Latest episode was in mid 90s Japan. I don't know how much of this is accurate or just stereotypical. Did market people dress in traditional garb? In any case, it was the weakest of the latest three episodes, no surprise considering it's a baby bears episode.

There were a LOT of problems with this episode, given how they went out of their way to get an actress that can actually say 'ramen' properly. That was nice. but holy crap, let me see if I can even list the problems, after bumping us up from page 9..

I heard that she was born in Japan and moved to America when she was 13. It's weird how "authentic" is kind of off-putting.

Okay so first of all, traditional garb is appropriate for summer festivals, and they DID establish it's summer, so I'll give that a pass.
I also automatically forgive any time a show just decides to go duolingual for no reason, because it just.. sounds better. Nevermind the universal translator shouldn't let random bits of klingonese through.
but jesus christ, the problems..
Tanuki are not fucking raccoons. I realize that's been a thing in american translated shows and games for ages, but they aren't. They certainly don't go through people's garbage like raccoons, they're goddamn endangered.
How did that lady know panda was a vegetarian? He just said he'd eat anything. I mean yeah he's a panda, but they only eat bamboo, not vegetables in general, and that's because they can't catch anything faster.
Why is panda already good at using chopsticks?
Did she seriously never consult her dad's recipe book before? That seems to be the implication.
How was she able to go spend so much money at that market if she's running a failing restaurant? The watermelon slices alone should have represented like 80 bucks.
Why did she ask a one-foot-tall polar bear cub to grab something up high?
The pot still had enough left in it for one bowl, though Grizz did sprinkle it with 'floor broth' by trying to get some in there. She should have at least tried to serve it.. but then, you also don't dump all the toppings in the broth, so what the fuck.
Finally it was pretty fucking convenient that customer was like "got anything cold to eat?" at a ramen shop.
Girl was cute though. hella cute. I like this show.

so they keep jerking off over asian culture? skip

The show is basically made for asians at this point because of how big a deal it is there

I dunno dude, usually when you jerk off over something you want it to actually be that thing, not just a clumsy paintjob
this is somewhere between xiaolin showdown and yin yang yo in terms of 'asian culture'

>Tanuki are not fucking raccoons. I realize that's been a thing in american translated shows and games for ages, but they aren't. They certainly don't go through people's garbage like raccoons, they're goddamn endangered.
I didn't even think about this. I was thinking more of they're mythological and she's just being superstitious.

>How did that lady know panda was a vegetarian? He just said he'd eat anything. I mean yeah he's a panda, but they only eat bamboo, not vegetables in general, and that's because they can't catch anything faster.
It was a crash cut. I assume he mentioned it.

>Why is panda already good at using chopsticks?
Anime. He's a weeb from birth.

>Did she seriously never consult her dad's recipe book before? That seems to be the implication.
I thought it was she never got good ingredients. She had all that determination but never did the most basic shit.

>How was she able to go spend so much money at that market if she's running a failing restaurant? The watermelon slices alone should have represented like 80 bucks.
Shit why are 90s watermelons so expense? And I assumed it's her daddy's money.

>Why did she ask a one-foot-tall polar bear cub to grab something up high?
That was really dumb. Maybe she thought he'd use a bear sized ladder or saw him ninja some shit before.

>The pot still had enough left in it for one bowl, though Grizz did sprinkle it with 'floor broth' by trying to get some in there. She should have at least tried to serve it.. but then, you also don't dump all the toppings in the broth, so what the fuck.
I didn't think it was enough, but maybe I'm just misjudging the size of the pot compared to the bears.

>Finally it was pretty fucking convenient that customer was like "got anything cold to eat?" at a ramen shop.
That's the ways shows wrap up.

>Girl was cute though.
She was fucking cute.

Pretty cool learning about cold melon ramen.

The fact that you interpret any other style of non-western clothing as "stereotypical" and "traditional garb" might reflect more on you than the show. Those work jackets are still worn today, and quite practical.

I've seen them worn as part of cultural festivals, but just googling "Japanese markets" doesn't yield anything like in OP.

This is literally first page for "Japanese street food chef."

Icy Nights' theme is one of the best songs in the series.

>it's a japanese episode
>"that is...most dishonoraburu"
>problem is related to ancient samurai tradition

He's selling raw ingredients, just meat and mochi is festival food. But yeah I could see how they'd casually wear that to represent their business, especially over 20 years ago.

They still wear them today. They're ideal in hot conditions, they're airy and you don't get sweat stains.

All I'm trying to get across here is that they're practical. They're not costumes.
