Does it really count as child soldiers when plats only live to be 30?
Unsounded
Yes
Also did I miss a page, who the fuck is Vampire? They mentioned him(?) last page too
"Plat unit?" Not "Plat battery?" "Plattery" for short?
It's Plunit, you slut
How long was Ashley waiting to use the phrase "dick deep in entrails" in this comic?
I'm guessing we'll find out soon.
Just roll with it. Standard fantasy deal, name drops ahoy, fill in the blanks as you go. Trust in the author to not leave shit unexplained. Ashley hasn't disappointed yet.
It makes me laugh how Cope can go from sublime poetry one moment to "dick-deep in entrails" the next.
Not even a fantasy deal, it's just standard storytelling. You introduce a character or concept, then they're defined in context by the characters as the story goes.
Apparently a Senet beast.
It's far more common in fantasy and sci-fi than any other genre, because you're far more likely to have names and terms that need explaining liberally salted in dialogue and narration that can't stop to elaborate for sake of pacing the scene.
I was just curious if it had been explained and I'd missed it is all
Interesting spiky death spikes there, Danila
Oh and that polearm is kinda neat too
That guy is really Delicieu-looking in panel 2.
Maybe it's his dad.
I was about to remark on that
Do you recall the time frames of how long the lizard was pretending to be Delicieu, or more generally how old the fuck was?
Looks like a double-sided fouchard, unless that foregrounded middle part is a third blade, which presumably means there's a fourth on the other side.
Prakhuta killed the real Delicieu about 20 years ago. Also Delicieu was a jet, not a bronze and was centuries old.
Plattery sounds like a noun for things concerning plats, like faggotry.
>it's all squares because it's all being narrated
heh
Rectangular word balloons are pretty standard in euro comics. I think Ashley's finally gone full eurofag.
Uncanny resemblance tho
Does a child with terminal cancer not count as a child?
>I'm not a baby I'm a tumor
I would hate to be a soldier in this setting.
I would pretty much hate to be an anything in this setting. Kasslyne is a pretty fucked continent.
Seems likely he's a member of the rebelling families that's made a deal with a Senet Beast.
>soldier: get spelled
>peasant: get kidnapped and implanted with silver
>holy person: get eaten or zombified
>royalty: get impaled by lizards
Ain't nobody safe from getting a ride on the pain train in Kasslyne
Was curious about that too. Do they mean the great salt lizard that Duane will eventually meet? I'm not certain if Ruck is supposed to have been dug up yet by this point
>Ain't nobody safe from getting a ride on the pain train in Kasslyne
Equality in suffering.
Even the gods had someone find a way up to wreck their shit
Are these bronze?
Didn't they mention it in the opening info dump?
>Does it really count as child soldiers when plats only live to be 30?
Yeah. Plats don't actually age any faster than anyone else, they just die sooner. You're a kid, and have all the problems dealing with traumatic events that other kids have, for as long as everyone else. Same goes for the really long lived castes too.
Yeah, Caste age-changing kicks in the early or mid 20s, so they'll age normally and then just start falling apart at 25 and be dead by 30.
Be a typhoon whale.
No
My guess is maybe it's one of the mercenaries that came to join the Foi-Hellicks
It seems like the long lived castes also enjoy a somewhat longer childhood. Bastion was in his early twenties when he was Delicieu's apprentice and he looked like a teen.
Gotcha. He's come up in some QnA thing Ashley did then, because I recall a bit about him for some reason. We'll probably learn it in story in this chapter then.
Nah, Vampire came up in the chapter preview page.
>Bastion was in his early twenties when he was Delicieu's apprentice
Was he? Huh
When has striking a bargain with a powerful eldritch monster ever turned out well for anybody?
Worked out pretty good for Aladdin.
Hey, it usually works out well for the eldritch monster.
Well either that, or Ashley isn't the best at keeping Character ages consistent. (Which she self-admittedly is)
Young Duane is so fuckable.
he looks like a goober with that haircut
It seemingly worked for the inak, untill humans fucked it up.
ur mother
Knowing how she gets her rocks off probably since she hit puberty.
She gets specific ages wrong, but there's enough of a distinction between teens and 20 year olds, physically, that I can't imagine she got that wrong. At most it's like, eh, Duane was 35 or 38 or something in this scene.
I'm a writer myself and I get that. I've never been one of those anal retentive shits like JK Rowling who has her every precious OC's life timelined down to the month.
Bastion's in his forties:

Delicieu was killed about twenty years ago:

But these are rough estimates of course.
Does she do that? I always got the impression she was pretty terrible with the details. Someone like Robert Jordan would be my example of such behavior, he had a ridiculous amount of notes and what not for his characters and setting. I've always said he really wanted to write an encyclopedia rather than a novel.
I would hate to be a soldier in any setting.
I like Danila
He seems like he has fun
Probably one of the top ten fuckable goobers.
I heard GRRM relies on a clique of obsessive fans to remind him of minor details for continuity purposes lol
I think even Robert Jordan did as well, he had meticulous notes but they were so large that he had people, which I think came from the fanbase, to manage it for him. He'd want to include X character then he'd ask them to find out if they were dead or supposed to be somewhere else. Tolkien was the OG though, he did it all by himself.
He's gonne be dead by the next page.
Fuck, Plats are OP with someone like Duane leading them making up for their lack of experience and technique.
Platoon, you fool.
Different user but damn, it's right fucking there I feel like an idiot.
what about plateens.
He was just a fanboy for his own shitty characters
>platelets
>mfw all this talk about plat lifespans made me realize that even if ashley keeps quigley's exact age ambiguous i am now older than him regardless
Hehe
Nah I think he just had a good dash of the 'tism.
Finally a practical use for spergs. They should lease themselves out to creatives specifically for this purpose.
the aldish artillery units are cute. CUTE.
fuck off Starfish
GRRM has written so much over such a stupidly long time that it's hardly a surprise.
You don't wanna end up like King with The Dark Tower (newfags won't get this) and his snoozing editor.
I'd say it's the other way around. Duane is OP with all those inexperienced Plats.
I hope we get to see more Ruffles being the cutest
>Duane was 35 or 38 or something in this scene.
Duane died around that age, he meets the Salt lizard "15 years ago" so he's around 20 in this flashback
Wait no, Duane's been 6 years dead, so either he's in his mid twenties or he died early thirties... Yeah that sounds more like it...
>tfw 29
>tfw older than literally all main characters in all the fiction I read
Duane's OP all the time though.
There's a fair few older protagonists in fantasy
Kings of the Wyld (them being old is literally the whole plot)
Riyria Chronicles (At least I think Hadrian is like, early 30s).
The First Law
Wax and Wayne
Dresden Files
Aching God
Senlin Ascends
Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head anyways
Duane's around 40 in the present day. You good.
