Yea Forums crossboarder here. I've watched a ton of anime, but basically no cartoons.
I watched all of the Loud House. I really liked it. It was very comfy. I also liked RWBY (mainly during the school arcs; not anymore) Problem is, now I have nothing to watch. Can you recommend me some shows like it? I have watched virtually nothing western.
I will not take without giving back. In return, I will give recommendations for anime. Please tell me what you like and I will give you a recommendation for it, to the best of my ability.
A cultural exchange of sorts.

Summer camp island is the comfiest shit on earth and I highly recommend it
I watched the first episode and found the leader witch really funny, but the ntr plot was weird
You seem friendly enough, I'll bite. If you like comfy shows, I suggest the recently released Hilda on Netflix. Its comfy supernatural stuff.
Adventure Time is another really great show. It's an absurd fantasy comedy. But it goes off the rails after like Season 5. Everything before is pure comfy adventuring kino.
Also, if you've really never watched anything western, check out Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's like an anime, without being tryhard and has good action unlike RWBY imo but you like what you like. It's very good. Other general suggestions just straight off the top of my head:
>Batman the Animated Series is capekino
>Courage the Cowardly Dog for comfy but creepy
>obligatory Spongebob because it's probably the funniest cartoon out there
>Gravity Falls is a pretty fun mystery show
>Regular Show is also very fun and has a lot of good 80's references (plus an Evangelion parody if you wanna look that up)
>Venture Bros is kinda hard to get into but if it clicks with you, that's great. Just watch in order. It's fine if it's not for you.
Now, suggest me a fantasy anime that feels like Dungeons and Dragons. Something fun, light-hearted with dungeoneering-type shenanigans reminiscent of /tg/ kinda shit. Preferably, nothing isekai (or if it is isekai, just as long as it doesn't due that typical isekai shit with muh harem, muh literal in-universe game stats, muh OP MC). I've already watched Konosuba btw.
>Yea Forumsnon trying to do a reccomendation thread on Yea Forums
I will drag you back to Yea Forums AND YOU WILL LIKE IT.
Seconding Satan's Hilda rec. Shit's super comfy. While we're on netflix shows the new Carmen Sandiego is a great action show
also forgot to mention, if you like mecha check out Motorcity and Megas XLR. Motorcity has great action and animation. Megas XLR is a funny cartoon about a dude who gets a giant robot and it has tons of mecha references.
youtube.com
Alright, that's all I got recommend me some good shit.
Is this what your average zoomer is like?
Ed Edd n Eddy
Megas XLR
Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
Teen Titans
and at least some of Futurama. If you decide you don't want to, you can stop watching at any point, BUT I highly suggest you finish at least two of them.
I don't need a recommendation, but I do have a question that you may be able to answer. Wanna help me out with that?
Hey Arnold
Regular Show
Phineas and Pherb
Ed Edd n Eddy
I'd recommend Over the Garden wall. The characters can be a little grating at times but it is maximum autumn comf. Watch the series, not the compiled movie. Also, watch with your favorite turkey-day pie nearby.
This!
Also this! Also where are those suggestions, OP?
SCI is literally a show for toddlers
>b-but it’s comfy
Grow a spine and stop sucking a steam of soi daily you mongrel
Thanks for the recs and nice trips
Im not sure about light hearted, but some really good DnD type anime are Goblin Slayer and Grimgar
Both are dark but they're the most DnD type fantasy anime out there.
Goblin Slayer is about a man's quest to holocaust the goblin race
Grimgar has a bunch of people get teleported to a fantasy world and have to survive. It's more realistic than any other fantasy one I've seen.
If your into isekai (where a character gets transported to a fantasy world), that expands your options vastly. Are you? Isekais are more mmorpg though
Gotcha. I like the artstyle of hilda. It lools like a kids book.
Recommend me some old ones you boomer.
I'll help you with your question. Also, what's the adventures pf billy and mandy about? Looks kinda good.
Sorry, what did you need?
This one looks like gravity falls, but a little darker. Will check it out.
Hi trollhunterfag. Wondered how long it would take for you to show up
Living rent free in that head of yours.
Please feel free to ask for recommendations. My repository of anime is bottomless.
Wasn't a fan of Goblin Slayer but I guess I'll look into Grimgar. Thanks dude.
In the first episode two kids named Billy and Mandy get visited by the Grim Reaper because Billy's hamster is supposed to die, and they manage to make a bet, they play a game of limbo, if Grim wins he takes the hamster, if he loses he has to be their "best friend forever"
hilarity ensues. quite a bit of it is dark, since one of the main characters is Death, there's supernatural shenanigans, and it lasted quite a and didn't become a stale husk of its former self like the Simpsons. That's the best description I can give, so if somebody else has a better explanation they can step in and handle it.
