Some of it is liften directly from the book, but marvel chickend out on much of the stuff. Like Larrys mother saying he "Sounds like a nigger". King really throws the word nigger around in the stand, both with the characters but also the narrator for some reason.

Obviously a bunch of stuff got taken out either for space, pacing, or a bunch of other reasons, but the point is I don't remember the supposed writer adding anything new that justifies that title.

Even if they're doing all they can to stay true to the source material, somebody has to decide what works in the new format and what has to be changed or dropped. That's understood to be the role of a writer of an adaptation. The story is still Stephen King's.

Thanks OP I had a cold when I first read the book. I like King's books but that was the only time reading one ever really scared me, and boy did it ever.
