When you consider the Joker is evil enough to disgust DARKSEID, why doesn't Batman make an exception and kill him?

Kinda makes sense from a publishing standpoint though. You’re biggest hero should have the best villain. Batman’s DCs biggest hero so it would make sense for them to Bat-godify his arch enemy to be worse than Darkseid

That's the problem that comes from making Batman too "powerful", so to speak. It probably started with Morrison's run or around that time.
Up until then, you had Batman being supersmart and shit, but he pretty much always took a backseat in the big events, or found a way to be relevant without having to face Darkseid directly and such.

I liked the Batman that could get knocked over the head with a 2x4 by any street thug. That was actually what made him my favorite superhero since I've never been a fan of overpowered characters. Now they fucking blew it.

It's not about Evil. Darkseid is Lawful Evil, Joker is Chaotic Evil. Joker certainly can't do or think of more vile and awful things to do than Darkseid has done. Darkseid just has a purpose and order to it.

This. Batman's no kill rule is a byproduct of self-imposed censorship by DC that was then given a nice anal instory explanation. I have no problem with Batman not killing, but he should really shut up about it. I can accept that GI Joes never kill anybody and people just parachute to safety. Just move on. Also, the no kill rule is just used to prop Batman up in front of lesser characters with lesser market value to show how noble Batman is cause he always finds a way. It's easy to give sermons when you have your own personal angels in the outfield who will never put you ina kill or be killed situation where you have no choice. And the writers will never put Batman in that situation.