>question
So would making a thread on Yea Forums asking what scenes from Yea Forums they'd like to see in an anime be against the rules? I was thinking of doing that and seeing if anybody cared, but I'm not sure if that would be something that could get me banned or not.
Something with lots of suffering please. I downloaded MiA because I heard it's good for that. Something where it gets progressively more and more shitty and grim. Nothing super over the top like Mahou Shoujo Site though pls
Grimgar handles things a lot more mature than goblin slayer. Goblin slayer is all death and rape and shocking, but grimgar is much more milder.
Ha, that sounds great. Thanks. As to your question, I'm no jannie, but I feel lile that would be fine. I'm not sure if people have watched much Yea Forums stuff, sp you might have to provide examples.
If you haven't watched Evangelion, do it now. That show is peak suffering.
Madoka Magicka has lots of suffering, and is the best anime of the decade thus far. If you've seen it, there is a knockoff called Yuuki Yuuna wants to be a hero. Not bad in itself.
Made in Abyss is alright up until the last episode, where it becomes really good. If you like suffering, this a good show to watch. That's kind of a weird thing to say I guess, but it's true.
More along realistic lines, Welcome to the NHK deals with a hikkimori NEET, when suddenly a manic pixie dream girl appears, claiming to be able to save him from NEETdom. But he has some resistance to the idea. Hilarious show, a little too real.
Something with pirates besides One Piece.
Ah this one was a little tricky.
There's Bodacious Space Pirates. A normal girl inherits a pirate space ship and a crew full of badasses. But it's kinda generic and set in space.
Oh! Black Lagoon is what you need. It's modern day pirates in Southeast Asia. A Japanese salaryman gets kidnapped on a ship and his company refuses to pay his ransom. While kidnapped, he ends up bonding with the crew or developing stockholm syndrome, depending on how you look at it. Abandoned by his company and his country, he takes up arms with the crew and becomes their diplomat and accountkeeper, as well as a crew hand.
Don't forget Harlock.
i know i'm late but i would like to give a few of my suggestions
>jimmy neutron, one of the best cgi cartoons
>tmnt (2012), another great cgi cartoon, don't remember much of the 2003 series but it's good too
>total drama, canada's best cartoon, you can ignore the last season
>invader zim, one of the best nicktoons with dark and edgy humor, very popular on Yea Forums
Is there anything with Trap X Reverse Trap?
I really liked Bodacious Space Pirates, but you kind of have to put Pirates in quotations.
They're basically hired to fraud insurance companies and give rich folks a thrill.
I've heard that they actually start doing real pirate shit later on in the books, but that's like, right after the point the anime ends.
Jackie Chan Adventures.
Well, they're having none of it, haven't been banned though, so there's a plus.
So does anybody here think I can make the thread here, or am I screwed?
None of us like the pilot, ignore it and watch the actual series. The NTR thing is totally and permanently dropped and the art style is better.
>I watched the Loud House
I already view you as a bottomless low-life for liking that pedophilia ridden garbage.
Mariaholic is about a tall tomboy lesbian who by matter of circumstances ends up rooming with a guy who crossdresses. It's made by shaft so its well animated
Let me think for a bit and I'll probably come up with more
>I already view you as a bottomless low-life for liking that pedophilia ridden garbage.
well he started the post saying he was from Yea Forums
if you are interested in French cartoons watch wakfu and lastman
Sure here's one. Samurai Jack.
Now recommend me a samurai-styled anime that doesn`t take place in feudal japan. Can`t stand that setting anymore.
Justice League animated series is pretty top notch.
And I have a soft spot for X-men evolution.
Looking for a long-ish anime with really good build-up and a satisfying conclusion. I ain't picky.
I hear the french make high quality cartoons. Ill check those out. What are they about?
Real talk though. I visited the Loud House general on trash and those people are straight fucked. What the actual hell is wrong with that fanbase.
I'd say post where you think there is the most diversity in shows people watcg. Yea Forums maybe?
Yeah I shouldn't have forgotten it. Slipped my mind. This might be your best bet.
I watched Invader Zim as a kid and really liked it, though that was peak edgy. I might watch total drama island cause I like the setting of it.
Thanks for the rec.
Define Samurai-styled.
I don't really like superheroes that much. Would I like this?
If you like long anime, the classic ones are the ones to look for. Highly recommend Ashita no Joe for that purpose. It's a boxing anime about a delinquent from the 70s. Seventy episodes and the emotional journey of Joe is heartbreaking.
