Tried to read Thor last night

>Tried to read Thor last night
>The villain was Gorr, the God Butcher, wielder of the All-Black Necrosword
Did a fucking child come up with these names? What's up with that?

The fact that this is considered the best Thor story doesn't bode very well.

Anyone who considers this the best Thor story probably didn't read the Simonson run.

This isn't really considered the best Thor story, and simple names aren't really something new in the superhero genre.

Yeah, names like Batman or Doctor Octopus are the real pinnacle of maturity

This isn't the best Thor story at all. Everybody knows Simonsons run is the best.

I wish you anons were around when I was saying this run was shit

I've only read a bit of Aaron's Thor cause I don't tend to like his writing but I remember anons saying for awhile that it's just a ripoff of Kirby, Simonson, and Thunderstrike stories.

It's a pretty standard name, newfag. Go back to Yea Forums

Lol what do you think this genre is retard? People would literally look at those names and say they seem like they come out of a comic book.

I was around comrade, we were drowned out by DUDE EPIC METAL TOUCHING AWESOME LMAO

The worst part is that the run is now retroactively hated not because user developed critical thinking skills in the past 7 years but as a knee-jerk reaction to Jane Thor

There's nothing wrong with these names though. Just because something is "edgy" doesn't mean that it's bad. That's a simpleton's mindset, and one that only got popular in recent years due to "m-muh extreem 90's comics are sOooOOOo bad and edgy" meme.

It's not shit, it's just not the best. I could put it in the top 10 though.

This is far from the best Thor story. Even Jurgens has come up with more entertaining Thor stuff.

You're right. The sword should've been named Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
This is honestly an insult to the collective intelligence of the readers, and Marvel should be ashamed of themselves.

Reminder that Namor McKenzie is the most realistic name in all of Marvel Multiversity.

is this a Tommy thread

>The best Thor story
>Not Simonson
>Not JMS

Somebody lied to you OP. Only the art is nice is this run. The rest is pretty trash.

OP, did you miss the part where they dealt with space sharks with a straight face? It was meant to be campy as fuck 1980s heavy metal style. Not everything has to be high culture witty and intellectual.

>The rest is pretty trash
nahhh

the worst part is that "continues" into the event of nick fury that tells thor a "secret" and he still remains unworthy until now.
thank god I even forgot the name of the event

he's STILL fucking unworthy, he's just got a makeshift Mjolnir now

is what I said
>and he still remains unworthy until now

"until now" usually means that state has ended, ESL friend

>mfw op thinks that the batmobile is acceptable
If you want reality go stare at the fucking window

until now means until the last comic published or if you want..until now, like now, like this second, like the present

Maybe you're getting too old for comicbooks if names like "Gorr, the God Butcher, wielder of the All-Black Necrosword" bothers you.

Gor was right

You're reading picture books for children

>this story is bad because I don't like these names
You're a goddamn idiot

You guys are still wrong though.

I'm afraid not

not the best Thor run but certainly better than what Aaron is doing right now,
and honestly Jane as Thor was better than what Aaron is doing right now,
hope Aaron gets better

>this is considered the best Thor story
Only by people who don't read Thor.

>this is considered the best Thor story
Fucking retard.

>The fact that this is considered the best Thor story doesn't bode very well.
Lmao, is considered one of the best recent Thor stories because Thor has been trash for over a decade.

I'm just gonna say it: Simonson's run didn't age well.

Fuck off.

I'm serious. Comics have just plain developed a lot since then. Writers figured out that they don't need to fill panels with thought bubbles over-explaining things or characters constantly narrating their actions. Not to mention with modern printing methods art is, generally speaking, just better now.

Well that's your opinion and your entitled to it, you're wrong though.

Or they did and liked it anyway.

bait.

I went out of my way to explain myself. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it bait.

I dunno, Gor has a pretty gr8 backstory for a Thor villain despite having a shit name.
>have asgardian style gods on planet, pray to them during a crisis
>they ignore all prayers and choose to fight amongst themselves
>gor’s family dies despite devotion to these gods
>comes across one who has just fought another and is injured, asking for his help
>murders him, takes his sword
>ironically this weapon makes him a god in his own right
>travels the universe killing as many gods as possible, considering them a selfish plague that stunt society

What's wrong with his name exactly?

It rhymes with Thor, which makes it either goofy or derivative sounding when he’s a Thor villain.

It’s like Hulk fighting a guy named Bulk.

I actually never even noticed til now.
