I think the 9 panel grid is the most aesthetically pleasing way to read comics, and I will actively go out of my way to see if books are in the 9 panel grid before buying or reading them.
Am I autistic?

Naw you're good dude, 9 panel grids are great as long as they are utilized well.
Just so you know, Tom, Watchmen didn't have all it's pages in 9 panels.
No it didn't, but if there's a big panel, it would take up the amount of space as a 2-3 panels or whatever
depends on the artist, but yeah, there's a feeling of depth and action and a bit more bang for your buck
plus it's fun to pick out the details, occasionally having to tilt your head a bit to work out what's going on
>9 panels
>page has clearly 10
You're not just autistic, you're retarded.
Fucc
Does the textblock count? It could belong to the 9th panel.
And as far as i remember wasnt did the 9 panel just a main focus point and often neglected for effect puprose?
9 panel grid, like any numbered panel grid, can be pretty eye pleasing if used right. Personally I like it when artists use it for action or to show passage of time, sometimes to even frame certain subjects.
I hate it, hate it, when artist use it to cut paste the same panel on it and nothing interesting is happening.
But really you can make anything aesthetically pleasing depending on how you do it, pic related.
Always liked that staircase. It allows such a nice redirection of the reading flow!
You’re pretty autistic
Paneling is part of the medium and locking down anything to one style is waste of the medium.
Or 11 if you count the 'panel' the rest are contained in.
>It could belong to the 9th panel
It's clearly separated by a gutter.
*cough* Mitch Gerards *cough*
This is why comics will never match manga.
Yeah you're probably autistic but you're not wrong. If you haven't already you should seek out everything Frank Santoro's written about layouts and grids.
You must tear down walls and lines in your head.
But yeah you are right.
You should read the intro pages to Fearscape 1
and why is "center" important?
It's being overdone lately
thank you.
seems like a lot of bullshit but i'll give it a try.
did he draw on an actual romita book? that triggers me.