Rose of Versailles is also good. 40 episodes set in revolutionary france as a girl raised as a boy named Oscar defends Marie Antoinette's honor during that period. Also from the 70s
Those two are my favorite anime, but there's a lot to choose from. If you have any idea of a setting or story type to narrow it down, be my guest.
>I hear the french make high quality cartoons. Ill check those out. What are they about?
Lastman and wakfu are very anime inspired and are part of bigger franchises (lastman it a prequel to the comic) but you don´t need to read or watch any of that to get it.
wakfu is the confy adventure show that has cool action scenes and a great villian that everyone on Yea Forums loves: Lastman is a cool action show about a boxer fighting supernatural stuff, it has a lot of violence and sex.
>Real talk though. I visited the Loud House general on trash and those people are straight fucked. What the actual hell is wrong with that fanbase.
Dude, have you seen those incest children ocs they made? that shit is goes way deeper than channel-tans or any project Yea Forums has made
i suppose i just made up the term samurai-styled. I guess a more technical definition would be a martial arts/shonen anime, revolving around the usage of swords/weaponry as the main form of combat. Examples of what i`m looking for what be Afro Samurai and Rurouni Kenshin.
The only caveat would be that the anime's setting can not take place during Feudal Japan, where samurais were more commonplace.
Not him, but try Samurai Champloo
>Ed, Edd n Eddy (start with season 2 though)
>Courage The Cowardly Dog
>Over The Garden Wall
>Samurai Jack
>Ben 10 (continue on with the sequel shows if you get invested)
>Recess
>Philmore!
>Jackie Chan Adventures
>Hey Arnold
>Harvey Beaks
>Nickelodeon Ninja Turtles
>Avatar: The Last Airbender (watch Korra if you want, it's a hit or miss)
>Danny Phantom (don't watch Phantom Planet if you end up liking it)
Cartoon Kino just for you my brother from another board.
>I don't really like superheroes that much. Would I like this?
Tough call, lazy answer would be for you to watch and find out, but that's not the spirit.
Evolution is superpowered high-schoolers saving the world while still trying to have normal teen fun on the side
Justice League is a distillation of the best DC had to offer, but if comic heroes never interested you it might not be for you. That said, If I had to recommend anything hero related, JL would probably top that list.
Watch Avengers:Earth's Mightiest Heroes, fun action show with a catchy opening theme. Also makes good use of the Avengers as a team AND individuals youtube.com
I fried watching season 1 of eee and it wasn't that good. Is season 2 better? I'm gonna underline over the garden wall and samurai jack now.
>jackie chan adventures
Is this an inside joke or an actual show.
Hm... There's some good manga for that like Kimetsu no Yaibu.
When it comes to anime, perhaps Golden Kamuy? I haven't seen it, but it's about an Ainu girl traveling with a japanese soldier.
I suppose Attack on Titan is kinda samuraiy? They wield swords and slay giant titans like in Shadow of the Collosus. It's pretty western inspired though.
Kabaneri would be a better recommendation. It's about a zombie apocalypse that takes place in not-Japan with trains that travel between fortified cities. A boy mechanic invents the first gun and gets caught in a whirlwind. Its Samurai in the sense of rigid traditional Japanese but it doesnt take place in normal Japan.
Jojo if you haven't already.
There's the stock standard Inuyasha, Bleach, Naruto stuff, but those are so popular they probably wouldn't help.
Princess Principal has a samurai main character in not-Britain who plays a pretty big role.
This is tough because there is alot of really good unconvential samurai shows in feudal Japan, lile Katanagatari or 60s Dororo
I'm gonna call it there before I start scraping the literal bottom of the barrel. Your best bet is Kabaneri, though I have trouble recommending that, because I ended up dropping it. Perhaps you will like it better though.
Samurai Champloo takes place in feudal japan
Evolution sounds fun. I like when there is slice of life moments in between. Strange question, but on the topic of superheroes. Have you read worm, and if so, what would you recommend comics/cartoonwise that most encapsulates that.
>Is this an inside joke or an actual show.
It's an actual show that got 5 seasons and nearly a hundred episodes.
I said before in a previous comment, but I dont like superhero stuff too much. Still, thank you for you rec. What kind of show would you be interested in from across the Pacific?
Haha you're right. Weird. Is it any good? What's the general plot?
>>jackie chan adventures
>Is this an inside joke or an actual show.
youtube.com
the guy that recommend jimmy neutron here, i'll be fine with any anime as long as it has a cute nerdy boy that's apart of the main cast
Anything high fantasy? Watched Goblin Slayer (low fantasy) recently and loved it.
Xiaolin Showdown OP
The old one not the new one
a lot of those are pretty good but i'd add kablam to the list
>Have you read worm?
what worm, dune?
