H-Hey guys? I know you're all focused on Captain Marvel, Shazam, Avengers: Endgame but remember My Film's coming out on April 12th in IMAX! Please see it... I'm begging you!
HellBoy (Remake)
We already did. It was directed by Del Toro and starred Ron Perlman and it was perfect. This one is like that remake of Robocop that nobody asked for.
It's not looking promising, my man.
>and it was perfect
Let's just be honest here. It was great but still had it's flaws.
It's not a remake or a reboot, it's a new adaptation. A remake or reboot implies it will do the same retarded shut del Toro did to fuck up the mignolaverse. This is coming from a Del Toro fan, but after reading the comics, he fucked up.
Go back to CBR and YouTube filthy casual
>scouring clips for that one freeze frame where character looks derpy and akward to use out if context to prove you whiney bitch point
*slow clap*
This. Not everything about the scripts for those movies was great, but the VFX and prosthetics were great, as was the fight choreography, and the characters were likable. It felt distinct in its identity, which is more than I can say for this new one, which seems to be trying a cheap imitation of the MCU formula.
GIS Hellboy 2019, second row. Not exactly 'scouring'.
It's not cherrypicking, he genuinely looks awful in any shot where you can see his face.
It looks like they use that scene where he kills those giants in England. I have a few issues with this:
1. Its pretty late in the story. Are they trying to tell the whole story in one movie? Its going to miss out a lot or go too fast.
2. The giant fight scene seems to be a 'funny' scene in this movie. The way I read it in the comics, that fight was one of the lowest points in hellboys life. How a person can read that thing and decide to make it humorous, I will never understand.
I'm confused, why do people hate this?
I really want to believe, but that trailer didn't help
Only room for Alita in my heart right now, you miserable drunkard.
Because they're normie faggot who never read a mignola comic and think del Toro did a good job
They should r just done an adaptation of Conqueror Worm with and in it it’s git so much excuse to go crazy
Mega-Satan is right, we need more fun nazi-hijinks in movies.
Hopefully the film's atmosphere won't be trying to be like Thor Ragnarok as the trailer did
The animation for Hellboy in the Injustice 2 game was pretty spot on. An animation in the style they did for that game would've been great
Reminder that this film was already supposed to have released. Whoever decided to move between Shazam and Endgame should be shot
>Love Hellboy 1
>Wasn’t a fan of Golden Army
>Love the animated movies
>Got into the comics and love them
>Ten years since a Hellboy movie
>Promises to hit the darker, more dry tone of the comics
>Promises to take more from the comics than Del Toro, which in turn opens up possibilities
>Hype up the practical effects
>Trailer is literally 2 minutes of “We want the MCU audience”
>Hellboy’s face looks awful
>Broom is now an asshole who uses Hellboy as a weapon instead of a caring father who wanted to prepare his son, and now Hellboy hates him
>Mika Jovovich, a walking block of wood, is our villain after we had a kickass Rasputin and Nuada
>Extremely dull kung fu fighting scenes
I can’t ever get something good.
Are you me?
This stinks.
Daily reminder that Del Toro could use his Oscar clout to get Hellboy 3 made now if Mignola didn't throw him under the bus for this quick MCU knockoff cash grab
>user huggin a trashcan made of heckboi reboot.
then why its the same tone?
why isn't like the comics at all?
Because it is a failure
Problem is Perlman is pretty old at this point and carrying a bunch of prosthetics glued to your body isn't recommended to a man his age.
Maybe if they went full Hellboy in Hell and had him as these wrinkled reflection of his past self mostly hanging around dark corners and shit it could work
Its okay user, del toro now can make stop motion animation in netflix.
WE SHOULD WANT THAT.
Perlman has been begging to do this movie for a decade. It didn't happen because the studio wouldn't give Del Toro the money he needed to complete his story and then Mignola rebooted without him. The end.
One of the reasons why he was begging was "I'm getting old guies I won't be able to this forever".
>Stop motion Pinocchio adaptation about rise of fascism in Italy co-written with Patrick McHale of OtGW
Get in
>Trailer is literally 2 minutes of “We want the MCU audience”
I mean who can blame him?
the other movies didn't made crazy bank, Mignola
just wants an early retirement now that comic making lost its luster.
The art part is done. finito. now its the cash-in time.
Both movies were profitable and I sincerely doubt that a man who has been spearheading his own extremely succesful indie hit for 30 years will be in financial needs.
Hell I remember he sold some lithographies I think? for 600 bucks quicker than I could open the website selling them, and they weren't even Hellboy related.
One thing is Ron Pearlman is built like a caveman so the horns fit great on his head.
Another is guillermo del toro, has done a lot of monster movies so I'm sure he has got people. Also he adds little artistic flare. Compare this right hand to the new one
What a stupid post. A Hellboy movie that is true to the comics could work and could be amazing, all it takes is actually having the balls to make something original. Fuck this attitude and fuck Mignola for trying to trick his fans.
