Was good until Rotworld, Soule did a good job rehabbing things after that.

The exception proves the rule

Same for Animal Man, made a recovery after it finished. It did give us GL Frankenstein though. Rotworld would make for a cool animated movie at least.

Green Arrow was a dumpster fire till Lemire and Sorrentino came on board. Then they left and we got werewolf boy.

New 52 was great for everything one but the A listers.

Was Rotworld really that bad? It's been a while since I read it but I can't remember anything grossly offensive about it

Savage Hawkman says hello!

Rotworld started great. It just took like 8 months to get out of it and really stopped all momentum on Animal Man.

>but the A listers.
Wonder Woman was good.

Soule-Thing was great. I miss when he was on Red Lanterns and Swamp-Thing. Back to back weeks of good stuff. Then he went to Marvel and just put out below average stuff.

I liked Snyder's Batman even with it kind of felt like a more accessible version of Morrison's run

It was okay on its own. The problem is that Swamp Thing and Animal Man were both doing great and then Rotworld brought in a crossover event with Frankenstein Agents of Shade and Justice League Dark. It felt like a summer blockbuster interrupting these stories that are otherwise self-contained. The consequences led to some emotional storytelling in Animal Man at least. I don't recall the effect it had on Swamp Thing.

Aquaman was also pretty solid. Flash had top tier art albeit a boring story.

I found Aquaman quite mediocre. Not bad but not remarkable at all.

Demon Knights was fun
Green Arrow after Lemire took over
Wondy
Dial H
Aquaman
Forever Evil
Vibe was okay

>and Justice League Dark
That wasn't involved and Frankenstein was just Tie ins that could have been ignored

Needs more jpeg

I definitely recall Constantine, Zatanna, Black Orchid, etc showing up to talk to Buddy and his family. They showed up at some point. I recall Beast Boy, Poison Ivy, etc showing up too.

Oh I thought you meant the actual book. Yeah Constantine was in it but he's not exactly out of place in a Swamp Thing story

fuck you I liked it

It's going to read fine now, but if you were reading the books as they came out, everything slowed to a crawl because one book got ahead of going into it before the other one did.

I couldn't have cared less, i was only interested in the main animal man plot but this filler event came up, maybe if i read the swamp thing series i would be more invested but i was in the middle of reading animal man, at least the ending had consecuences in that title so reading the event paid off after all

Reminder that Snyder's Batman, Snyder's Swamp Thing, Lemire's Animal Man, Azzarello's Wonder Woman, Johns' Aquaman, Blackman's Batwoman, and a few others were all being made already following Brightest Day, and that they had to be postponed for their release to match the New 52 reboot.

I've been meaning to check this one out. It's the only horror New 52 book I haven't read.

I hated it when it crossed over with Justice League Dark and made no sense.

Not entirely true. Azz only took WW because Didio told him what the plan for WW was if he didn’t, and it was so awful that Azz decided to do a run on the character. Snyder’s Batman was originally going to star Dick Grayson.

I wish it had. Dick's nightmares of that whale doing the I'M A SHARK SUCK MY DICK meme in the Black Mirror seemed way better written than most of his Bruce run.

Meh I kinda liked the vampire invasion of Gotham with Cain the first vampire.

Ashame that Cain pretty much fucked off for good after his brief introduction in the I,Vampire/JLD crossover and the 2 issues with him in Demon Knights.

>day feel when well never get more adventures of the DK gang

Azz was going to follow JMS' run on the character book, that reboot the book once he started and then rebooted the book once again when he ended. So Azz reboot was a distinct thing.

Demon Knights sucked ass and ruined a lot of the characters. Because of it now Ystin will probably be never shown as the cute tomboy, needing instead to be portrayed as the quipster hemafrodite.

No one's going to show Ystin outside of that Ragman issue anyways. Nobody at DC cares with or without Demon Knights (which I liked even if the book took a nosedive once Vendetti replaced Cornell).

Tell that to Xanadu, who's been portrayed as Jason Blood/Etrigan's bitch ever since Demon Knights.

Gone but not forgotten

I wish this lasted a little longer. I remember the Beowulf backup being even better.

I feel like Xanadu has barely even been around though. It's too soon to say Demon Knights ruined her. I'm in the "Demon Knights is fun" camp and it's not amazing but I was just happy to see Etrigan and Xanadu used some more.

>and it was so awful that Azz decided to do a run on the character
And then they gave it to the Finchs, so it ended up being awful anyway.

Rebirth Arrow with Percy was pretty decent at least, and it respected Lemire's lore reasonably well though I wish we got more Outsiders

ASW had a lot more stumbles than its predecessor and stuck around in Gotham far too fucking long, but it had its moments and gave us a fitting goodbye to Hex.

I prefer a handful of amazing books with the rest being mediocre to awful over just three books being good-to-great while the rest is aggressively mediocre, like what we're getting with Rebirth.

what happened to Vibe after the new 52 though?

Was a lot better after rotworld

But was it as good as Tomasi's Superman, Humphries GLs or Abnett's Aquaman, the best books of Rebirth?

look the new 52 had some fantastic high points.
>morrison Action
>a Swamp thing book that had both snyder and soule, and ended being pretty dope actually
>sorrentino on horror and GA
>azz and chiang on WW
>tomasi's Batman and robin
>actual attempts at something new with demon knights/reserruction man/dial h
>johns and parker doing a solid aquaman
>freaking animal man
these all served as fun, interesting and entertaining intros to characters, which was kinda the point. the rebirth books are great (i'd add new superman, deathstroke, red hood and supersons as books that are possibly better than the ones you suggested. i did thoroughly enjoy the 3 you suggested tho)

Morrison's action sucks

Jesus , get some standards...