The enemy changes every season.
The plot of the first one is that Jackie is an archeologist who lives with his uncle that own an antique shop, and suddenly gets his niece Jade, dumped on him.
Then some thugs come around looking for Talismans, which Jackie has no idea about.
His old friend, Captain Black shows up when he's attacked by a shit load of ninjas and fills him in that the creeps were sent by the Black Hand, a powerful criminal organization looking for 12 magical talismans, one for each of the Chinese Zodiac, each with a power granted to the holder. Snake has Invisibility, Rooster has Flight, other wild shit.
You find out that they want the talismans so they can revive their leader, a fucking dragon named Shendu, who is trapped in a statue.
a lot of celebs have cartoons
Go watch all the original Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoons that you can find made by Walt Disney before he left to create Mickey.
1927-1928.
You need Slayers in your life.
I expect you to know the entirety of the prayer for the Giga Slave by next week.
Haha why is this so well animated? I guess I'll have to watch it now.
Not an anime, but on second look, Dungeon Meshi is way more lighthearted than Grimgar and Goblin Slayer. Also I just realized I hadn't read the bottom part of your post. Sorry.
First impressions of some things.
Over the Garden Wall was really good. Gonna continue that.
Hilda was really good. I think I'll watch it with my little brother.
Bill and Mandy seemed subpar. I like Mandy and the Reaper, but Billy was fucking annoying.
Summer Camp Island seems decent, now that they did away with that stupid drama. I'll watch it for the witch girl.
I watched a fair bit of Futurama a while ago. It was alright, but I dont think I'll return to it.
Total Drama Island is really funny. Good characters too. Reminds me of my days at summer camp. Good rec.
can you tell me why people like gs, it just looks like zack snyder the anime in the worst way possible
>why is this so well animated
Because it was made in the heyday of action cartoons.
Is that the show where he disowns his lesbian daughter? Oh wait, that's real life.
there are people who enjoy watching violence and gore. its kinda similar to why people like horror.
Camp Camp from RT is pretty good, and I imagine you'll like it if you like RWBY ( or even if you don't like RWBY).
EEE is western cartoon kino season 2 and onward. And don't be fooled, Jackie Chan Adventures is legit, way better then a celebrity fronted cartoon has any right to be.
It's kind of like Berserk in that beneath the gore and violence, there's a philosophical point being made.
When everyone is focused on solving the big problems, who takes care of the little problems?
Killing goblins is considered bitch work, especially when there's a Necromancer pillaging the countryside and building an army to attack the capital. So every adventurer is trying to get their name made being the one to defeat him.
Except for the Goblin Slayer, who has a vendetta and a single minded focus.
If you like comfy stuff, I'd definitely recommend Craig of the Creek. It's about a group of kids having adventures in a creek, and they really make you feel like it's a world of its own. (See also Clarence / Harvey Beaks)
If you're also thinking about movies check out anything by Laika and Wes Anderson's two animated movies.
>anime recs
It's been so long since I've watched any non-Toonami anime. I saw the first episode of Goblin Slayer and didn't care for it. If you got any wrestling anime or something along the Cowboy Bebop/Mitchiko & Hatchin vein that'll be great.
>wrestling anime
Kinnikuman is what you soul craves.
so the fans are just sick fucks (no offense), what gets me the most is that the fans have a weird hatred towards the people that understandingly don't like that stuff, a good chunk of them even sexualize it
>its kinda similar to why people like horror.
violence and gore isn't true horror it's disgusting, hollywood basterdized the entire genre
Didn't like slayers. Seemed a little bit too campy.
Haha watch March Comes in Like a Lion. About a pro shogi player who is a high schooler. He is also seriously depressed and alone in life since his parents died and he ran away from his adoptive family. However, he meets a family of three parentless girls and their grandpa, who he becomes acquainted with. Really well animated and good feels.
Lots. Give me a second.
Kablam?
Nah, the webnovel about superheroes. It's really good and I crave anything even a fraction as good as what it is.
Sounds fucking incredible.
Looks like absolute garbage.
Not a bad idea. I dig older media.
Baby's first edge and who doesn't like the concept of Doom in the fantasy world. Probpem was, it wasn't Doom in the fantasy world.
Based chinks
Is it a summer camp show? I like those.
Got it.
Hinomaru Sumo is super good, way better than a sports anime has any right to be. I watched it with my friend who wrestles and we couldn't stop wrestling after every episode. So much fun.
Now I'm gettung recs. I shoulda put MtoH on my list back when I first saw it. Judging by what it looks like, I'd say Black Lagoon? Could probably come up with a couple more if you give me the premise.
