The Wagner origin stuff wasn't as text heavy as I remember. It's really funny to me cause you can tell from his art it's the same era as Mage. I have no idea how it was originally published though because I'm pretty sure some of the pages I read were in Mage backups

It's Greek-themed which I guess is where 'Odyssey' comes from. I do like the cover with the metal bird like the old Harryhausen movie and the kopis-style sword.

How important would you say a comic's cover is? Unlike print books, comics are a visual medium, and thus the cover, like say a poster or box art, can be used to communicate the contents to a potential reader. But is this an all important deal maker/breaker, or a mere aspect of selling a book?

Hey OP. Coming in late because I was finishing off Alloy of Law, which I found plenty enjoyable and a decent example of the kind of "superpowers cowboys" sub genre I find to be a bit underexposed. I think I'm going to go I for the sequels when I feel comfortable buying more books.

Later issues of Legacy has those colors, unless they were recolored for the Omnibus collection. In particular, the silent chapter. The latter Eppy issues are also colored garishly but begin rather tame, like Legacy.

Um, nope, they're chronological, as far as I know. Begins with Rose and ends with Prime, same as the series.

Yeah with the Omnibuses the point was to do it in Universe-order.
So with Rose that is much more all over the place cause Wagner kept adding more to it throughout the years.
They really should reissue it with Shadow/Grendel.

Yes, you're right, I think they jammed all the Rose stories in Vol. 1. Also Vol 2 contains the Grendel Tales story about Stacy. Other than those, I think it's all chronological. I love how the style changes from arc to arc. I wish Wagner would do that again somehow. Every subsequent Hunter Rose story is kinda the same art-wise.

Your instincts serve you well. The setting is well built, the magic is cool, the actual plot is good, and the characters are mostly solid. The problem is, again, the seeming allergy to getting the fuck on with it. What should be an excellent book is ruined by insufferably slow pacing. In my opinion, anyway.
