>“Everything after Endgame, and after Spider-Man: Far From Home, will be different and be unique, as we try to make every film. But seeing returning characters is certainly something we’re gonna do and want to do. But also introducing characters that the majority of the world has never heard of, much like Guardians, much like Avengers before we made Avengers. And there are lots of them. Eternals are one group, but we like the idea of introducing an ensemble, doing an ensemble movie from the start, as opposed to building up as we did with the first Avengers. More like Guardians, not tonally, but in terms of introducing a new group of people. You were asking about ’60s, and ’70s before. Jack Kirby did an immense, amazing epic with Eternals that spans tens of thousands of years, and that’s also something we haven’t really done, which is why that among many other things post-Endgame, we find appealing.”
I still can't believe that this is a thing that is actually getting made.
It sounds interesting to be sure but I'll wait and see how it looks after it's been run through the assembly line, chewed up, and spit out.
Ryder Murphy
How are they doing eternals after establishing Thanos and Drax are random aliens with no relation to Earth?
Easton Gonzalez
I don't trust them because I have no reason to. I trust James Gunn because he earned it. Feige has done nothing to prove that he and his yes men can make an Eternals movie.
Henry Roberts
DC is making a new God’s movie, that’s why
Jackson Harris
So what else are they going to introduce besides Eternals?
Ayden Richardson
Starlin retconned the Titans to being Eternals. A pretty early retcon IIRC but it definitely wasn't part of the original conception of either Kirby's Eternals or Starlin's Titans. They're only related by virtue of Kronos originally coming from Earth. Otherwise the two groups don't interact.
Sebastian Jackson
A few months ago news sites reported that Marvel was thinking of doing a Shang-Chi, Master of Kung-Fu movie.
Pretty sure Feige's been talking about Eternals longer
Isaiah Reyes
Nobody cares about the new gods
Nathan Baker
More people care about the New Gods than care about the Eternals.
Ryder Wright
Not after the movie.
Nathaniel Wood
What movie? Eternals has less than zero stock, most of Yea Forums doesn't even know it let alone casuals
Easton Turner
that should be a tv serie
Charles Scott
The movie mentioned in the OP dumb illiterate user.
Jace White
The absolute biggest thing is they must not look cheap & small scale like the Thor movies (especially Ragnarok).
They need to have the detail & authenticity of Krypton in Man of Steel just with alot more color.
Tyler Young
Kinda seems that Marvel is moving away from "super heroes" towards just people with powers. Like no one has secret identities, masks, or anything like that anymore. The recipe is now diverse person + cosplay-ready outfit + special effects sequence = Marvel """character."""
Jeremiah Watson
>"Guardians of the Galaxy has less than zero stock, most of Yea Forums doesn't even know it let alone casuals" >user, 2013
Elijah Rivera
>unique Now I know that everything after Endgame will be shit. None of those movies feel unique. In fact, even the most unique ones (GotG and BP) felt generic in their execution for some odd reason. I don't know whether it's the horrible CGI, the greyish colours, or the story but everything feels the same at this point because the execs have their say in every movie. Ffs, just let the directors do their own thing as was the case in Phase 1. Those movies stand out as still being superior than almost every Phase 2 and 3 movie except for maybe WS. What a fucking shame
Easton Ramirez
And? How is that a response? I wouldn't have tried to argue that GotG is more popular than the New Gods before the movie came out because it simply wasn't
Jace Edwards
There's nothing wrong with "cheap and small scale", if anything it makes the movie more cozy, we don't need to copy Zack Snynder's DC movies...
Jose Thompson
> Kinda seems that Marvel is moving away from "super heroes" towards just people with powers. Marvel just got back the Xmen and Fantastic Four so they are definitely not moving away from superheroes.
Christian White
GotG was a well worn IP compared to Eternals. The former got cameos in cartoons, other comics, were frequently and heavily involved in cosmic events, etc. while the latter is probably a step below Miracle Man in terms of exposure.
Jordan Barnes
Do you actually believe the X-Men will be getting multicolored costumes with masks? Or that F4 won't wear cosplay jumpsuits?
Adam Ward
> X-Men will be getting multicolored costumes with masks? Or that F4 won't wear cosplay jumpsuits? Yes one of the biggest complaints of the singer X men were that the costumes looked nothing like the comics. Feige will 100 percent make sure the X men look color like the comics. Why would he get the franchise back and do the exact same awful shit as Fox and he will do the same for Fantastic Four.
Joseph Stewart
>Do you actually believe the X-Men will be getting multicolored costumes with masks? It's certainly possible. Not that the X-Men are famous for identity-hiding masks to begin with >Or that F4 won't wear cosplay jumpsuits? ...what else should the F4 be wearing?
Jaxson Ramirez
>Like no one has secret identities, masks, or anything like that anymore To be fair, after the Silver Age ended, Marvel comics characters with actual secret identities became less and less common, and some characters that used to have them like Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America abandoned them. Nowadays, only the Spider-Men, Daredevil, and Ms. Marvel really have secret identities.