Will watch Craig of the Creek
I'll let the intro speak for itself.
youtu.be
Anything that depicts non-humanoid aliens would be cool.
does it really have to be dark though or is that just a way to get people talking
>ctrl+f
>"zombiel"
>little box turns red
Wait a minute, motherfuckers.
Also mentioning Chihayafuru because that show can't get enough love.
Ballmastrz 9009 has a wry take on anime tropes and Netflix's recent smattering of animated offerings has been p. great. The Dragon Prince is especially comfy and full of top shelf waifus and husbandos.
>March Comes in Like a Lion
already say that, stopped watching because it was bad for my ocd, but thanks anyway
>I've watched a ton of anime, but basically no cartoons.
How does that happen if you're an average American? You should have gotten a healthy dose of both.
Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
When everyone ignores the little problems, shit can get pretty dire.
>thinks GS is anything but zoomer's first dip into edgyness lite.
my sweet summer child
i'm not the op but i recommend sgt. frog
I've seen Kinnikuman, it's good shit. But I'm kinda looking for something like GLOW but animated.
I didn't even think about sumo anime, thanks dude.
>Didn't like slayers.
Okay, this is a troll thread. Everyone either ignore or shitpost.
Looking back, [THING!] the Animated Series was way more common those days.
>Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
i'm sorry but i don't know the meaning of this saying, first time it came to my attention
The Spectacular Spider-Man. It's often regarded as one of the best adaptations of the web head, and for good reason. It's written phenomenally, the animation is good, and you care about the characters. Sadly, it was cancelled after 26 episodes.
it's not even summer
"A little of this, a little of that".
Well, what are you looking for?
Fate/Zero is high fantasy, but not in the convential sense. It has the mysticism around magic and the supernatural, but is set in the modern day. Maybe I'm gettung the high fantasy definition wrong
People like DanMachi, I think it's meh. A little to animey, but it fits the description (I think)
Zero no Tsukaim takes place in a traditional wizards school. It's alright but sort of tropey. Kinda like Harry Potter, if Harry Potter was a girl, loli, a jobner and owned a disobediant slave
Mahoutsuki no Yome is about a slave girl with magical powers bought by a skulled demon. He is actually a pretty nice guy, all things considered. It's slice of lifey.
I'm realizing none of these are very convential adventure stories.
Now that I think of it, Mahoujin Gururu (the old one) is very lighthearted fantasy show. But instead of playing on Dnd tropes, it plays on the original Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest tropes.
I suppose I lied. I've watched a decent sum (gravity falls, star vs. as well as the other stuff on when I was a kid) , but you guys have watxhed way more than me.
How was it bad for you ocd? Just curious.
Let me think of some more.
Dude it's not well animated, the characters are cringy. I watched the first couple episodes and it was not very good.
well ok then, not sure if that makes sense in the context but thanks anyway
not "that" summer
This. You have to be one ADD addled zoomer to not like Slayers.
>How was it bad for you ocd? Just curious.
it pretty much has everything to do with that girl, his "sister"
Something a lighthearted and episodic that's relatable but not with dated humor. Like Loud House i. That it is geared for kids, but also has genuinely amusing humor. That discounts a lot of those nineties shows, because they're jokes are really dated.
Also that other guy was not me.
Redline. Most of the aliens you'll be seeing will be humanoid because the central plot is about driving race cars, but there's still a healthy dose of body weirdness appropriate for a sci-fi setting.
Love slayers, gonna watch it again though. Thanks!
Meh, it's a fun, somewhat goofy edgelord action show. Long as you don't take it too serious, it's fun. also guild girl is love
I've seen Black Lagoon, really enjoyed it.
As for premise, I can't really tell you. Honestly I think as long as it has an atypical plot with a decent soundtrack I'm good. (I don't know if it helps, but maybe something like Monster?)
The World God O ly Knows has a "nerdy" protagonist who is really go at eroge and get conscripted by the god of love to make bitches fall for him.
Welcome to the NHK has a major nerdy supporting character who is actually a really good guy.
In This Art Club Has A Problem! The male lead is an otaku who disregards the female lead who is wet over him.
Steins;Gate and Chaos;Head are exactly what you're looking for (though the VNs are better).
Gantz if you want some really fucked up shit but certainly fulfills your criteria.
Also Made in Abyss has some horrible alienish monsters but none more horrible than the human characters.
I can confirm that TWGOK's protagonist is indeed cute.
