Well, what happened with The Flash is that Lord and Miller were originally attached to direct it, and their idea was to bring in AU Flashes. With the DC Cinematic Universe being what it is, they eventually left and took the idea to Sony.

The AU idea works much better for an animated Spider-Man film, anyways, since the idea that anyone can be Spider-Man goes back to the Ditko stories. And the Flash simply doesn't have the same position in pop culture.

I can actually see that working. pretty nice move although I WOULD like the movie to stay more grounded and have a street-level villain or even two of them as the main antagonists. hopefully, they don't blow their load with Reverse Flash immediately
