Think about it, why would they have an almost legal adult on a team where the whole premise is that they are kids becoming adult superheroes? She could still be the voice of reason without being significantly older that the rest of the kids. But Mary is one of those character that artist love to have almost naked all the time. From the look at the old map, it appears The Gamelands used to be the old style labyrinth and whatnot. One could assume the realm, like the others, magically adapts to what happens on Earth. It's possible that these seven realms are tied to Dream's realm, and are constantly changing depending on what mortals imagine.

I seem to recall Mary being seventeen way back in Formerly Known as Justice League/I can't Believe its not the Justice League, so I'm not really angry about her age too much. I would prefer her and billy to be twins, but It's not that big a deal. I still hope they reveal her to be Billy's biological sister even though they're not twins in this continuity. I'm more bothered by the fact Mary's costume is red instead of white. I'm also hoping they fix and have her change her costume to white.

Bromfield was the traditional surname from her adopted foster parents in previous continuities, so its just kind of a holdover.