>Long as you don't take it too serious, it's fun.
but isn't it supposed to be taken seriously
thanks, tbqh i know about two of them but didn't start watching them
>make bitches fall for him.
i guess that's one way to put it
There only 2 good celeb cartoon are Jackie chan adventures, and it´s not that great, it gets pretty repetitive
And then there is mike Tyson mysteries, which is a parody of celeb cartoon and it gets really weird and mess up at times
Have you tried Kino no Tabi (the original)? A tomboy girl rides around on a talking motocycle visiting some very strange countries.
In terms of atypical plots, something like Lain or Haibane Renmai would be my best guess. Both stunning works made by a great director with a great soundtrack. Lain is more cyberpunk/religiously motifed, while Haibane Renmai is comfy
Worlds End Tour is atypical with a good soundtrack. Two girls ride around a postapocalyptic cityscape on a Motorcade. Very comfy, very depressing.
I really should watch season 2 of this.
You know what, i`m willing to give Kabaneri and Kimetsu no Yaibu a shot. Thanks user.
May you also enjoy your recommendations as well
he's why i got interested in the series, but i'm afraid to watch it due to shipping reasons
>I really should watch season 2 of this.
I recommend it for the last episode alone. Jokes aside, TWGOK is a great series. I recommend reading the manga too if you enjoy it a lot.
>i'm afraid to watch it due to shipping reasons
Just know that there is an end game ship. Pic unrelated.
It's Japanese "there was a point where this was edgy enough but let's keep making it edgier and see what happens" humor.
The reason the suicide rate in Japan isn't higher is because they had to learn how to be masters of deadpan.
well, that's a tough one. Humor is really hit/miss across people.
Well, they say slapstick is universally funny, so I'd rec old stuff like Tom&Jerry, Roadrunner, Animaniacs, etc.
Give me the best use of steampunk that you know of.
Yaiba fits kinda loosely
>Give me the best use of steampunk that you know of.
Girl Genius, but unfortunately the pacing went to utter shit when it swapped over to being a webcomic.
>Just know that there is an end game ship. Pic unrelated.
is she a tomboy
Kabaneri does steampunk quite well. I recommended it above.
Also Princess Principal is about British spies in not-Europe. Pretty gokd for the spy portions and lots of high class politics
I guess she looks like one but isn't. If it helps, there is an actual tomboy in the show.
OP here. Think I'm gonna bail on this thread. Have fun guys. Let's do this again sometime.
Moomins for maximum comfy.
Looking for something with maximum hype.
sorry but it doesn't help, my favorite kind of ship is with a nerdy boy and a tomboy, it's just so cute to me, thanks though
I get you user. They were my favorite ship too but I was fine with the canon ship.
One last rec cause it's an easy one.
No Game No Life has two hikkis a brother and sister teleported to a fantasy world where everything is decided by games
Code Geass is a mecha anime in a world where Britain conquered Japan. Lelouch is a britanian elite sympathetic with the Japanese terrorist's cause.
Cross Ange is about the crown princess of a magical utopia being sent to lesbian rape island to fight dragons.
Even if you don't like mecha, those two are good.
Theres some good manga like Fujiwara san if you're looking for that kinda stuff.
it's nice to find people with similar interests in ships
>Theres some good manga like Fujiwara san if you're looking for that kinda stuff.
thank you
>Cross Ange is about the crown princess of a magical utopia being sent to lesbian rape island to fight dragons.
wtf
This is a cool thread, I support this kind of fraternizing going on.
Wondering if anyone has any anime recs that are akin to Adventure Time, and while it's hard to describe exactly what I'm looking for I'm thinking stuff along the lines of
>two male main characters that have a brotherly relationship
>coming of age story about boy becoming man
>action/adventure escapades and shit
>fantasy setting with monsters, kingdoms, heroes, stuff of that sort
I'm mostly looking for stuff about good bros having fun times in a fantastic larger than life setting like this, or really anything with characters that have a respectful, loving relationship that still has room for bantz in it like Finn and Jake.
When it comes to me reccing stuff I don't have much since the only anime I've watched in the past few years have been
>Shimoneta, that one about lewd jokes and sex being outlawed by the Japanese government
It was okay, nothing special. Decently likable characters and they managed to give the MC a decent reason for turning down all the girls that inevitably want his dick.
>The Devil is a part timer
Devil from an alt universe works at a fast food place, funny enough though falls into a lot of what felt like standard tropes.
>Ajin: Demi-Human
Actually pretty cool, world where demon ghost things exist and make those they possess unable to be killed and the MC gets taken by one and has to deal with it and shit. The animation is some kind of 3D/2D mix that can be pretty distracting but I think is kinda neat. Has some interesting concepts in it.
Its way darker, but fullmetal alchemist kinda fits.
Gurren Lagaan for the recommendation has the bro relationship
So does Akira
Neither are fantasy though
Fullmetal Alchemist they are literally brothers.
