese migrants. The BPRD was called in, and they basically solved the problem for him.
Then he went back to the Tower of London SID base and acted all smug with the SID leaders, saying the BPRD are, "Good in a tussle," but that they were ignorant of the real state of things.
This current event is after the SID got all high and mighty about Bruttenholme nosing around their old bases. So the Brits are hypocrites on top of being holier than thou cunts.
The base is the current home of the US' attempts to weaponize the supernatural. I always forget their name, but they are another factor in the occult cold war arc that the series is going through.

She's basically acting as head of the BPRD, right now. So she's so busy she doesn't realize that Mac died, and thinks Hellboy is just asking for a small favor, instead of wanting to talk and grieve about his dead dog.
In a previous story, Stegner while blind drunk, yelled that Hellboy has never actually lost anyone before. And keep in mind that Hellboy is only... what, in his late teens? He has no idea how to handle these emotions. So he goes down to Mexico, fights some monsters, and gets blind drunk.
And then Esteban happens.

Meanwhile the SID and the... CDRD (had to look that up) just fall to complete irrelevance.
