Anyone else think Magneto should have his race changed?
A big part of his identity as a character is the holocaust, however that has been nearly 60+ years since then.
In contrast, concentration camps with mass massacre still exist in the Middle East and China. Chinese and Muslims people are thrown in them every day.
Changing his race to either Chinese/Muslim would make his struggles relevant again.

I think that characters and teams should just grow up and die, retire, or be replaced rather that be kept on permanent life support to keep them in the current year no matter how little sense that makes.
If you must make new Xmen stories, keep them in the 60s-90s. Make it a period thing rather than some bizarre sliding timescale.
The industry needs to let shit go. Not every character that has been made since 1939 has to be immortal and permanently relevant.

they should probably just retcon his holocaust backstory into a fictional genocide ( no /pol/ joke required here, senpaitachi) event that draws parallels to the holocaust, so it slides with the timeline.
The problem with using something like a Chinese concentration camp is that China isn't as aggressively expansionist as Nazi Germany, triggering a backlash from all surrounding nations that will lead to its collapse. We know as much about the Holocaust as we do because of the liberation of the camps, allowing information to get out in the form of pictures, stories, documents. People don't know something's real until they see it. We have no idea how many Muslims and Falun Gong practitioners China has chopped up for spare parts, and China denies it's even happening. They're happy to let people think it's just reeducation camps. Stories and rumors much like the ones coming out of China now came out of Nazi Germany, but it was the regime's collapse that allowed it to really get out.
Modern comic book stories are just attempts by the 20th century elite to continue profiting on the stories of their time while simultaneously working to snuff out original competition.
Changing the story means the world is moving on from the 20th century, and those bastards can't stand the thought.

I'd love to see one of the big two have the balls to actually make a Uighur or Yazidi superhero, fighting against their oppressors. The closest thing I've seen to this tried recently was Waid's "woke" Champions run, where the freeing of the Muslim women from Islamic militants in a war zone was hilariously spearheaded by a group of American-based superhero saviors, violating international law to go to some vaguely defined country and lead them in rebellion. Americans can fix other countries through interventionism: great socially conscious message, Waid.

It costs them a hell of a lot of money, but not as much as you think. Unlike the Stazi who had to bug everyone and pay a third of the population to spy on each other while trying to keep their Soviet economy going. China just enshrines it into regular police brutality and makes spying a local problem. Since the provinces set themselves to run the most efficiently, the costs are negated.
But one of them was frozen in a chunk of ice, the other one was actually living from then to now. Also while I don’t know if it’s ever been stated or devunked, I wouldn’t be surprised if those super steroids extended his lifespan.

When Magneto’s holocoaster history was added into his origin for quite awhile he was a gypsy and not a jew. So being a jew is a retcon itself.

I think (when they actually tied his origin to the holocaust) he was originally a gypsy, but the movies made him a Jew AND Dr. Doom is also a gypsy, so it seemed a bit silly to give gypsies both those great villains. But it was canon that he CLAIMED to be a gypsy, which was so other gypsies would trust him as he was searching for his wife from the time, who was a gypsy.

Honestly with as many date centric characters and event there are in marvel comics, wouldn't just make sense at this point to just make a set time line of events. Like cap always starts off in ww2 but now instead of thawing out in what ever modern time is, when ever the avengers form which lets just say for argument they form in the late 60's, xmen stories take place from the 60's on word through the late 80's, spider-man 80-though out the 2000s. Allow for a set time line to hold, thus forcing the industry to come up with new stories for future dates, and allowing established characters retain there original origins. This would also allow change to fucking matter in comics and maybe gain more readers who like that,
