How's he look in live action?

Terrible

Terrible

kill yourself ladderbro

Honestly I'm amazed they picked Nobody for the villain. I'm super excited to see it.

It's different than what I was expecting, but Tudyk was a perfect choice. His delivery is amazing.

Wait they didn't pick anyone to be the villain?

Weird.

Show's excellent but the design's not great.

First episode better than the second, but overall really digging it.

Dude is mad underrated.

Like the actor REALLY wanted to show his face and was going to quit if they didn't show his face.

Design is bad but Tudyk good.

I'm so glad to see Nobody get some love. Doom Patrol in general, really.

Honestly if they took away Tudyk's face it would probably work better. The light streaks help to break up the design.

Attached: Doom-Patrol-Mr.-Nobody.jpg (738x369, 26K)

He looks about as good as they could have potentially made him, really. And Alan Tudyk is doing fantastic voicework and acting with him so far.

Tudyk isn't that kind of guy, he's done a lot of VA roles before. I doubt it was his choice.

He said in an interview the old design was too ridiculous, looking like a golf club.

I want Brain and Mallah. I feel like I'm the only classic Doom Patrol fan in the world.

It's doom patrol, being ridiculous isn't the worst thing in the world.

If there's a lesson DC should pick up from spider-verse, it's that leaning into the stranger bits of comic books can turn out great.

Yes you're so special. Well done user you read one of the most recommended comic book runs on this board.

It's pretty good for having to include his face.

It's all in your head
It's all in your head
It's all in your head

So is he basically Doctor Manhattan but sassy?

youtube.com/watch?v=FyolYk6rIW0

It's like they filmed Tudyk in the usual green mocap suit for preliminary stand-in and planned on animating over him with a comic-accurate Nobody, but then the special effects department ran out of the budget money for it and the executive producer just said "fuck it, do what you can with the mocap stuff we already filmed."

Besides appearances though he's easily one of the best casting choices I've seen for live-action adaptations. Him, Brendan Fraser, and Timothy Dalton are all doing a phenomenal job.

the show is really good interpretation of doom patrol and its astoundingly good. but, grant morrisons run will always be better if you want pure doom patrol craziness.

brendan frasier has fucking killed it as robotman, and i was moved to tears in the first episode by him, unironically

Crazy Jane sucks but everything else is great.

i agree, that and no hermaphroditic negative man is disappointing so far

Its pretty great, cant wait for next ep

Calling it now: the spooky force is going to be his gay boyfriend's soul

It's an alien

desu, I don't think any actress could have made a character like Crazy Jane not annoying. The very crux of her character wears thin.

>no hermaphroditic negative man is disappointing
He needs to be pure male first so Cliff can keep calling him Larry afterwards

I've know it's the Negative Spirit, but this show could easily take a wrong turn onto melodrama lane.

I agree, but getting an actress that is bad to the point of distraction besides doesn't help.

I wish Spinner was here.

>post yfw the painting that ate paris will be the big bad
>mfw

I think Dalton confirmed her in an interview. We're also supposedly getting Mento and Flex.

>Him, Brendan Fraser, and Timothy Dalton are all doing a phenomenal job.
The only one I don't like so far is Jane.

That doesn't even make sense.

At this point I don't know anyone that honestly is a fan of Jane. A casual tolerance, but no one watch the show because of Jane

>Painting eats the town
>When the Doom Patrol get there they are giants compared to the now tiny town
>Due to reality issues Nobody is de-Nobody'd and The Chief can walk
>Series ends with shot for shot remake of the end of Hot Fuzz just with Dalton winning

Loving it so.
The first two episodes are better than any thing else DC related on tv/streaming in a few years.(Granted, I haven't watched Gotham at all, maybe it's been okay the past couple years, but CW's shit is, well, shit.)

>one of the most recommended comic book runs on this board.

lol no

It is fucking amazing

Fraiser and dalton keep stealing the fucking show.

I may be drunk on whiskey, but it really elevates televised capeshit to higher levels. Fucking amazing show. marvel can't touch this shit

This and Happy makes me wonder what other Morrison work can be adapted well

whats his power?

The Original run might not get as much love as Morrison's (and not nearly as much as it deserves), but it still gets a lot.

In the comics he's insane and can drain sanity from other people.

In the show it's unclear, but it seems to be power "over the story". He's aware he's in a Doom Patrol TV show, narrates it (and other characters are sometimes aware of his narration), can manipulate reality to create vortexes to other dimensions, and create illusions.

As the Doom Patrol point out in the show, though, he's not all knowing or all powerful otherwise he wouldn't be trying to trap or stop them.

Maybe they've gone full Morrison and he's a meta threat. Like he'll try to slow the story down to get the show cancelled and the like.

Anyone know of an ep 2 mega?

I'm hoping the success of this show leads to an Animal Man series.

>threatening to get a DC show on a DC network canceled when there's very few other original programming
That could be really fun if done right, but I'm not sure how you'd pull it off.

