Over The Garden Wall

Holy shit just finished this, not a big fan of CN as of late but damn did this slip under my radar for 5 years, and what a wholesome series.

My advice is watch it again ASAP. it's even better the second time.

I just finished it today, gunna scoop up those comic tie ins though. The series hits home with me, with the atmosphere and autumn feeling. I also wish I could have more singing frogs in my media.

I would kill for some paintings or general art that has the same feeling as this show has, so far I can't find much and it's driving me nuts.

Congratulations, you are now into Neofolk.

While I can't say i'm into Adventure time after the first few seasons, I'm grateful for the help.

Daily reminder that Patrick "Ace" McHale and Guillermo del Toro are making a stop-motion adaptation of Pinocchio about the rise of fascism in Italy for Netflix as we speak

I'M THE HIGHWAY MAN

The fuck are you on? The entire soundtrack is obviously inspired by pre-war American folk and blues. Go get the Anthology of American Folk Music comps and stop being a stupid zoomer.

Hm I'll look into that.

I do love the music in the show, but also the references to stuff like Fleischer animations and the likes, I do think the highwayman song was criminally short.

I wasn't talking about the music.Great music though.

Beatrice is a hot bird girl.

Theres this comfy autumn village feeling a lot of the scenery invokes, however it seems like when I try to search for similar art I come up with stock images and kitschy halloween stuff.

The show's setting is based on Americana era Gothic Romanticism and expressionism. That's why it's so good at giving off an oddly melancholic feeling when you see scenes in the show.

That's the ticket. Now if only it were fall.

The beast/woodsman scenes remind me a lot of the game Darkwood, was glad they decided to put a little spook into the show.

American Naturalism, especially commercial art during the gilded era.

I disagree. There's certainly an element to be made for a gothic element in the work but the aesthetic is firmly rooted in the tradition of American Realism and I think you might be confusing Romantic with romantic.

Yeah you're definately on the right track with this comment.

>5 years
No.

Yeah I'm always late to the party. Took me the longest time to discover Studio Ghibli as well.
