I've gotten some great stuff from this board...Princess and the Goblin...Joker Returns...I kind of like 80s-90s style cartoons. I hate poor done animation (pokemon). Any ideas?

How old is the kid, and for curiosity's sake what is it about Pokemon's animation you don't like?
I don't like the animation. No offense. I forgot to mention that I like vintage stuff too. Looking for stuff adults and kids can both enjoy.
Are you using animation correctly, meaning the way it moves or incorrectly meaning the art style or character designs?
This will help for recommendations.
Are subs okay if it's not in English?
Art style and character designs all fall under animation hence why I said I don't like the animation. Its ugly to look at.
Sure. I'm in the mood for more Western stuff like Incredibles or something medeival with dragons.
Thanks Hobbit looks awesome!
So incorrectly, that's what I expected. No anime/animelike then. Too bad, Avatar The Last Airbender is good.
Go for the Cartoon Network building blocks, Dexter's Lab's first few seasons, Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Samurai Jack and Courage the Cowardly Dog. Ed Edd n Eddy is good if the kid is a little older. Batman: The Animated Series is also must watch.
For older stuff obviously the Disney classics, Don Bluth's work like Secret of Nimh/Land Before Time/An American Tail, The Animals of Farthing Wood (should be at least 10 i'd say).
Was that Little Nemo? Rikki tiki tavi? Jungledyret hugo is my favorite series
Fire and Ice and The Last Unicorn is good if the kid isn't really little.
I'm assuming from your image you've seen Little Nemo already but if not then that's a must-watch. Same for anybody else ITT
Little Nemo :)
Rikki Tikki Tavi is good if you can get it. Spooky soundtrack and Chuck Jones
I'm a big fan of Bluth & Disney sadly I've already seen it all.
The Scarecrow is cute and harmless.
>hate poor done animation
Aw well. The animation is not so great. But it's got that sort of subdued 80s-90s cartoon movie feel.
The copypasta made me get off my lazy ass and watch Jungledyret Hugo. 6/10 very cute
Ralph Bakshi's Wizards. A perfect family film.
Flight of Dragons is pretty damned great

The Last Unicorn
It's got everything a kid could want. Unicorns! Songs! An examination of the morality of fundamentally altering the inner workings of an immortal being now exposed to the emotions and connections of a human being and then expecting her to turn back into an immortal creature only after she's begun to understand humanity!
The Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea
Nice! It looks great!
i wanna get into the industry but i don't have any talent or skill for it, i'm more of an writer/director, i got dozens of stories to tell and characters to create but i just don't have what it takes, can someone help with this
Just write and keep writing. You can only get better with practice. You also got to put your stuff out there. Make people see how great your work is and you'll break in. It takes time and practice user.
Song of the Sea sounds exactly like what you're looking for
Over the Garden Wall bruh
someone say Little Nemo?
Little Witch Academia OVAs
> mfw we used to have those trap bon bon threads
good times...
we're back a dinosaur story
pause the film midway and play the deleted scene on youtube
That comic is so wholesome
Can't I just give the kid microwave macaroni and a smartphone to let him watch netflix and porn? It would be so much easier while I make my own microwave fastfood and watch netflix and porn on my own smartphone.
>Art style and character designs all fall under animation
Please tell me this is just bait
The Mouse And His Child.
People like to talk about the dark elements in that film, but I seriously loved it when I was little because it had such atmosphere and a dreamy quality.
Catnapped is much lighter-toned and very creative.
Purists will lynch me for this, but I can recommend the Miramax cut of Thief and the Cobbler for kids. I and my siblings loved it back in the day, and I'm really glad I watched it a lot back then.
Alternatively, if you or your sick kiddo isn't feeling up for a full movie, it might not be a bad idea to consider making a playlist of animated short films from Vimeo or Youtube. There's tons of great bite-sized films that might be cozier to pull up on a phone/tablet in bed.
I enjoy lots of Pokémon stuff, but the anime is just hard to watch most of the time for me.
The animation is incredibly cheap. It's basically a colored storyboard most of the time, with overly long panning shots and characters being too stationary constantly.
I get that it didn't have a huge production budget, but *damn* is it some low-grade animation.
Goofy Movie
idiot
I think you've gotten most of it, but you can't go wrong with some Laika stopmotion movies (Coraline, Paranorman, etc) The French movie "A Monster in Paris" is a fun little movie, but it is CGI.
This isn't animated, and I don't know the gender of your kid, but the 90's Secret Garden is good. Along with Are You Afraid of the Dark/Eerie Indiana.
If you haven't seen already, The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends (90s 2D animation) is a great candidat, loved it as a kid and still love it now.
Mumfie the elephant (90s) was also something I adored. Hope your child feels better soon!
