"Boo friggin' hoo! Like I'm supposed to take women and how they feel seriously? You wanna be accepted for your minds, but you throw a hissy fit royale if someone isn't saying you look 'great' thirty hours a day. You say you want a nice guy, but you only give it up to the creeps. You get to stay home, not go to war, live longer, and have sex whenever you want! So remind me again, exactly what is there to complain about?!"
"Boo friggin' hoo! Like I'm supposed to take women and how they feel seriously? You wanna be accepted for your minds...
Muh wage gap and thousands of other assorted imaginary problems, duckman.

Read it in his voice.
Too bad Jason Alexander can't do the voice without hurting his throat.
>You wanna be accepted for your minds
no they don't
>but you throw a hissy fit royale if someone isn't saying you look 'great' thirty hours a day.
I don't think chicks appreciate being leered at all day
>You say you want a nice guy, but you only give it up to the creeps.
if that were true then nerds and incels and 4channers would get laid
>You get to stay home, not go to war, live longer, and have sex whenever you want!
we haven't had a draft since WWII, living longer doesn't mean shit when you stay home all day and having sex with random average dudes kinda sucks
>So remind me again, exactly what is there to complain about?!"
most chicks have been sexually assaulted, have a higher rate of poverty, are paid less than men at the same job, are expected to stay pretty and thin to be taken 'seriously', can't walk anywhere alone without being leered at or attacked, are constantly harassed online by creepy dudes and have blood shooting out their vag every month
and they can't pee standing up
checkmate
women have it worse than men
replace WWII with Vietnam but that was still like 50 years ago lol
And not paying someone for the same job based on sex has been illegal since 1963.
Get a load of this guy
Didn't the USA finally start making women eligible for the draft?
So. Duckman was the original incel?
Mmmm.... signal that virtue harder son.
Keep it up and maybe some shaved-head feminist will let you clean up after Jamal.
Anyhow, I know this is kind of a troll thread, but I do want to say, I miss the days of irreverent cartoons, that actually called out hypocrisy all around, and didn't treat some groups as beyond being the targets of humor and observational jokes.
>Reddit spacing
>if that were true then nerds and incels and 4channers would get laid
Creep reporting in, go to the gym.
Martiage is dropping and women are getting desperate, you will get laid Wether you feel like it or not.
>we haven't had a draft since Vietnam
It's called the Selective Service now. And every 18 year old man legally has to sign up or face a quarter million dollar fine and jail time. They can start up a draft and put 18-25 year old men in to combat whenever they like. The rest of your post is too stupid to warrant a response.
Congratulations, Beta Male #629472: your enthusiastic and unwarranted defense of the female sex has earned you one White Knight Token to be exchanged for positive female attention! Remember, if you manage to collect ten White Knight Tokens you can exchange them for disappointing sex with the eligible female of your choice!
I love how Duckman says girls only give it up for creeps, but he frequently has dry spells and bitches love Cornfed. The only time Duckman acts normal, sweet or compassionate correspond with the times in his life where he also happens to get along well with women.
It's almost as if Duckman is a complicated person and his critiques, while funny, are not always meant to be accepted as accurate or fair by the audience. But nah, whatever, this website is populated by children who want to "own" feminists or whatever, so , I guess.
He had a wife (and kids) who showed up again in the last episode right after marrying someone else.
Imagine if another duckman roasted duckman.
it would be four hours of straight no pause ranting before they both kill themselves.
opinions are like assholes, yours is shitty because you don't wipe
>we haven't had a draft since WWII
American education.
>we haven't had a draft since WWII
*it aint me starts playing*
You know most women don't want to say they have it harder, They just want to be left alone, they usually hate guys like you. Since there's the nice guy creep which funny enough they'd rather an honest creep.
Fantastic bait. Absolutely excellent. 10 (You)'s and counting. You have a gift user, cherish it.
How did they get away with this?
All women...are queens!
>most chicos have been sexually assaulted
Most people to their entire lives without experiencing or even witnessing a violent crime once
How about you come Down to earth with is and realize that making men and women fight benefits neither and only serves to make some awful people rich
Well to be fair, American education DOES conveniently put the Vietnam War all the way in the back of the book so that no history class every actually gets to it. And the Korean War? No one who wasn't alive for it even knows it existed.
duckman was not supposed to be a voice of reason here, he was supposed to be an insensitive dumbass.
I'm surprised Korea doesn't get more focus given how relevant it is to modern politics and it also being a fairly "justified" war
Yeah and Rorschach was supposed to be unlikable right?
No, but he definitely was supposed to be wrong.
>liking Rorschach
>t. Veidt
Regardless of your personal opinion, he's the most liked character in Watchmen. So if the intentional was making him unlikable it was a failure.
Fuck it, taking the bait. You do realize that the whole point of this episode is that men and women are different and that's okay right? Duckman's whole speech here is just to highlight his stereotypical view of the female sex and give a foil to Bernice's view of the males. Then that gets subverted when the kids show that they don't give a fuck about any of that shit that the adults internalized and just want to get laid.
I can smell the flaps from here.
>being an insensitive dumbass lowkey makes you right in a day and age where feels matter more than they did
turns out not being wrong kind of makes you right?
Liking Rorschach is literally this. It's you not thinking the story through at all and taking only a surface level interpretation of it, or worse, idolizing someone just because they're an edgy outsider who knows what's REAL.
Again, it doesn't matter. The fact is he is popular. It being "wrong" to like him or whatever doesn't factor into this.
>most chicks have been sexually assaulted
>paid less than men at the same job
>can't walk anywhere alone without being leered at or attacked
If everyone jumps off a cliff, even though there is a sign that says, 'DO NOT JUMP OFF' does that make everyone right just because their interpretation is that it say, 'PLEASE DO JUMP OFF ME.'
buddy where do you think you are? your efforts are wasted here
its a cartoon?
i just want cartoons to be good again
i want to come to Yea Forums and talk about good cartoons and also shitpost and offtopic without it always being the same retrded fights between the same retarded people
life is shitty enough as it is who the fuck asked for all this shit? we where all better off before. Tumblr sttayed on tumblr, normies on facebook and reddit and trolls stayed on Yea Forums and Yea Forums
this placehas been terrible for over 5 years now
You're restricting the view of this example by reducing it to absurd scenarios
"everyone jumps off a cliff" is not an opinion or a will to, if it is your evil is to be found in what caused those "everyone" to start jumping off said cliff. Secondarily, if this happens enough for it to warrant a sign, that seems like it's either not as lethal/important of an issue to warrant physical and stricter solutions to the problem of people jumping off a fucking cliff.
Who's in the right? Me for writing this shit even if I didn't have to and could have just called you a faggot for making stupid examples to corroborate your skimpy understanding of the root problem of the topic, "liking" something is done strictly in a context and not without reason, and those reason, rather than the "liking" should be analyzed and judged, rather than the "liking" itself
>So, we have a situation where the deconstruction of traditional ideas of masculinity and femininity and the disavowal of the idea that they are biologically based, even though many of the critics now believe that they may well be, is part and parcel of the atomized and alienated world in which we find ourselves surrounded.
>Feminism has thus done much of the groundwork and the spadework for radical forms of libertarian individualism that it doesn’t really agree with, because much of the objectification of women that’s resulted in mass media is something that feminism’s been traditionally opposed to and yet has inexorably led to.
>I also think that a lot of men have taken advantage of the choices and expectations that feminism has aroused, and this has led to a general coarsening of relations between men and women which has occurred. People don’t like being done down or perceived that they have been and they often get back in niggardly and low-grade ways which are not too transparent or not necessarily courageous and I think there’s a degree to which that has also occurred. The traditional male role models did involve heroic and self-sacrificial elements even though, as in all human affairs, hypocrisy and banality doubtless played a part.
>But the degree to which many men feel relatively powerless in the present situation and somewhat embittered is again not a tendency that you can base political idealism on. People who are narrow-minded, feel they have a grievance, and are embittered may radicalize, but they may not necessarily be in a particular state to adopt a heroic attitude towards their radicalization, which is ultimately what you want.