Eli Kelly
>Asian Kung fu movie Bravo Feige.
Brayden Hall
I honestly thought this was just a plan to secure funding for something else, while just using Eternals as a cover. Is this going to be the most obscure propriety they're adapting to date? (They got what, 50 issues focused on them? GotG old and new got something like 100 between them, right?)
Hunter Cruz
I wonder how much of this came out of Ike going off the deep end with Inhumans. Back in the early days of phase 2 they were talking about plans to do an Inhumans movie around the time of CM/A3 that was going to be an epic of royal intrigues and shit, but then Ike went nuts and the TV and film divisions essentially split apart with Ike still feverishly trying to force Inhumans to happen, it gets taken off the film release schedule and turned into the abortion of a series we got instead.
I wonder if this is a response/recycling of ideas by Feige now that Ike has no control over the films. I mean they're obviously different stories but there's enough parallels to make me curious if there's a story behind the scenes.
Jonathan Jenkins
I guesd Marvel TV poisoned Iron Fist, I rather have Moon Knight or Tbolts than this for Street or Earth heroes.
I don't know much about the Eternals except from what I've seen in the Avengers comics so I am pretty whatever about them. I rather see Nova, Quasar (which won't happen anytime soon with Carol having quantum based powers), Fantastic Four, Darkhawk, or Silver Surfer.
Or heck expand on the magic/occult stuff with Ghost Rider, Damion Hellstrom, Elsa Bloodstone, or Weirdworld shit.
Easton White
Other than both being created by Jack Kirby, the Eternals and the Inhumans don't have that much in common.
Jaxon White
I really do seriously want this
Ian Morgan
>Do you actually believe the X-Men will be getting multicolored costumes with masks? I have a money bet
William Wilson
They fill a similar narrative niche, though, of being tales of gods and kings told as scifi just next door to Earth's superhero shenanigans.
Joseph Lewis
Not exactly, they did have some encounters, in fact the Eternals helped the Inhumans relocate Attilan to the Himalayas, and by then the Inhumans were still sort of in their "infancy", amazed at the technological advancements of the Eternals.
Gonna dump the story, it's a short one, written by Peter Gillis.
I've been reading a lot about Eternals lately and I'm surprised at how prominent they used to be back in the day, only to fade into obscurity during the 00's. Ever since it was rumored a movie about them, I've been becoming more of a fan.
Forgot to mention, this short story (and the second part of it) is part of a series of short stories also written by Mark Gruenwald, which basically bridged Kirby's Eternals with the rest of the Marvel Universe.
Iron Fist should've gotten a movie and Shang-Chi should've been on Netflix. He can be pulled off on a Daredevil type budget.
>I guesd Marvel TV poisoned Iron Fist,
I sincerely really hope not for the long-term. I really don't want Iron Fist to go the way of the Inhumans. Danny is a great character and he has some really fun mythos, flashy powers and great supporting characters/villains.
Fiege has said how they have been working on Iron Fist since as long as Dr Strange/GotG/Ant-Man. Maybe one day we'll get a reboot.
>I rather have Moon Knight or Tbolts than this for Street or Earth heroes.
Have you read Master of Kung Fu? Shang-Chi is like Bruce Lee meets espionage. Could be fun.
Michael Peterson
A few more pages until the first part of this side-story.
Actually no, there wereother "Untold Tales" before this one, written by Mark Gruenwald, in which he explains first how the Celestials came to Earth and created the three species we know (as well as introducing the X-gene stealthily), and then another tale where the first Uni-Mind happened, the rift between Zuras and Uranos (and the death of Cronos), the Uranian Eternals... I can dump those afterwards.
Inhumans and Eternals flying together, bitches. I feel that after Endgame, people won't be having these dumb power level discussions once races like the Eternals are introduced. It would render them pointless.
>tfw we live in a world where fucking Shang-Chi is getting a big budget movie despite popping up once every five years >Iron Fist relegated to canceled shitty tv show and brand tarnish for a least a couple of years
Is being an Iron Fist fan truly the ultimate suffering?
>Like no one has secret identities, masks, or anything like that anymore
good, that shit was the worst parts of older comic book movies.
Noah Smith
Rocket Raccoon appeared in that MvC fighting game, the team made appearances on Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon, etc. They were more visible to the public than Eternals.
Evan Hernandez
I agree, but specially the X-Men, I feel they might cameo in other movies from the start, but "Uncanny X-Men" won't be happening anytime soon.
I wonder what Shang-Chi is going to bring to the table in Phase 4? All of his thematic elements are covered by other MCU characters. Black Widow has espionage. Captain America has fighting.
Maybe this is for China? Shang-Chi is their most prominent Asian character.