>Calls out Reddit trolls in the second ep by name

Is Mr. Nobody /ourguy/?

Attached: nLuPPAD.jpg (963x512, 26K)

Should've been Yea Forums trolls.

Yea Forums trolls don't have DC subscriptions. They just beg for megalinks because they have no jobs.

>Opening shot: Robotman's train room
>One of Jane's personalities blows up Robotman's trains, then runs away.
>Robotman blames himself as the camera follows Jane out the front door.
>The camera pans to follow her car as she drives away, then keeps panning to Nobody who has obviously been playing cameraman.
>"That's right. It's a Jane episode. Aren't you glad you're paying for this?"

Hopefully they don't make the same mistakes with Ragged Robin whenever The Invisibles finally get's adapted

thats basically the plot of the last episode of Batman the Brave and the Bold. Batmite tries to get the show canceled so he could get a grittier batman show

i would love to see someone taking a shot at The Filth

If there was ever a chance of Ambush Bug showing up in a live action property, I think this show could do it.

Tudyk is throwing his heart into it and the narration was so fucking awesome it me a little bit of a stiffy, but rotoscoping a drawing onto the CGI fuckfest they presented would have been preferable.

Ironically, it only makes it more awesome. Fat cats on executive boards are slapping themselves on the forehead because literally no one wanted an expensive top dollar CGI design for Mr. Nobody and they went there because they were dazzled by the Brenaissance.

Has DC ever mentioned Yea Forums? It's more of a Marvel thing, or was (Mettle mentioning it in universe and us being thanked by Lieber in the Superior Foes omni).

Just finished the first two episodes. Brendan does Cliff right, it's phenomenal and he sells the moral core of the story wonderfully.

Cyborg is out of place but the show seems aware of that? I don't know, i can't help but think having Changeling in the show would provide a more interesting family dynamic to the core cast.

All in all i like most where everything is going. Jane's actress is being given a hard role that she's not always hitting but is doing an okay job. I'unno about you guys, i like Jane, or at least I like Jane vis a vis Cliff's relationship with her

I think the idea with Cyborg is to show someone who's a little more together and purposeful as a hero, whereas the Doom Patrol mostly just want to be left alone/wallow in their own disabilities. Cyborg and the Chief's disappearance will be the motivating factors in getting them to actively look for him and become heroes. Plus, it sets up Cyborg to leave the Doom Patrol and take his rightful place in the Titans next season.

His design is terrible, yet I bet is still more expensive to make than anything resembling the comics version.

why

Much less powerful. He usually relies on artefacts or minions to do his reality warping for him.

Attached: the painting that ate paris.jpg (635x958, 235K)

Maybe before the mainstream associated this place with neo Nazis.

Full Morison would mean he's not a villain. He fought against the status quo and lost and you all watched and smiled and we're happy the status quo won and said "hihi based Mr. Nobody I hope he can return to do the same thing again xD". He suffered for your sins, and much like Crafty, you take pleasure in his suffering.

It's not Yea Forums related, but Community does a Yea Forums shoutout through Chang. I think it's season 5 or 6. Two characters are dialoging while he monologues to himself. At some point he asks the unlistening others "You guys on Yea Forums?". Solid scene from a solid series.

So in the first episode Chief mentions some people come and go from the manor. Was that referring to just Jane or is there a chance some other doom patrol members may have already been in the manor?

Mento is confirmed for this season, so maybe him.

I always love characters that can convey a lot of emotion with few facial features.

You can just tell how giddy he is.

Nobody is a god tier villain and it's cool that they put him on film.

The Scissormen would also be interesting to film and I hope the show does well enough for the butterfly collector to show up too.

Nobody looks a lot like Scud here, right down to the heart on his chest.

Attached: scud__the_disposable_assassin_by_stingroll-d47ygsw[1].jpg (751x1063, 133K)

Is Scud a heartless?

Reading Morrison patrol right now, but what other runs for them should I look up next?

Mr. Nobody is definitely a heartless, and if you understand KH3 right, is being set up as the new antagonist for the upcoming trilogy.

Not mega but

magnet:?xt=urn:btih:6730e2d7cae578c365ab7f875d80ad79ed51385d&dn=Doom.Patrol.S01E02.iNTERNAL.1080p.WEB.H264-AMRAP%5Brartv%5D&tr=http%3A%2F%2Ftracker.trackerfix.com%3A80%2Fannounce&tr=udp%3A%2F%2F9.rarbg.me%3A2710&tr=udp%3A%2F%2F9.rarbg.to%3A2710

So what's the connection between Nobody and the Chief?

Apparently Nobody wasn't aware of where the Chief was until the Doom Patrol had their public meltdown in town, which attracted his attention. But then, he says he's had his eyes on the Doom Patrol for some time and clearly feels threatened by them. So, he opens a dimensional portal to suck in the chief and the town, which can only be accessed through a donkey's throat.

So, the idea was to lure the Doom Patrol into this weird dimension so he could trap them and torture them, although he seemed to also know Negative Man would be able to free them. He was also super psyched when he squeezed Cyborg's origin story out of him.

