But Kingdom Hearts 3 is largely recognized as a disappointment by fans.

That's more because they hyped it up because it was taking so long meaning that it was gonna be the best thing ever, and not it taking so long because Square is run by morons. It's still a solid game, main issue is with the pacing.

Yep. Well that and the reason for going to the Disney Worlds was really vague which made it feel pointless once you finished them. Even though the Caribbean is the best playable KH world in the franchise, it's kind of like... wait why did we come here...
First game: find Kairi and Riku, save princesses of heart
Second game: I don't actually remember but I'm sure there was a point
Third game: ??? power of waking ??? which wasn't resolved by going to any of the Disney worlds

Yes.
I thought it was amazing but with a few glaring flaws which appear to be universal complaints from everyone (that being difficulty and almost zero postgame worth a damn)
From what I saw most are on the same boat (with other obvious complaints on story for those who went in straight from 2) with some actively hating on it
Then there are those who say it sucks because it isn't better than KH2FM (which is definitely true) but that's kind of unfair considering KH2 vanilla had similar problems
