Sp spending a few mil to create multiple cuts to ensure that your franchise remains afloat for 10 more years regardless of whether CM does well seems like a pretty good insurance plan

I don't think they missed it, they just had to watch the movie before making judgments like these. Which is what happening every time they get stupid about trailers like Captain Marvel's and the whole "HERo" thing that clearly won't represent the actual movie.
And maybe I forgot, I remember being around on Yea Forums while the movie was under development and the discussions were level-headed for the most part. Now that you mention it, I do remember something like that, so I must have blocked it out.

Man, I just checked my local, third world country cinemas and they're all only Cap Marvel from thursday to sunday.

If there's an explanation for that, I'd like to know it.

It has been explained countless of times that cinemas don't update their schedule until this week, and what you're saying are the pre-scheduled showings that were approved for presales (something that isn't available for every movie that premieres).
My (third world) country cinemas don't have a presale approved so I can't buy tickets for Captain Marvel on Friday, therefore I can only see showings until this Thursday. By Thursday, they should update the schedule to show every function from Friday to Wednesday/Thursday, and assuming it works the same way for yours, you should wait until Thursday also.

I've bought tickets for other movies from those cinemas on a monday for a saturday or so, and it's never been like this.

I hope you're right in this case, and I'll check in the following days.

If it was a premiere then it's likely that's the case, but regular functions are usually scheduled from Monday to Thursday, allowing them to re-schedule depending on concessions for Friday premieres and so. Unfortunately I'll have to fight like a dog to get a function for the premiere this Friday, because the cinema company are shortsighted like that.

It's pretty prominent in tech companies. Women are "underrepresented" if you look at total numbers, but when you look at how many women actually graduate with some sort of programming degree, they're vastly overrepresented in the tech sector.

This assumes that women are under-qualified by default, with the roundabout logic to justify it being the lack of women in STEM in first place.
As usual, the argument thrown around is to give them to the most qualified person regardless of gender, but it's men who are usually sought out regardless of capacity, so generalities regarding statistical representation barely apply when localities still see heavy disparities in gender that don't correspond with skill.

It's not an assumption that women are less qualified on average for STEM jobs, because there are less women with qualifications for STEM jobs, because there are less women who pursue STEM degrees, you retarded feminist. It's simply the most pronounced in IT fields, where there are a ridiculously higher number of women in IT compared to how many women actually have any sort of degree in anything IT related.
I would encourage everyone to at the very least minor in a STEM field, because they're great.
I would also encourage any woman who majors in "gender studies", who unironically complains about how more women don't major in STEM, to kill themselves.
