Well first I'd say don't be DM. Try to join someone else's group. Second, if your worried about creating a character there is no shame in making something generic like say a stoic knight. As you go along you might try to roleplay more.

This was honestly his worst video... I LOVE the rest of his stuff, but this one was slow, with very little payoff, and I LOVE D&D.

Burnbot reminds me of Emi the TV from the anime Koni chan, I'm sure is just a coincidence since no one outside of Japan or Latam cares about it.

It was alright, and the mermaids chunby belly was bonerrific so I'll let it slide. Still upset that my friends have shown interest in getting together for DnD sessions but refuse to take the time to learn it so when we all have a free night together we just do something else.

I'm guessing 5th edition is the most recent and popular one so I'll research it for a while since I have lots of spare time this weekend. I'm not good at creative writing (no confidence) but I can do some roleplaying, I'm not great at it though

The idea of brain dump being a review show is just a setup. It's not actually a movie review show, it never has been.

Except many of his videos are just actual reviews and analysis with his best video of the series being a one whole hour analysis of Apu as a character with very few jokes and skits in between the discussion.

You're literally discounting like half of the series. Sure, the off-topic skits are part of the series as well and maybe even that's what he wants the series to be from here on out but that's always been his worse stuff.

I've been skipping around for just the burnbot scenes for a good many videos.

How does Max do it? How does he manage to have the best art style out of all other youtube animators AND upload faster than everyone else? Ross and Harry can't even hope to compete!

he's had worlds of practice on minimizing "unnecessary" animation. Which with how he draws stuff works quite well, while other animators and their style it would come off as cheap.

Just remember the golden rule of improv: unless the subject is something directly related to the character you play, your response should always be in the vein of "yes, and". Always play along with whatever is happening on the board unless it is a factual error for your character (i.e. someone says that your brown haired character is actually a blonde).

All good players follow and use this rule as their guiding principle. DMs do as well, but they are also the only ones who are allowed to get away with saying "no" because they are the ones providing structure to the experience and ensuring everyone is playing on equal ground (which, incidentally, is why a lot of seasoned DMs hate "nat20 crit success" thing that newbies to the game come in expecting, because they almost always end up trying to do something stupid like suplexing a dragon because "that one Yea Forums story was really funny though!")

I think he's aware that videos are monetized based on how long they are and the length you keep someone watching. With a lot of the jokes, timing feels off because there's so much space between them, like he's pausing for a laugh track that isn't added. It's okay overall but the pacing and the possible motives behind it sap some of the fun out of it.

I've always liked Max. He's one of the animators who inspired me when I was a kid. I know it's weird to say but stuff like Adam Android, Joan and Mark and Spookyville really laid the groundwork for what I wanted to be. And now 15 years later here I am. Having not animated anything.

You can do it man. Get a Flash program and try it. Even if its shit, I'll watch it.
