They're teenage versions of pic related. Think of Turma da Monica/Monica's Gang as the Brazilian version of Peanuts/Rugrats, while Turma da Monica Jovem is basically All Grown Up.

The creator of Monica was friend's enough to Tezuka that he was invited to his cemetery. Mauricio was a huge weeb before it was cool, I believe his first studio was in the japanese neighbourhood of Sâo Paulo and he got exposed to a lot of comics the immigrant kids read, I think he even married a japanese descendant.

Debatable, Maurício is just ripping off a verbal agreement that Tezuka reportedly didn't remember well when asked about it and his family apparently doesn't approve the collab terms

That said the only good thing from MSP besides the original comics is the Astronauta series, and just barely, so can't expect much from all that
