If you think about it, the Wakfu TV series was doomed from the start. That TV network really wasn't a big fan of serialized storytelling.
Not to mention the show's nature meant Tot & company never had a proper, long-term plan. Only season-sized plans. From the get-go they should've prepared a proper multi-season plan.
Tot also became super impatient after the TV network rejected his idea of a more serialized Season 3. In their eyes S3 should've been even LESS serialized than Season 2. So he rushed out that manga series with the Jiva storyline. And after that he rushed out the OVAs which were also pretty messy. The fact they had to follow up on the manga while also not really acknowledging its existence only made storytelling pretty fucked. So in the manga Phaeris died and the main cast obtained the Eliatrope Dofus. The OVAs quite clearly take place after those events and the Eliatrope Dofus are important McGuffins but somehow the OVAs also never mention the events of the manga. It's the worst possible combination.
And only after all that the proper Season 3 got greenlit. And at that point they had to follow up on all the asinine plot points from the OVAs.
It's also a shame the Wakfu TV series can't really stand on its own. For example, it never bothered to properly explain the world and various races. You would think they would use the "filler" episodes in Season 1 and 2 to explore all the races. But nope, not really. Only a few races got explored.

To tell a story, the characters need to develop. But the networks nix their plans to inject any moral complexity or character development into the preteen protagonist, because it risks their ability to sell toys to kids in the age 6-12 range.
Eventually, the writers start hating the character because they're not allowed to use them to tell interesting stories. So they end shifting the spotlight to the other characters.

Dungeon bosses are the best part of wakfu imo. After level 100 they have fun little puzzles to them where you need to do something to remove invulnerability, or deal tons of extra damage. Endgame mobs are pretty much like minibosses with their own requirements to attack them.

Here's what I remember about it:

I've played Wakfu. It's certainly colorful, but most of its dungeons are meant to be played with friends. There's positioning and facing while you move around a game board, but most of the time you're more or less locked in place next to the first enemy spamming your strongest spell.

Xelor is fucking 2deep4 probably everyone, but it's fun and I used a 20 level Xelor to cheese multiple 60+ level mobs.
You can summon a dial with 12 tiles around it to teleport around, giving you bonuses when you stand on them or end the turn on them.
You can temporary revive allies, revert creatures a turn back, store AP to use on the other turn, give or take AP from others,
You have two more types of summons. One of them attacks every single opponent which ever starts and/or ends his turn in range, and reduces AP. Other deals AoE damage every turn, and also places a one-turn duration buff on you which increases damage you can deal depending on how much different opponents were damaged by it last turn.
Almost every single of your 12 or so attack skills has a different effect unrelated to dealing damage, and in addition to even that it places a status effect on the enemy or friend you are targeting. These status can be triggered or expired automatically on the next turn, or triggered manually. You need to cast a different spell (with 3 or 4 "triggering" spells for each effect), which in addition to it's usual effect will cause status to trigger for additional damage, AP bonus or penalty, increase or decrease initiative or push target to a different tile, depending on which status effect it was and which spell you used to activate it.
In turn, your other spells can deal additional effects depending on how much AP or initiative the target has lost.
Most spells have 2 to 3 usages depending on whether you cast them on friend, foe, summon, ground or yourself.
And to top it off? Each other turn is a Tick or a Tock. Whether the turn is even or odd changes how your spells work.

Oh yeah, and all of that is even more cool when you are playing with a team.
While Xelor with proper skillset is very strong solo because he combines disposable summons and mobility second only to Eliotrope and can kite most mobs while evading attacks, he is actually a support class.
He steals AP from enemies to prevent bosses from using their big abilities, gives AP to allies, can leave teleports for other players to use, use time rollback to extract a surrounded player to a place he was a turn ago, push away enemies (which can even instakill them on some maps) to break locks or to group enemies closer so another player can nuke them with AoE, and even temporary revive fallen allies.
30 seconds for a turn felt like far too little sometimes.

He probably just asked around and through the magic of sheer numbers could find action any time he wanted, and he likely had a few regular floozies he could always fall back on if the fishing didn't work out.

I feel like with certain classes, like Sacrier, you wind up able to play blind. You just tap the same hotkeys every battle because the class genuinely is a DPS race. The more damage you take, the more damage you deal, and then you have a big final attack you can use when you're practically dead to whallop whatever you're fighting at the last moment.
It is kind of comical that it makes the Sacrier a top "competitive" class. People kill him because he's in their face and they have no choice, but he gets one free revenge turn to fucking wipe the enemy party, and then a support player can revive him to do it all over again.
The highest level I got was 80 or so, playing as a team with my wife. She was a Cra and I played a Sadida, thinking we'd see how that duo might actually work because show. Turns out it's kinda inconvenient, though. The wall of dolls blocks all the Cra's strongest attacks due to line of sight, and as the game goes on enemies start getting bonuses for killing the dolls.

Xelor teleports work the same though. Place the dial next to a wall, jump through that wall on a dial. That's how I cheesed mobs, including stuff like hoodlums who have powerful ranged attacks and all. Just jump through obstacles, make sure not to get surrounded and shit sinistros everywhere you go to slowly damage enemies and drain their AP.
Or teleport with a dial you placed the previous turn, then walk some, then with a skill a couple times, then walk, then summon another dial and teleport on it. I covered most battlefields from end to end like that.
But I wouldn't argue, I didn't actually play all that much because my friends dropped out and playing alone is pretty boring.

What does Yugo get? He gets betrayed by his own "brother" and cucked by the woman he loves. It's like give the id a break already. The worst part is there seems to be no reproductions to Adamai and Amalia's actions. Yugo just forgives them. I season 4 is unlikely to happen because of Ankama's gross mismanagement, but if it ever does happen I really hope someone else takes the reigns.

Generally speaking, Wakfu is after an event in the timeline know as "Ogrest's Chaos" where this big ogre dude got a bunch of dragons eggs (called Dofus) which gave him god-like powers and flooded the entire world by crying, Dofus is the timeline before this.
In terms of the cartoons, Wakfu is the main series, Dofus is a small episodic side series.
Just watch the first season of Wakfu, if you like it you'll probably find your way easy enough.
