Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast are the best, nothing else in the Renaissance touches them. Little Mermaid is just dull, pretty like its protagonist but just like her completely hollow. Not even peak Menken and Ashman songs can salvage Ariel. Great Mouse Detective is better in every way as an actual film. Lion King is a way less interesting film after Simba reaches adulthood, Pocahontas is boring and preachy, Hunchback is great in spite of its massive flaws. Nothing else is worthy of attention except for the Emperor's New Groove, which is more of a feature length Warner Bros. cartoon than a Disney movie.

if Belle’s usual dress was that shade of purple instead of the blue it’d be fine. but the bubblegum pink top throws the whole thing off. Sure pink’s an analogous color to purple but that shade really doesn’t suit a fair complexion. the subtler colors in her winter outfit are a much better look.

Honestly, having rewatched all the 2d renaissance disney movies, Lion King and Aladdin really are a cut above everything else. Best cast. Best stories. Best songs. Little Mermaid was weak in a lot of places. Beauty and the Beast had only Gaston as the only stand out character, belle and the beast were both boring as shit and the songs were largely weak.