So is he just trying to make a fun TV show, given he knows he's in one?

It seems like he can't know things as a character without having a reason, even if he knows them already as the narrator. So he tortures people for information he already knows so he can use it, he has to wait for the Doom Patrol to out the Chief with their escapades, that sort of thing.

This would be really cool if it was actually what's happening.

>the madmen actually do a Orqwith arc
>people claim it's a Imagiinationland rip-off

In his twitter he mentioned something along the lines of "Thank God, we didn't go with the question mark face".

>If there's a lesson DC should pick up from spider-verse, it's that leaning into the stranger bits of comic books can turn out great.
Doom Patrol has really leaned into it in everything else

Flex Mentallo Spin-off

Better than expected. His voice and characterization, even when unseen, pushes him over the top.

>Maybe they've gone full Morrison and he's a meta threat
I'm fully expecting a situation where Mr Nobody gets frustrated waiting for something and says something to the effect of "And if somebody had dumped this show all at once we would have been finished weeks ago"

>And what happens next? I guess you'll find out next week. Don't blame me, I wanted to go to Netflix.

Yeah, actually. But who would be SCUD and Mr. Nobody's original form?

Alan Moore.

>best villain DC TV has produced so far

You seem to be under the impression that this is something impressive; would you care to explain that?

>How you folks enjoying Doom Patrol?

It's shit. Just go read the Morrison run again.

Morrison's run is amazing, but it's a hell of a lot easier skipping Jane Ex Machina in video form.

>Honestly if they took away Tudyk's face it would probably work better.
I think it's hard to get a well known actor to play a role where they can't show their face. Comes with having a whole career built around people remembering your face.

Brendan Fraser's comeback is too fragile for him to be picky. Matt Borner isn't big enough to enforce it, and still seems to get some screen time without the bandages (possibly something written into his contract). Guy like Tudyk is probably big enough he could make the demand to have his face on screen.

>I want Brain and Mallah.
So do I...granted we may not get their relationship (Fucking hell it's 2019 the world is ready for a homosexual disembodied brain on ape romance), but it would be nice for Mallah to have a speaking role at the very least.

>We're also supposedly getting Mento and Flex.
HERO OF THE BEACH!

Also of they make Mento a rapist I will be most put out.

I read this in Tudyks voice.

With what I saw in Happy! I feel like they could totally pull Brain/Mallah off.

HUGE mistake. DC should care about (shared) world building and just keep Cyborg on the JL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

>all this hate on based Diane

She's doing the best she can with a shitty character. Admit it, Crazy Jane was always a dumb idea.

What if Mr.Nobody founds Brotherhood of MAGA instead, only to trigger you? Would you keep watching it?

>Agent ! wearing a MAGA hat.
I would not be surprised.

>Love Head is headless with MAGA hat from the dream tree

Attached: lovehand.jpg (1018x1006, 803K)

I dig it and it looks sufficiently surreal and uncanny valley. I expect him to complain or note the difference from the original design at some point.

I really want to see him with minions or underlings to chew more scenery.

I like the way he’s a hollow flat thing wrapped around the shape of a man, and the light streaks are just effects coming from the inside planes of his surface wrap.

Fuck off Yea Forums

They did casting for a Flex Mentallo.

Hoping he and Danny show up. May be a bit esrly to try and do Casey.

Grant Morrison rolling over in his grave.

I mean, I see what you did there

Agreed, even if he isn’t dead yet he is dead somewhere if we treat time as cubic reality and something something multiverse something something hypersiguls

This, this wouldn't work...because no one wears two hats at the same time.

I mean, Bobby and Other Malcolm would be slightly more of a squeeze on the budget than Byron and Malcolm because theyd have minimal CG that needs to be part of every scene with them (Bobby with his Arms, Other Malcolm with his torso). Fog and Frenzy include a transformation so there would be less of an issue (Plus with Byron his non death cloud form can just be a face actor given how comics Byron can't really get any of the people he consumed to SHUT UP).

Sleepwalk and Quiz are dead easy, because you don't need CGI for either of them.

Alias is probably gonna be Mocapped like Nobody, the tricky part will be getting the "face" right.

Number None can be supplied by shooting scenes from it's perspective (Nobody is the narrator and None is the camera angle).

In the talkback thread

Number None was clearly there in the first episode when things went to shit in town.

That's right, everything there seemed surprisingly convenient.

Maybe Number None was also created as a side product of Morden becoming Nobody? Would certainly explain why he's so good at prop placement and practical effect timing.

That last scene with Larry was real good shit. The bowie, the lighting, the burn make up were all top notch

>How's he look in live action?
better than in the comics

It's been so long I legit can't remember what this dudes deal is.

He lives in an extra-dimensional castle and feeds off of pain by pulling the wings off of butterflies until he can gain access to the world through mystery doors to abduct women to become his "wives".

Mento, Flex, Dorothy