Zankyou no Terror has bro like relationship (they're both terrorists though)
Penguindrum is good, but it's more about family than brothers specifically.
I realize none of these are the conventional fantasy setting.
I was already interested in this and had forgotten, thanks for the reminder.
What do you think is the best between the manga and two versions of the anime?
I think the bro aspect is more important, as long as there's a fun place for them to do stuff in I'm happy. Thanks man!
Though from what I know of Akira it's a lot darker than most of the other stuff.
my my my my my
what a splendid post, user
You should have given some info about what you like. Also movies or shows?
>Over the Garden Wall
Really nice and compact magical folklore-y adventure with some truly scary bits in too. Wonderful atmosphere.
>Gravity Falls
Zany fun meets supernatural mysteries, there's a lot to figure out for the fans too, secret codes and such. The second season with the overarching plot coming to conclusion is a bit weaker but still good.
>Venture Bros.
Great parody of old "heroic boy" spy cartoons. Awesome humor.
>Bojack Horseman
A has-been actor struggles with everything while trying not to be a piece of shit. Pretty great and also depressing.
>Samurai Jack
The adventures of a samurai fighting evil.
>Avatar: The Last Airbender
Epic adventures in pseudoasian culture feat. magical elemental powers. A landmark series.
>Moomin
Based on a Finnish book / comic series, this is as comfy as it gets. Seriously, check it out.
>The Adventures of Tintin
FrancoBelgian comic classic in animated form. A young reporter has adventures in the 1930s (?) all over the world.
Ronin Warriors
Gintama
Samurai 7
That one Highlander anime movie.
Drifters
Gurren Lagaan for story/action
Space Dandy for slice of life esque adventures
these are prolly as close as you're gonna get without getting too story driven
Venture Bros
Moral Orel
Samurai Jack
Sym-Bionic Titan (do yourself a favor and find the 1080p rips; this show is gorgeous)
Over the Garden Wall
Star Wars Clone Wars (2003-ish, 2D)
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (the 3D one; skip the movie and remember that the first two and a half seasons are kind of janky but that it gets way better from S3 onwards - butt if you're not a Star Wars fan in the first place you probably won't get much out of it)
>Something with lots of suffering please. I downloaded MiA because I heard it's good for that. Something where it gets progressively more and more shitty and grim. Nothing super over the top like Mahou Shoujo Site though pls
Texhnolyze. Great show, top-tier OST and unbelievably depressing. If you want something closer to real life, Welcome to the NHK is great. If you're a NEET and/or failure of a human being it's probably depressing enough to make you think about offing yourself on at least a weekly basis.
>I really liked Bodacious Space Pirates, but you kind of have to put Pirates in quotations.
>They're basically hired to fraud insurance companies and give rich folks a thrill.
Nonsense. Black's law dictionary defines piracy as "A robbery or forcible depredation on the high seas, without lawful authority, done animo furandi, in the spirit and intention of universal hostility" and their actions fit the bill completely. Saying that they weren't pirates would be like saying that a thief isn't a thief because he only steals from those who can afford it and who are wandering around in a bad neighborhood.
It actually means that one answer is as good as the other, with the implication being that both answers are effectively the same and as such it doesn't really matter which one you pick. GS was edgy as fuck to begin with but edge is always a good way to drum up hype so it's not like they shied away from it; it was always going to be what it was and as such the "reason" doesn't matter.
Adventure time
AtLA
Bojack Horseman
Gravity falls
Hilda
Moral Orel
Over the Garden Wall
Samuri Jack
The Venture Bros
Tigtone
Xavier Renegade Angel
12 oz. Mouse
Ballmastrz: 9009

I dont know, but I did find this interesting clip on youtube. youtube.com
Thanks a bunch dude. I've heard good things about Kino no Tabi and I know Lain's a 90s classic. Gonna give all four a try.
>Jackie Chan adventures
Great gotta collect them all show. I especially like season two since they have like over 20 standalone episodes after the main arc. Those filler episodes also introduce 2 out of the 3 remaining seasonal bad guys
>Kim Possible
Nice parody of spy flicks, although Kim can come across as a bit of a sue. If you don't like the character of Ron Stoppable I'd advise stopping at season 1 since he gets a ton of focus in the later episodes.
I recently entered the world of slice-of-life mangas and the like. I've read Galko-chan and Komi-san. Any recommendations for me?
>Saying that they weren't pirates would be like saying that a thief isn't a thief because he only steals from those who can afford it and who are wandering around in a bad neighborhood.
I'm saying it because they have an agent that works with the insurance company, and the rich folk get all their stuff back later.
