Blank slate, how would I start?

The original method of "be an animator" is coming back, so there's that

This is a typical ride at Legoland:
youtu.be/Ddj9NtZE0L8

The themes are really colorful and fun, but it's not as detailed and amazing as Disney. The rides are high action and loads of fun, though.

That's the exceptional ride my man. I have very fond memories of riding the California version as a kid.

Engineering

there getting a soarin type ride soon

Fuuuuck that sounds cool

>Be in Pa
>Off season blues
God I hope the Nickelodeon indoor park in the NJ mall actually opens this year like planned

>in pa
knoebels is the most fun park ive ever been to and yes that includes disney

What's so cool about it?

So what's gonna become of Star Tours once Galaxy's Edge is constructed? Will they get moved to Galaxy's Edge or will they stay in their present locations? Because after getting its own dedicated land, I feel like Star Tours staying where it is in both parks would seriously interrupt the theming.

What sort of renovations are planned in the future for the parks? I know about Galaxy's Edge and the new Mickey Mouse and GotG rides coming to Florida, but is there anything else in the works as big as Galaxy's Edge?

Most likely it'll stay for a couple years, but I can see them tearing it out in Disneyland and putting a new ride there. Not even a simulator there's plenty of space in that building for a lengthy dark ride.

its like going to the fair as a child for the first time
epcots getting alot of changes and of course tron at mk also rumors of a lion king ride and orpandora expansion

Attached: tron disc.jpg (1200x665, 77K)

Plenty, we have Super Mario World and a whole new theme park from universal, and Disney is building a marvel land in California. Details are unflattering on that however.

Try not to be "just an ideas guy", there's thousands of those people online and in the world.

Most Imagineers are probably concept-artists. So look up tutorials and practice digitally painting in Photoshop. Build up a portfolio, and Disney might consider you after 10 years of honing your craft.

Thoughts on the (confirmed) rumors that DL will be scaling back their fireworks shows for the foreseeable future, relying even more on projections/lasers/lights? They're removing the Fantasyland+castle pyro infrastructure (that was installed for the 50th) during the current castle refurb.

For me as a kid and even into young adulthood DL had by far the best fireworks shows anywhere, they really were """magical""". Then with the "surround sound" pyro they installed for the 50th it was something you literally couldn't see anywhere else. Now they're removing that leaving only the main fireworks launchers behind Toontown, and getting rid of the up-close and low level pyro that would shoot off from the castle and around the hub. Personally I don't think lights, lasers, and projections can ever fully make up for the wow factor and spectacle of actual pyro.

Check out Mickey's Mix Magic, the current fireworks show. It's a projection/light show that also has some fireworks (it only has pyro on weekends. It's a pure light/projection show the rest of the week). And management wants it to be the template for all fireworks shows going forward.

This is unironically a good thing. I'm happy with this.

pyros overrated you can see that anywhere

You can also see lasers and lights, and more and more frequently, projection mapping (that are also done better than Disney IMO) at a lot of places. (Check the projections in the video - low framerate, things being projected onto surfaces they don't match, etc.)

The point is this will make the DL resort the only Disney theme park without a "grand scale" fireworks show. And I guess people are OK with that, but it does make me sad since "you can see pyro anywhere" but you can't see an excellently choreographed, emotion-provoking fireworks shows anywhere. You used to be able to at DL (and still can at the other parks). I think pyrotechnics as an artform/storytelling medium is sadly dying.

where can you see projection mapping outside of a park?

Reminder this is yet another Epcot ploy for based Imagineers to save Figment by diverting attention to something completely different in Epcot

And on top of that, Inside Out has a presence in that Play Pavilion's concept art

I'm a sucker for Medeival themes.

Soarin is a great ride but not worth the extensive wait

It sucks because I usually wait three years after new stuff opens due to the five hour line waits. So about 2024 I'll finally get to check out Galaxy Edge.

I just had waffle fries today lol

Inside Out was really boring.

WHOS READY FOR AVATAR LAND 2!!!!!?????!!!!

It feels like the additional movies are never gonna happen, but if they do I worry they'll add shit that Disney will feel obliged to include, shit that'll clash with the original film/land

Land takes place an undisclosed amount of time after the fifth movie.

despacito 2 only at animal kingdom

2 comes out next year
also I heard they left space to add to pandora

Yeah, there was a rollercoaster in the original plans that ended up being cut for budget reasons.

the rollercoaster was supposed to be the main attraction if I remember right also
coaster was to be pandora by land
flight of pasage=air
river journey=sea

Links? I never heard any of those rumors and I've been following theme park rumors since 2005.

Are /generals/ allowed now?

>starring Aerosmith
Fucking lost it

As far as I can tell /tpg/ is an exception since /trv/ is dead and the next best place to talk about them is here.

To think, in another life this ride is an untouchable golden oldie like carousel of progress. Can't really judge though since I've only ever known the whacky senses ride.

That's not an infallible strategy. The main Pandora ride isn't going to get better unless they do a complete overhaul to the queue.
Whose idea was it to have all the pre-ride ambience you usually watch while in line happen AFTER you're separated from the main line, which is usually when you actually get on the fucking ride? It severely inflates the wait time.