That's three yikes, you're out!
This. The whole point of writing is to communicate an idea. If the audience gets a different idea than what the writer intended, it's because the writer FAILED to properly communicate the idea. Alan Moore can whine all he wants that Rorschach is supposed to be some crazy bum that no one in their right mind should like, but he's the one who wrote Rorschach as being the only person willing to stand up for the truth, even if the results are dire. He may be a crazy bum, but at the end of the story he was the only REAL hero, while everyone else was willing to go along with Ozy's shit in the name of the "greater good". I mean, who cares if eventually the world powers will figure out they've been lied to and decide to go back to war, we got peace right now, right? That was worth killing all those people, yep.
Rorschach was written as a crazy bum, and a creepy one at that. But by having him be the only one to stand up for the truth in the end, in a series that was all about finding out the truth behind what happened to the Comedian, tells every reader "Hey, this was the good guy!". Alan Moore was either too far up his own ass to see what he was portraying the character as, or is too far removed from your average person to understand how someone would see something like this. Which isn't too surprising for Moore.
kek
The cliff can be any height, it's not like the consequence for failing to understand the entire point is fatal, it's just you being wrong. You're not understanding the point of the story if you think Rorschach is anyway right. He only cares for his self centered view of black and white. His morality of personal slights is what drives him through out the story. You can 'like' Rorschach's skewed view of the world, you can 'like' a deranged outsider incel, but that doesn't mean it's right to do so. If you read the story, if you understand each character's place in the story, you shouldn't like Rorschach. Rorschach's dedication to his ideals would have killed the entirety of humanity, something even detached Manhattan saw. Even if, as Manhattan states before he left and Veidt's superhero persona alludes to, this is just a brief peace before the kingdom crumbles to dust: Rorschach's actions would have destroyed all of humanity now in pursuit of his own satisfaction. Ultimately, the differences between him and Veidt are little, both are egomaniacs driven by their selfish ideology, except one saved all of humanity until he died while the other would have doomed it in exchange for some good boy points.
War means nuclear destruction which means everyone is dead. Some people dead > Everyone dead.
The bombs got far closer to launching in reality than what was portrayed in Watchmen.
>him be the only one to stand up for the truth in the end
Rorschach spent the entire book chasing after a fantasy he had concocted in his head and refused to look into other possibilities. Dan was the one who figured everything out, and did so only a short while after being presented with Rorschach's information.
Given that Rorschach and Veidt are very much intentionally paralleled throughout the entire book, the only actual difference between the two is that Veidt wears a nicer suit.
>War means nuclear destruction which means everyone is dead.
And once they realize they were lied to, they go to war anyways. Instead of killing a bunch of people to create temporary peace, maybe they should have done something to actually fix the problem? I understand what Moore was TRYING to say, I'm saying he communicated it so poorly he actually ended up sending a different message altogether. There's absolutely no reason to believe the peace they got would have held, since it was all based on an enemy that doesn't actually exist. They needed to create a real peace, not one solely in effect due to a external threat.
For a better version of the same idea, check out Alan Dean Foster's The Man Who Used The Universe. In it, the MC forces peace between two species who did not want to get along by faking an attack from an external enemy. The difference is there actually is an external enemy, it's just a lot farther away and their species won't make contact for some time. So by the time they start questioning if the threat is real, they'll actually encounter it.
This as well. Everyone is willing to get close to the brink, but no one actually wants to launch nukes.
>bait!
>white knight!

