I’m shocked that I could love Hurwitz’s Moon Knight but am thourogly unimpressed by his Batman.

The first issue feels so amazingly cinematic that i want a netflix series right now. The series falls off as it goes on but goddamn issue 1 is stellar.
>forget mexico
>forget hiding
So, this is after "The Death of Mark Spector" right?
Indeed. Seeing Stormin Norman in power was the tipping point for Marc. He isn't going to take that shit lying down one bit.
This was actually my first exposure to Moon Knight. I worked backwards from there until the Bendis stuff.
This entrance is sexy as hell
I love it when his suit is armored plates. Unlike the chainmail mesh underneath the plates in Dark Knight, this looks to be more leather based and honestly it fucking looks sick
Fuck...yes
I see.
I need to buy more trades of that time period some time so I can finally read it.
This is easily one of the greatest first issues of any character I've had the pleasure of reading.
Do you remember that page where Spider-Man says that he is different to Moon Knight because he has morals and principles and then Moon Knight goes yeah how is that working out for you? It then pans to the shot of Iron Patriot celebrated as a hero while Peter hangs his head in shame? It was so extra but at the same time so great
Now he's just showing off.
>Bit out of the big apple.
Ha
Moon Knight is such a fucking troll. I love it. The MCU could totally play up the humor so well with him. It wouldn't be super quip based, instead just him cutting people down and genuinely fucking with them. It would be a refreshing change of pace.
I love how he's slowly gone from nagging voice of doubt to just a chill bro over the years.
Say what you want about the last run, I'm down for him mellowing out.
I wish we could have seen this relationship developed more. If anything I consider Moon Knight to be one of the more appropriate heroes to face off agianst Sentry. Hulk is an obvious choice and it was played up in WWH but Moon Knight truly gives off a David and Goliath vibe with a weird respect between the two. Fascinating characterization and if I'm getting ahead of myself, Hurwitz treats this interaction with care and precision.
>he always wore white
kek
God I love Moon Knight.
He's so brutal.
yeah
I really do hope we get an ongoing with them together someday.
Don’t post images during storytimes.
>So will you.
God damn.
Unrelated, but I genuinely wonder what Hurwitz could have done with a Sentry title.
moon
Glad to see this character make a return. Hurwitz seemed stoked to go through Moon Knight's past catalogs and bring back the main players.
I need more Spidey and Moony teamups in general. They are always so great.
Yeah there so little between these two.
This might be a stupid question, but how would you guys feel about a M Night Shyamalan directed Moon Knight? After coming right after his Unbreakable trilogy, I think he would present a truly unique vision that would easily become in the top five MCU films if done correctly.
>to be continued
I thought it was over.
i remember years ago when reading this issue i thought that
>so will you
was actually a super weak line.
Kill it with fire but seriously movie would be a awful introduction for Moon Knight. It would just turn into a generic Moon Knight beats the committee and saves the say or something. Not enough time to develope. They should do it through the high budget Disney+ mini series they were talking about.
It isn't the line itself, it's the fact that Moon Knight is taking zero of Moon Knight's shit despite the fact he can literally rip a god in half. It wasn't elegant, it was someone firing back with zero self regard for what could happen next if he set him off. Moon Knight isn't fucking phased by the Sentry.
I have absolutely zero faith for the Disney+ service. I think Shamalyan could play up the horror aspects fairly which pairs beautifully with the source material and would separate it from other titles (Doctor Strange probably being the closest comparison).
Meant to say Sentry's shit. Not paying attention.
I’m actually excited for it since Feige has confirmed they will have very high budgets and he will oversee their production from start to finish. It would be my dream for Moon Knight
When was the last time The Hood brought someone back?
That was kind of his claim to fame, but now he's a washed up loser.
I love how diverse Moon Knight’s cast and lore is
Marc: Jewish
Bushman: African archival
Frenchie: Gay
Khonshu: Egyptian
And absolutely none of that feels tacked on in the slightest. They emphasize character first and everything else second.
Will just cross link it but damn this new Moon Knight Mezco figure looks good
>his brother
While The Bushman is his nemesis, man, bringing The Hatchet Man back from the dead would have been on a whole other level.
Yep, that’s what makes it so great.
I try to take that into consideration when writing my own comic. I have a few gay characters and a bunch of minorities (hate phrasing it like that) but none of those traits are what defines them. They are just extra bits of characterization. What race you are, what your sexual orientation is, what religion you practice, none of plays a role in being a hero and that is what I care about first and foremost. It's one of the same reasons I loved Into the Spider-Verse. Miles wasn't "Black Spider-Man" in that film, he was straight up Spider-Man.
Hammerhead, I think.
>I deal crack and eat leftovers
Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Is this before or after Hood's clash with Frank?
Spider-verse Miles is a sweet cinnamon roll and must be protected at all costs.
What?
Wow, Never thought I would see this mistake again.
user, where did you get these scans?
It's not like this in the trade is it?
I'm not going to lie, If was in Marc's shoes and saw Bushman agian I'd freak the fuck out as it would be a genuine instance if my take on reality was fucked (he was wholly unprepared for what Lemiere had in store).
Fucking stellar ending
This art is absolutely gorgeous
Just....fuck
Not going to lie....I probably would have carved his face up.....not happy about that. I'm kinda petty and more than a little vindictive. He would have been put in the ground the first chance I got. He also would have lost his face again.
What issue was it where MK is fighting his way upstairs in a cheap hotel, Enter the Dragon style? It was story-timed recently but I forgot to write it down so I could buy it.
Moon Knight #5 by Warren Ellis and Declan Shalvey
yeah, good comic that
i don't know what it is either
but yeah, pretty good
oh hold on, you know what we could do?
after i installed the internet and downloaded google i did a web surf on the information super-highway looking for 'moonknight stair fight' and between you and me something amazing happened and now i can talk to animals - it's really cool, and totally secret, and y'know what; life will never be the same again!
The source material were pulp fiction comics, it didn't became horror until decades later.
Oh shilt
the art on this has got me captivated from the start - cheers profbro
Still willing to say he would do it justice. He's probably more experienced with restrained/tense films and straight up pulp might work beautifully with his style. I think if Shyamalan was given the excuse to go nuts he would seize that opportunity like a fat kid seizing the last bubblecake out of the box like the world depended on it..
And that is it for me. I'll see about posting the followup arc in tomorrow in addition to the JLA thread. Stay awesome you guys!!!
100% unrelated to this thread, If I were to do a My Hero Academia storyline would peeps be willing to follow me over to Yea Forums for a bit?? I'm rewatching that show in anticipation for the English release of My Hero Academia: The Two Heroes and just finished the first season. So fucking good. I know it may not appeal to everyone, but it is an absolute treat for fans of the superhero genre and the music alone makes it worth watching. Truly astonishing. A real Plus Ultra show.

You are a scholar and a gentleman. Thanks, mang.
MHA is genius so i will subscribe to your newsletter
My man! That will be my break after JLA.
Got a super secret message for you.
>You make it worth it! Seriously, as long as one person gets enjoyment out of these threads it's worth it. This is an opportunity for people to become acquainted with series they had never been exposed to before. Such an awesome experience.
BIG WHEEL
Thanks
Such a shame he wasn't in the new Spider-Man game.
going commando I see
What a good comic, I'm buying this and the Warren Ellis one asap
This was the page that made me collect this entire run. The whole issue is super fun, but the image of Moon Knight surfing a van is just fucking great.
How did just plow through a giant neon apple unscathed?