Yeah but is it never working again money?
cause a shitty mcu pandery movie with horrid effects but mass appeal sounds like never working again money.
How much do you even think it's "never work again" money, if McFarlane could retire with two years of big two money there is no way one of the most licensed indies in the history of comic books.
And a third to the game
>BPRD is not a secret organisation and magic is seen as a regular thing in this movie
It's already closer to the comics then del Toro
You need a better image to make your point
Why does Hellboy look like a crack addict?
This but I found Hellboy 1 okay while I loved Golden Army.
>Please see it... I'm begging you!
Beg away. Not interested.
In quality or movie still?
>Ron Pearlman is built like a caveman
Q.E.D.
I hated Ragnarok >:(
...In what way does he look like a crack addict?
Feels like they're adapting 2-3 different plots into one from the trailer. Wait and see territory for me. Neither Perlman nor Harbour are perfect Hellboys in my head so I 'm neutral on that. We'll see how Daimio works out. There's a Lobster Johnson scene so again - could work out. I like the new Hellboy's Crown and Sword more than del Toro's but I think I prefer del Toro's CGI overall. Comparing say the Plant Elemental vs the Giants here or the Golden Army.
Movie still or an image from the glove at a convection, like the one you used for the Del Toro movies.
I wasn't too crazy about it, either, but imagine what a fully serious version of that movie would have been. Christ, that would have been depressing.
How come? I'm not much of an MCU fan but it's probably the best Kirby movie I've seen.
Perlman will blame drumpf if the movie bombs
This isn't Yea Forums. Leave.
Not him, but for me It made Thor another quiplord. That's mine main gripe with it
this hand straight up looks like a rendering of a Mignola drawing
this one looks like a early skeleton of the del toro one
Because Thor before wasn't working out with anybody and now he's everyone's favorite "Strongest Avenger"
That's fair. I go into MCU movies expecting that, I like this one because it had impressive Kirby visuals as well unlike most of them
Something about his eyes and general hobo look.
The visual style of the Del Toro films was great, and Pearlman was perfect, but the writing was utter shit. Im legit glad he didn't get to make a third one because the story he laid out for it sounded terrible.
>image from the glove at a convection
As far as I know the new hand hasn't been to a convention
Fuck this shit movie, I just finished Hell on Earth and holy fucking shit, I get that it seemed to slow down in the end but Based Mike fucking delivered with Johann turning into fucking god[/spoiiler]
Is the Devil You Know just as good? Also, I kinda missed on the Visitor, Black Flame, Koschei and Rasputin series. Should I track them down?
Then it's an unfair comparsion, either post both hands from the movie or post both hands from a convention stand.
What story did he lay out?
I've seen people say Hell on Earth isn't as good as Plague of Frogs but I completely disagree.
That's what My Father said After watching the Trailer.
The Visitor is completely pointless and I have no idea why they made it, it answers absolutely no questions about anything and just wastes your time with pointless romance and shit.
Koschei is great. Rise Black Flame is even better. Rasputin is also worth reading.
Hellboy looks alright for me, but everyone and everything else is just full of red flag.
U mad, Yea Forums virgin?
It's really good, the problem is, when Plague of Frogs started, it's already tying up knots from day one, giving you context on shit laid down on Hellboy, Witchfinder and Lobster. Hell on Earth, while keeping up with the knot-tying, also sets up a lot of stuff we haven't even been told of (one thing that comes to mind is that huge Abe kaiju that killed an Ogdru Hem in Japan, wtf was that), but I'm confident Mignola will deliver in time because, you know, his track record is fantastic, specially considering what he set out to do.
Since the whole universe will be wrapped up in Devil You Know 15, I don't think there's that much closure coming out.
So, they'll never even come close to explain Abe's role in all this shit or he was just an early attempt at a frog-commander and I missed that?
Does Mignola even actually write these post-Hellboy stories and minis? I tried doing a complete universe read through and had to stick to the core title because a lot of them began to feel like fanfic.
>Star posting
Go back
*raises paw*
to where?
Somewhere you can yiff in hell, furfag.
They really should have tried to bring back Thor as he was in Thor 1. Driven and serious, but prone to a lot of fish out of water humor. Shit like Thor getting excited when he sees he's fighting the Hulk was a perfect example of them getting Thor humor right. Thor 3 felt like they had a minimum quips/minute they had to adhere to and it felt off. I had it ranked slightly above Thor 2 in the MCU as far as overall quality, because of how jarring it felt having Thor quip every two minutes until Jeff Goldblum showed up. Only reason it was higher then 2 was because of Thor actually growing as a character, which of course backslides the moment Avengers came out.
The fact that it seems like it was made into a day-time scene should speak volumes.
It's was literally a remake of Hellboy 1 but with babies.
