So I just finished a rewatch of Avatar: The Last Airbender for the first time since I was a kid and loved it. I purposely avoided Korra when it came out because I hated the idea of Avatar being set in a more technologically advanced setting. I'm ready to look past this, is Korra worth it?
The only thing I know about the series is Korra is gay but it comes out of nowhere in the last episode
You sure you don't want to hear how Aang was a terrible father? Surely you want half a season dedicated to his kids bitching that he was trying to save the world/keep the airbender race alive? But don't worry, Aang and all the past Avatar spirits die anyway, fuck em.

Ironically, I never got the hate for what you put in your first nor third spoiler. Good people can be terrible parenrs if they are too busy.
Ian Sanders
Third one is a pretty big deal, at that point you may as well rename it because it's just a magic power up. Bumi and Kya being petulant children despite being 50+ is honestly just annoying, especially since Tenzin seems to work his his ass off while they just do whatever they want. It's like bitching at your brother for taking on the family business while you just retire to Jamaica and smoke weed all day, like how the fuck you even mad?
Julian Jackson
It treats the setting well outside of a few missteps (pro bending was a stupid idea to focus on as much as they did early on), but the increase in writing quality in the last two seasons only serves as a painful demonstration that the entire thing could have been reworked by simply moving a few pieces around and cutting some unnecessary early fluff to create a much more contiguous and satisfying story.
tl;dr It's perfectly watchable if you like Avatar, but its flaws are much more glaring than TLA.
Thomas Cooper
Don't bother. It feels the writers hated the original avatar

>Answering your question: it's decent, the hate it gets is overblown. Hell no. Korra shits all over the original series. It's like they took how terrible the comics were and animated it. The plot is fucking retarded, the worldbuilding makes no fucking sense and Korra's powers are written like fanfiction.
Jose Wood
>The only thing I know about the series is Korra is gay but it comes out of nowhere in the last episode
nah she's bi. she was definitely into bolin
Ian Morgan
>is Korra worth it? no
Isaiah Reed
the writter who did avatar great didn't return for korra, and it shows
Ayden Peterson
Sure, and you think Dragon Prince is better. Get fucked, ATLA widow
Jace Jones
no, Korra is terrible, the story is mediocre at its best and abysmal at it's worst. Not to mention, it retcons a lot of TLA, but these make the lore worse and more boring. Good character development is non-existent. I wish I could erase Korra from my mind, but alas
Austin James
It’s not worth it
Henry Sullivan
its worth your time but the plot is a train wreck, side characters are assholes or poorly developed, best girls get fucked over.

Season 1: It was okay. The hate it got was undeserved. Fans of TLAB were trying to hold it to the old show's standards. I think the writers had only intended to make a mini-series, but had to rush season one out when they changed over to an actual full show, but don't quote me on that.
Season 2: God-awful. Shitty writing, shitty animation, shitty characters, shitty fights, shitty villain with bullshit motivation. This season has the best waifu, but otherwise is complete garbage. The only reason I watched into season three is because for the finale the writers gave up any attempt at being coherent and instead chose to be fuckin rad and gave us a pretty fun final fight.
Season 3: All things considered, best season of both series fight me. Best fights, second best villain(s), best animation, decent story, side characters get their day in the sun. 3 minor problems. a) this season introduces a fan-least-favorite (hate for her is also overblown but I get it). b) catalyst event that sets everything in motion is an ass-pull plot device from the previous season. c) korra becomes progressively unlikable and this continues until the series ends. (arguably started in the final moments of season 2, but it's especially apparent here). Still, if you don't watch anything else, watch LoK season 3
Season 4: Better than season 2, worse than season 1. Really boring and predictable.
Easton Scott
>Fans of TLAB were trying to hold it to the old show's standards. What? you mean people expected a sequel to be as good, how unreasonable. >I think the writers had only intended to make a mini-series They kept saying the ending was rushed because they did not know if they would get s2, instead of adjusting the writing they just fucked it all.
Luke Bennett
>c) korra becomes progressively unlikable and this continues until the series ends. Opposite for me, over s3 and 4 Korra steadily becomes the best character in the series.
Caleb Edwards
No, it is EASILY below a 7.
Writing is VERY important for something to be considered good and quality. The writing in Korra is absolute garbage. They shouldn't have tried to save money by firing 95% of the writing staff out the gate. ESPECIALLY not the head writer that was in charge of ATLA.
Zachary Harris
If you don't mind spending time watching four seasons of what is ultimately a 7/10 show, go right ahead. The Legend of Korra is similar to The Last Jedi in terms of how it's more disappointing rather than objectively bad.
