The edgiest its ever been. Not even saying that as a point of derision, but I literally cannot think of something that tries to be edgier than this, so now I compare other edgy things only in relation to how they stack up against it.
Serious opinion, though, its an amateur but really admirable venture of someone making unapologetically hardcore content in animation and finding a way to get it out to people.

Very boring.
I liked some parts of it (mostly the war vet flashback and "HE'S WATCHING YOU AND HE LOVES YOU"), but most of the movie is just dull, leaving you with the only emotion of "oh, ok, that happened". I'm convinced that everyone who's treating it as some despicable piece of Satan shit is either a pussy or exaggerating for comedic effect.
When Black Birds Fly by the same author is better. I recommend watching that if you haven't already.

Based beyond belief. I do remember watching a review of this movie, made by a faggot called bobsheaux: Cringey overreacting, personal jabs at the creator saying he's a psychopath and a sexist, and overall just being an insufferable whiny prick. The worst part of all it, is that he's cleary serious.

I'm closely connected with the Unearthed Films guys (think 2 degrees of Kevin Bacon) and they overcharge the fuck out of their movies but get away with it because they're the only market outside the Japanese that sell this specific kind of horror. For example Ichi the Killer is a very popular title amongst horror and foreign film fans, and some might even discover there was a prequel. However this prequel (I'm pretty sure) only saw US distribution through Unearthed, because it turned out to be a shitty no-budget movie. They show up at all the local conventions and sell for double what most the other vendors do, and some vendors think they can charge more because these guys are doing it, so why not?

As far as "one guy making an entire feature film pretty much by himself" goes, Mdotstrange is way better.
Granted Heartstrings Marionette is also edgy as fuck, but it does have some genuinely cool stuff going for it that feels like some artistic effort was put into it instead of just trying to be as shocking as possible.

Also to be fair, without Erika behind the music Heartstrings would have been way worse (as we saw with the uberector cut), so he definitely deserves some credit.

We are the Strange drags on a lot, but its interesting. I Am Nightmare's comparable to like a ghibli movie mixed with silent hill, its probably the most straightforward of his films. Has a really weird reverse birth vore scene, though, don't know what was up with that.
He put all his work up on youtube years ago, they're worth a watch.
