Who knows? The Oscars are always bullshit. Always remember Lord of the Rings won Best Picture. It's all flukes, favoritism, politics, etc. But it's nice when a good movie wins and the people who made it get a historic accolade and, as a fan of good movies, that makes me happy. Good people should get good things sometimes, even if they don't most times.

Except it wasn't about this at all. It was about a new generation taking over from an older generation without shitting on them. Grubby Peter gets a second chance and time to relax and be rewarded for his work while someone else has a go of it. The movie is nice to everyone, and even has a fake-out to make you roll your eyes and think "Here we go!" but instead it has a warm and thoughtful message. "Thank you for your service, go home and get your family off opioids or whatever, you deserve a break. We got this." Everyone is a winner.

This is actually based on the actual Spider-Verse series in which Spider-Men of the multiverse band together to stop a threat affecting them all, so it's again Miles among many other ones who get more or less equal spotlight.
