Gurihiru got me to give Wasp a chance, they know good art can get attention to some smaller characters they're pushing. Gwen is solidly established, so they know they can wait a while before giving her a new mini or something.

Gwenpool had a fairly strong run for a new character getting 25 issues and two christmas specials. The series probably would've gotten at least 10 more issues before ending if not for the sales numbers dropping every time a terrible fill in artist came in.

Irene Strychalski was good, though... Or rather, we could witness her improvements with each successive issue, which was appealing. And she's also a nice person online so she shouldn't be lambasted desu.

I was mostly referring to Haynes though, that stuff was eye cancer.

Yeah, she unfortunately wasn't a good fill-in artist. And she had not one but two issues.

The other thing with fill in artists is that Hastings seemed to want the story to be attached to Gurihuru so all the fill in stuff is a complete stop to the plot until the doom stuff at the end.

This is one of my favorite moments from the series. It's an emotional culmination of the relationship between Batroc and Gwen, two of my favorite characters. It doesn't showcase the fun you can have with Gwen's 4th-wall warping powers, but it's a big character moment, and those were the ones that stuck with me, so I'd consider this a good page from the comic.

Which does tie into the fact that comic characters never really age, which is bothersome to old fans, but is also the only reason most of us get to enjoy characters from the 60s still having new adventures. I don't know who told you that about the art, user, but I always found the characters to be the main appeal of the book. I was able to enjoy the Blade crossover book, despite the goddawful art, because I though Gwen's character was a lot of fun in that issue. Trying to use her trope awareness to fight off a vampire only to realize that she screwed up big and has to fight Blade instead of a regular Vampire. I had a blast with that.
