I've always figured Snow White was Darkness/Shadow. Bear with me on this.

Hers is a story brimming with darkness and decay. From the gothic Queen's castle to the dark forest, and the Queen's withered visage to the Snow White's icy tomb. Even the dwarves dwell in the dark abyss beneath the earth, called "Dark Elves" in Norse-Gemanic myth.

Snow herself is bright and cheery, but the darkness around her is easily her story's most defining trait

I have some theory about sun and moon powers. Both powers may balance each other. When the sun drop’s healing power is used, then the moon drop has to wither the living creatures to absorb energy for supplying the sun drop flower. Mother Gothel overused the power of sun drop flower for hundreds years may cause the destruction of the dark kingdom.

Comet imagery seems to be a running thing with the Dark Kingdom so I'd venture a guess that the Moon drop arrived as (what was interpreted as) a Comet that landed in the kingdom/where the kingdom would eventually be

OR the comet hasn't arrived yet, OR is unrelated. Whether the Opal is the moon drop, the comet, or something else entirely, I would like to find out

So I stopped watching season 2 because it was just so bad, boring, dumb and overall emotionally inconsequential compared to 1.

It didn't actually. There were a few bits here and there but nothing even near S1. The hiatus will end soon (Germany had a few episodes in advance and the first is the same shit) and according to the leaks we get some story on par with S1 but it is kind of late and nobody knows if it will hold up.

Probably the bird episode. Though Vigor the Visionary is good because it shows Rapunzel brimming with sexual energy. And I'm not meming. It's made very clear that not only do Eugene and Raps love each other emotionally, they're very physically in love. It's never shown beyonds cuddles and glances, but it's one of the first times i looked at a Disney couple and could actually say:

The first half is mostly focusing on the light-hearted, some fun and silly stuff very similar to the first half of season 1.

Like Queen for a day of season 1, the mid-season special about the Great Tree is like the turning point of the show that it's getting on the train of tentpole plot and going more intense and darker in the second half.