You'd either be just as crazy as him, or able to filter out a nuclear apocalypse if you'd be able to tolerate his presence as a friend for long.
Been a while since I've read it, I thought Rorschach suspected it was one of their arch enemies at first, then started thinking it was one of their own after he interrogated that one old guy who got visited by the Comedian? Or was that the movie? I can't keep them straight anymore other than the ending.
You can like a character without having some self insert headcanon where you're friends with them.

Remove point 3, and you've just described a large portion of Yea Forums.
Too bad that's exactly what happens, where people actually side with him and think he was right in his actions and being "principled" to the point of risking re-escalating tensions between the Soviet Union and the United States after we've gotten glimpses of how the situation was deteriorating not too long before Veidt flipped the switch on the space squid.
Liking him as a character because he fits and moves the story along well is fine, liking him as a person isn't, he's objectively not a pleasant person.
Women do like getting looked at, but only by men they find attractive. Women have sex with assertive creeps, the incels that are creeps are betas. While the draft is not active, when in reference to military service is used, the phrase "our brave men and women" is always brought up, greatly over exaggerating the impact women have had on military service (that is not to say they haven't had an impact). If having sex with "random average dudes kinda sucks" then women shouldn't do it. "Most chicks" being sexually assaulted would mean at least 51%, and if we're only including Western women I doubt that's true. In the West there is also a huge campaign for accepting people that are not pretty, mainly concerning women.
What, you don't break into people's houses and eat their sugar cubes? What are you gay?

Every person in this thread has forgotten that Duckman is a terrible person.
Watching her last hope to get laid walk away at a pace she's too fat to match...Jiggles whips out her lightdildo. "Guess I know what I'M doing for the next 2 hours." she intoned sadly.
And? The Civil War happened 70 years before the US entered ww1. The draft is not a choice, if there was ever another need for it it would be brought back and women wouldnt be part of it.
Keep in mind that these days, sexual assault on a woman is as innocent as a guy a women doesn't find attracting making ANY physical contact with her, or asking her out.

They'd just rather get some pussy.
>They needed to create a real peace, not one solely in effect due to a external threat.
They can create a real peace by working together to combat an external threat. Especially since the problem in the book was that the 2 superpowers weren't working together because America was forcing their world view on everyone using Manhatten.
The only appropriate response is to let your down down.

I didn't even read this post. I scrolled down and saw "and they can't even pee standing up" and knew that was all I needed to get the full experience from this thread
>women have it worse than men
class determines privelige, not sex.
A woman of an equal class as a man will have fewer privileges within that class.
Which is why divorce courts commonly settle in favor of the woman, even in cases of female infidelity or abuse, right? Because they are so much less priviliged?
>sex whenever you want
Yeah, guys can have sex whenever they want too if they lower their standards enough
Let me tell you a story about a fella I went to school with. A boy named George Gibb. George couldn't run very fast, or throw very far, or hit, or catch. He was too small and weak. So we beat the crap out of him, sometimes three, four times a day. He enlisted to go to Grenada, determined to show he was man enough. Instead, he lost both his legs in a car accident on the way home from the recruiter's office. And if you don't win today, I swear to you I will go to George Gibb's home and beat that legless little bastard to a pulp, so, go out there, and win just one for the Gibber.
>and they can't pee standing up

No, Duckman was just a flawed human being. I'm pretty sure he'd hate incels for being creeps who use pity to get into women's pants.
Wow.
That was likely intended. Raw shark was meant to find it
this is hole new level of pathetic to be arguing with a fictional character, brabo user you just went of the spectrum.