I never thought of this but it's a great point.

The entire first half of the preshow should be incorporated into the que

Has anyone done any rundisney events? My friend wants to do either Wine and Dine this year or the Star Wars one next year, so I will probably tag along.

So with the rumor that Universal Orlando is going to open up a Pokemonland, will they finally start to pull ahead of Disney? Harry Potter World already is taking a huge bite out of Disney.

Attached: hqdefault.jpg (480x360, 48K)

I just hope it's not a reskin of Kid Zone.
Pokemon could work as it's own standalone park, they're fools if they squander it on like a jungle gym and a kiddie coaster.

I wanna eat poffins in a Pokemon Center before riding a Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza duel coaster.

Well it's something

For me it's the tower of terror

Question. Best Queue you've ever been on?

I personally love the forbidden Journey Queue but there's something I love in the Amazing Adventures of Spider Man queue that makes it my favorite

Hard mode: No Disney, Universal or Seaworld

So is a singularity created between the holiness of Chick-fil-A food and the absolute depravity of what happens at Vista Way?

A Pokemon Park would be dope if they went all out like with Harry Potter. Everyone gets a starter!

Avatar
ToT
Space Mountain (almost exclusively for the music)

Hard Mode: The queue for the Justice League: Battle for Metropolis at Six Flags Great Adventure was always pretty cool to me.

Cobra’s curse at bush gardens. They have snake habitats in the queue and I was lucky enough to go though while they had a very lively little ball python on exhibit.
The themeing is fun, the line is dimly lit, filled with the scattered notes of the archeologists who abandoned the dig site. There’s walls of moving hieroglyphs, occasionally interrupted by a cgi snake.
Plus, the music is fantastic, and desu, it’s the music that makes a queue.

never forget

Attached: IMG_20181012_151019.jpg (800x600, 99K)

That's the huge thing I said last thread. Disney likes one property or character per park as their "home", and this would be Inside Out's representation

This rides awesome

Man, those imagineers must be pissed that none of the avatar sequels came out or even had trailers by the time they finished building the land.

Attached: 08.jpg (4608x3456, 1.82M)

I love the Test Track 2.0 queue.
The music is nice, the concept car displays are pretty and making my own car for the ride is great.

Attached: Test-Track_Full_17646.jpg?width=1120&quality=80&encoder=freeimage&progressive=true.jpg (1120x746, 108K)

youtu.be/4s82bZPAlgU
>it’s almost impossible to find that drum online
>no audio of the theme music even in the ads
>it’s literally too good for this world.

I'd be pissed that I can't make a single attraction that's not based on a existing IP

You would be used to that feeling by now.

MIB, ET, The Mummy, Star Tours, and Pirates of the Caribbean all have nice scenery for their queues. Haunted Mansion has great stuff to mess with now as well.

It's just something that I can't get over after all these years. You're not allowed to make original ideas at Disney parks despite being most famous for this. Meanwhile you unironically have more freedom for a original story at fucking Cedar Fair parks

The people don't want originality, they want "I KNOW WHAT THAT IS"

What was the last attraction they introduced that was wholly original? How long has it been?

That's true for basically 99% of theme park rides. I have no idea why anyone would wait 2 hours for the seven dwarves mine train when it's like a 2 minute ride.

The last time I went to Disney World there was a horrific rainstorm on the day I went to Epcot, and they had the Test Track closed. I was really disappointed because it's one of my favorite rides.

On the bright side, there was no wait for any other ride since there was no one in the park.

The last one I remember is Expedition Everest and that was 2006

>That yeti is still broken

I appreciate the replies. I'm more interested in implementing perspective tricks and simple animatronics like in Haunted Mansion or Tokyo's Cinderella Castle Mystery Tour. Guess that makes it obvious what sort of things I should focus on first.

Just to clarify, working for a major theme park feels like a nightmare to me. Just enamored with the thought of doing something like this for a local haunted house or a city event.

Attached: 1548483390739.jpg (540x670, 196K)

Everest in America, but the Asian parks still get original shit.

The disco theme is a enhancement.
But why would they fix him when they can retheme it to a IP like Frozen 2 duh

Disney should really exploit the Bigfoot Movie Fad with an Everest or Matterhorn movie

WB beat them to the punch

Smallfoot sure isn't stopping Laika and Dreamworks from doing Everest movies.

Laika are doing a Bigfoot film, not a Yeti film.

A Bigfoot movie about Bigfoot wanting to go to the Himalayas to live with their Yeti kin.

fair enough

As if I'm letting you die, guys.

Thanks

Next thread needs a better OP image and title

Nobody knows what tpg stands for and the picture should catch the eye like Spaceship Earth or something

>tfw no disney kingdoms dinosaur comic giving us the backstory of ourguy seeker

There was a Countdown to Extinction book that came out when the park opened where Dr. Seeker sends his nephew on the Iguanodon rescue mission.

Fuck you and your not appreciating segways. You didn't even answer any of the OP questions.

Im gonna have to find this online and order it