>Rocket Raccoon appeared in that MvC fighting game I think that was after they annouonced GotG was getting a movie though
>I wonder what Shang-Chi is going to bring to the table in Phase 4? Kung-fu action flick
Colton King
Big Her-oh wait.
Nathan Foster
Almost done... Here we see Sprite again (after ), he's one of the characters who apparently is being cast for the Eternals movie which might show up before in Endgame or Captain Marvel, in a post-credits scene.
Ava's New Gods movie is guaranteed trash. It's Warner Bros after all. Why bother?
Blake Perez
>>I wonder what Shang-Chi is going to bring to the table in Phase 4? >Kung-fu action flick
but what is he going to bring to the larger MCU?
Ayden Ramirez
Steppenwolf didn't look like one of the New Gods and more like generic monster, I doubt WB has it in them to replicate Kirby's colors and designs. Aquaman feels almost like a fluke, considering how colorful and dynamic it was. We'll see I guess.
Luke Morris
Earth X movie when?
Ethan Barnes
Shang-Chi
Basically since Ike Perlmutter ruined Inhumans and Iron First with Marvel TV, they're gonna use the Eternals and Shang-Chi instead
Ayden Torres
>Like no one has secret identities, masks, or anything like that anymore.
None of them have in the entirety of the MCU except for Spider-man.
Adam Howard
Probably the only ones who will have secret identities will be the younger heroes, like Kamala or maybe Sam Alexander if they ever bring him to the MCU.
Michael Morris
Got a feeling Vision and Scarlet Witch series will expand on the mystic stuff with Chthon and Agatha Harkness.
Eli Watson
He was in MVC3, way before GotG.
Nolan Cook
I feel like Fiege does keep these backup contingency plans in case some shit happens. Like he had talked about Iron Fist movie for years, but he had to know if something were to go wrong, he had Shang as back up.
Liam Phillips
>GotG old and new got something like 100 between them, right? Assuming we're talking pre-Bendis then there were 87 total GOTG issues. If you count the original team's first appearance in Marvel Superheroes and their Marvel Presents run (billed as their first series) as well they hit 98. But of course the old team had lots of crossovers, and the new team was in War of Kings and Thanos Imperative (and if you really wanted to stretch it then all the members of the new team had various appearances in other books before GOTG). So yeah while still being far from A or even B list I'd say overall they're pretty well ahead of Eternals, who you could argue have bigger name authors in Kirby and Gaiman.
Christopher Morales
The Eternals were mostly in team groups after Kirby, and they were guests in many other solo books (like Avengers and Quasar for example). People like Makkari and Ikaris were regulars in many series, though they eventually faded into obscurity.
During the 00s there were other attempts at reviving the Eternals with this run right here, the same many unknowingly use to promote them but rarely ever reference, because they're stuck in Kirby and Gaiman. This book came out around the same time as the GOTG and Civil War, but it failed to connect and didn't go beyond 10 issues. After that, I believe it was the very last attempt, all writers focused on cosmic and Avengers, then later the Inhumans.
Strangely enough a Shang-Chi movie has been talked about since before the MCU.
Jeremiah Bailey
But this is the only timeline that makes any sense, the Iron Fist comics were cancelled and he was shoved into be Luke Cage's sidekick while Shang-Chi ran for a decade.
John Robinson
I know, that's the point I was making. They had more exposure than Eternals.
Nolan Stewart
Psylocke is a part of the X-men and nothing more. Shang-Chi is a solo Asian character with his own supporting cast and villains.
Ryan Scott
that was only once. Iron Fist has had a consistent stream of well liked solo runs since then while Shang-Chi has done nothing except pop up once in a while during events as a background character.
Also Immortal Iron Fist >>>>> any modern Shang-Chi comic
not to mention, Black Panther has traditionally been a low seller yet had a successful movie. Iron Fist wouldve done great numbers.
Kayden Adams
There's also Chuck Austen's Eternals series for the MAX imprint. That deserves a storytime of pain.
Bentley Young
Let Shang-Chi establish himself and maybe they can do Iron Fist properly without the shitty Fist show being in people's recent memory. That said prepare for another Asian American Iron Fist drama.
Ayden Wood
>Inhuman >Deviant >Eternal
It seems that these niggers are just mutants but with their own pronoun and minus the retarded racism. How do people even tell?
it´s going to be sjw shit they already said that they changed the race and gender of the protagonist to be mostly black, mostly female.
Jonathan Rivera
I pretend that one doesn't exist.
Jose Harris
I still don't get why they went with Eternals over Thunderbolts or Agents of Atlas.
Jordan Evans
There's very different dynamics involved in each. >Inhumans Warrior race created from Kree experimentation on humans, devolved in monarchy with its own hierarchy >Deviants Sort of like orcish, monster race with barely any traits in common, war and breeding proficiency, ancestors of a lot of legendary creatures >Eternals Cosmically attuned race, small in numbers but powerful and rooted in longevity, natural enemies to the deviants; demigods.
