The Super Show seems like it's one of the last "semi-locally produced kids show where hosts introduce cartoons while hawking FOTM shit" ever made. Wake Rattle and Roll is about the only other show I can think of. I suppose Cartoon Planet is also one but I'm not sure if it counts

I have the version of the episode that aired after Milli Vanilli were exposed as lipsynchers on tape/DVD. They muted all references to the songs except for "Girl You Know It's True" and replaced both songs with that generic surf rock music that was exclusive to the SMB3 cartoon. It's funny watching King Koopa's mouth move with nothing coming out then he laughs and says "Blame it on King Koopa! Ha ha ha ha ha!".

The version on the DVD is such a goddamn lazy edit. Those cheap-asses at DIC/Shout Factory really couldn't clear the copyright issues of songs literally nobody passed 1990 cares about? The fact that they just used generic rock while characters still moved their lips was ridiculous. They might as well have just not included this episode on the set.

There's a time in the Milli Vanilli episode where Rob and Fab say "let's sing Girl You Know It's True", and then proceed to lip sync to an instrumental song. I guess they were still performing like they did in real life, though.

Worth noting that they also won the Grammy for best new artist before they got outed. It more or less killed the their credibility and likely did some damage to other award shows as well.

That was 100% American localization and never part of Nintendo Japan's storyline or characterization for Mario. So when Nintendo streamlined all the international releases of their Mario games to follow a singular canon based on the Japanese version around Mario 64 (when Princess Toadstool became Peach, for instance), the idea of Mario and Luigi being plumbers from Brooklyn who found the Mushroom Kingdom through a pipe was jettisoned entirely.

Sort of like when SEGA of Japan unified their Sonic the Hedgehog canons to fit with the Japanese version and things like "Mobius" and "Robotnik" were discarded. Though personally, I think one of the big reasons Nintendo Japan wanted to get rid of all the "Brooklyn plumber" stuff was because the biggest exposure of that version of the Mario Bros was in the Movie, and Nintendo was anxious to eliminate all traces of that thing as quickly as possible, especially in the mid to late 90s.

The German boxset has higher quality footage without the abysmal haloing and compression of the Shout/US releases- but the downside is that it's 25fps, possibly de-interlaced as well.

But Super Show Peach only good point is she has the best face, then SMB3 had her looking overally alright, with more normal arms, and lastly SMW fucked up the coloring and went full Popeye on her.

Admittedly I did hate what they did to her appearance wise later on in the series, but her character was really good and just makes me furious how tasteless Modern Peach is to me. Even Paper Peach is a better Peach than mainline Peach.

It's weird to realize that the so-bad-it's-funny Super Show gave us the best Peach.

I saw a behind the curtain interview with them, right before a concert, and they were asked a question, and the answer was just fucked: "Yeah! Ahswaahugoobudebah OK!! Ihseraahlateruh!" Then they ran onstage a couple seconds after the intro to Girl I'm Gonna Miss You started, waving and clapping, then synched up and started dancing, and were magically somehow singing in perfect english. That fucking clip right there should have exposed them. I think it was ABC.