>slice-of-life
Azumanga Daioh
Duke of Death and His Black Maid
Kimi Ni Todoke
Yancha Gal no Anjo-san
Yakumo-san wa Edzuke ga Shitai.
Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon
Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san and it's sister story, Karakai Jouzu no (Moto)Takagi-san
If you like Komi-san you'll like the better version of it's premise, coming in the form of Senryu Girl
Aharen is a pretty good in general.
Scum and Glasses and Literature Girl (NOT SCUM'S WISH)
You forgot Minami-ke and Non Non Biyori.
>Yea Forums crossboarder
Fuck off and go back.
I have some recommendations (some that are obscure, as well):

>Bob's Burgers
Well, that's the most obvious stuff from me - in current decade, of course...
Also...
>Dan Vs.
>Young Justice
>Ballmastrz 9009
>Future-Worm!
Maybe...
>Rick & Morty (remember... Maybe.)
same user
same user that recommend invader zim, i just wanna say i also recommend villainous and my life as a teenage robot
a few I didn't see mentioned.
Powerpuff Girls
>cute superhero girls, crazy fun enemies, nice balance of occasional "ordinary life" stuff, pure escapism, you will fall in love with the girls
Mission Hill
>short lived cult animated sitcom, somewhat cynical but with likable and not annoying characters, funny dialogue
Ren and Stimpy
>insanely energetic slapstick, not for everyone but worth giving a look for the sheer influence its artistry had on american animation at the time. the creator was fired during the second season and the show fell off hard after that, so if you don't find anything charming in the first two seasons don't continue
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
>very sarcastic talking inanimate object roommates in increasingly absurd scenarios, abusively funny dialogue. featuring the greatest character in the history of television, see pic
i'm basically you but the reverse. i know a handful of jap shows but never really sought them out. Have you ever seen Unico or any of Toei's old movies like Puss in Boots? I love old japanese fantasy movies like that. if you could recommend any shows or movies like that that would be awesome. thanks Yea Forumsnon.
Samurai Jack
Avatar the Last Airbender
Steven Universe
Teen Titans
Megas XLR
Adventure Time
Amazing World of Gumball
Spongebob seasons 1-3
Simpsons seasons 1-7
Adding Over the Garden Wall and Batman the Animated Series
>that one highlander anime movie
i had completely forgot this was real
>Not an anime, but on second look, Dungeon Meshi
Dungeon Meshi is too good for this world.
Dexter's Lab, but only the first two seasons.
Recess
Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
I recently watched Hi Score Girl, and would love more anime or manga like that. Ive already read Dennou Kakugi MephistoWaltz and Itsuka Minoreba but they were both too short. So anything about arcade fighting games.
Tomo-chan wa onnanoko
Yancha Gal no Anjo-san
Please dont bully me, Nagatoro-san
how many here are cross boarders from Yea Forums anyway? some of you seem more knowledgeable of their own board subject than they are
crossboarders of Yea Forums and Yea Forums has one thing in common
>only here for the waifuposting
>goes to derail the other board when fails to get the thread working on his board
>dunks the waifu of the month in the bin faster than the speedforce on cocaine
Yesterday I went to check out Yea Forums on a whim and saw an user from Yea Forums asking about other cyberpunk stuff after having watched Alita. Mod banned him and locked the thread, warning the anons who answered him.
Fuck Yea Forums.
>Mod banned him and locked the thread, warning the anons who answered him.
Based.
EVERYBODY ITT NEEDS TO WATCH THE TRAGEDY OF MAN! Best animated movie I've ever seen. youtube.com
Unlike here, where friendly anons gave helpful suggestions and discussed the finer points of the topic proposed.
Yea Forums can suck it.
>Unlike here, where friendly anons gave helpful suggestions and discussed the finer points of the topic proposed.
Yeah, but also unlike here Yea Forums doesn't have a catalog packed with shitposts, thinly veiled /pol/ bait, twitter threads and other assorted asinine bullshit that's only tangentally on topic.
So you're saying Yea Forums anons are more fun-loving and friendly on average than the bitter, angry gate-keeping turbofaggots of Yea Forums?
Yeah I kinda got that vibe too, like I said Yea Forums can suck it now and forever.
You shouldn't.
Say what you what of Yea Forums, but the fact that 99% of the threads there are on-topic is amazing.
There's a reason /wsr/ exists. Rec threads have their entire own board.
This thread is very wholesome, I’m glad faggots from different walks of life can share what they’re passionate in
Japan generates a fuckload of content for them to discuss. Yea Forums is lucky to get a decent pile of new shows and seasons a year, while Yea Forums requires infometric charts just to navigate all the shit they get every season.
