Well... uhm... ah.... oh...
FUCKING FANSERVICE?

>what's the point of characters having fun?

Bryke wanted to show anime titties on Nickelodeon.

>anime

Chance to give the Fire Nation guys some much needed character development. With that as the A-plot they got to throw Combustion Man at the Gaang in an otherwise throwaway episode.

fap material

so we can understand those characters better, and see firsthand how autistic Azula is. Zuko needed more screen time at the Fire Nation to know that this truly wasn't what he wanted.
>I'm angry at myself!
his recollection of what his family used to be like, those days on Ember Island long ago, was necessary to me. fun little episode and nice introductory action scene for Combustion Man. ATLA has plenty of slower episodes like this but for some reason this one in particular gets labelled as filler seemingly because it moreso followed Team Azula instead of Team Aang.

Attached: The Beach_trim.webm (960x540, 2.4M)

Character building.

Need that filler episode.

We get to see some of the characters at their core. For the pure Azula, she is a strong soldier but is just a girl looking for love but doesn't know how to get it. Also she is incredibly hard on herself and selfless for putting blame on herself for her mother's shortcomings.

ayy

Shut up, Carmen.

They were trying to reduce Azula's sex appeal by showing how autistic she is.

It didn't work.

Too bad they forgot the main villain at home

Unfortunately they left the character development for the last 5 minutes while the rest of the episode is Zuko being miserable around Mai and Azula trying to get dicked by some beach Chad

Book 3 did many things wrong.

putting Ty Lee in slightly less clothing than normal

Nice quads but it's still the best season

its a great season, that much is sure. although its hard to rank them, imho.
although my biggest complaint is that there wasnt enough time and that the fire nation itself wasnt as developed as i would have hoped.

Sometimes filler makes for great episodes.

Attached: WAS THAT A CHALLENGE.jpg (259x194, 10K)

Great example user!

Just rewatched this episode and agree. The last five minutes had very hamfisted dialogue.

It's my favorite season but the pacing is horrible. If they just swapped some of the earlier borderline filler episodes later into the season and moved the invasion snd Zuko joining Team Avatar forward it'd have felt a lot smoother

the pacing wasnt that bad, imho. but it certainly showed signs of time constraints. they needed more episodes.

God, I want to ravage Azula. You just know she wants to be pinned down and filled with gooey love.

Character exposition.

Her autism is what gives her sex appeal,

LOL if you don't like The Beach there's something wrong with you as a person honestly. Please stop posting here misogynist

Attached: 2f3.gif (245x184, 508K)

i hate it when "trans""women" pretend to care about misogyny - sincerely, a real biological female woman

that being said the beach is a great episode.

if avatar wasnt a kiddie show azula and chan would have fucked.

as a cis girl you're definitely superior to me so while I disagree I won't start any debates here - you have my respect for saying you're a girl on this board though, there's a toxic male environment on Yea Forums and it's sick

chan knew better than to stick his dick in crazy.

there was a lot of lewdness in book 3.

It was fun

i dont think stating i have a Y chromosome is brave if its on an anonymous forum

i always found it odd how no one else wised up to azula trying to play sokka on here. i can understand if they were caught up in it too, but wouldnt they have said something after?

you don't have a Y chromosome though, you have XX

now I'm confused

to make my dick hard

showing Azula ‘spilling spaghetti’ like an autistic nerdy girl around chad ruined her character.

nah, it improved it.
dominant girls actually being autistic as fuck is very accurate, in my experience.

this whole scene was weird.
why was azula guarding her dad in the first place? i seriously dont get it. the eclipse took away her bending too which was the whole reason they had Ozai down there so they could protect him while he was vulnerable. they could have just gotten all their soldiers to blockade the exits and trap the avatar inside. why risk the princesses life? ok maybe it was azulas idea but why was ozai stupid enough to go with that plan?

>why was azula guarding her dad in the first place?
zuko was there too, so i dont think she was guarding it as much as they were just going to stay in the same bunker. there apparently were a lot of important fire nation people there so i dont think its that much of a stretch to think that thats where all the important people go in case of an emergency.

wrong. it made her go from 1d to 4d. she had no depth before that scene revealed theres something seriously psychologically wrong with her brain and its not just that she's a bitch

>what's the point of a beach episode?
There is no fucking point.

except azula was acting as a decoy in the decoy throne room. its not like it was an accident that she was there. she was there specifically to act as ozai's decoy.
zuko was just fucking around being generally useless.

>except azula was acting as a decoy in the decoy throne room.
no, there were two of them, remember? ozai had his own throne room when zuko went to confront him.
either the old man who gave the directions misspoke or he deliberately pointed them to azula's room.

Toph in a tube top

Attached: 305 - The Beach.mp4_snapshot_03.18_[2017.06.03_23.03.03].png (1440x1080, 2.3M)

>no, there were two of them, remember? ozai had his own throne room when zuko went to confront him.
thats LITERALLY the definition of a decoy.....................................
>either the old man who gave the directions misspoke or he deliberately pointed them to azula's room.
context clues from the episode in question will reveal to you which of these is true heres a hint its the second one.

>memutharisabear!

replying to you again because im just bewildered that youre even arguing the case that azula wasn't acting as a decoy for Ozai. they literally discuss it in the episode. aang realizes shes just evading and not attacking because she's trying to stall them from getting to her dad. I haven't watched this episode in ten years but i still vividly remember this. I guess what I'm wondering is do you have brain damage?

then azula probably knew that someone was going to come for them and planned accordingly. Ozai probably just trusted her that much.

>capris
>not bikini bottoms
I remember this. It hurt.

im not arguing shit, im just saying that azula might have planned for them to come in all along and just didnt tell her dad.

i think Ozai was in an entirely different bunker.

no shit sherlock, she fucking discovered the planned invasion in the first place, they wouldn't have gone underground if they weren't expecting the avatar to try to show up. your confusion is confusing me

he was. that was the point.

the throne room azula was in was a..............................................................decoy

then why are you even asking why they were in the bunker in the first place?

To put these hot bitches in swimsuits. Are you retarded or something?

Attached: The Trio.jpg (600x778, 91K)

i thought you guys were saying they were in the same one.

Needed an excuse to show Mai and Ty Lee's bare feet.

ONLY PLOT IS RELEVANT
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IS BANNED
FUN MUST ALWAYS BE SECONDARY

why the fuck isnt there any good HOI4 or CIV mods for avatar?

Attached: Map_of_the_Avatar_World.jpg (660x468, 83K)

>then why are you even asking why they were in the bunker in the first place?
who? me? where? i dont know who you think you're talking to or what conversation you think your having but this isn't it.
you can always try reading a little more carefully next time.

>why was azula guarding her dad in the first place?
wasnt this what you were asking?

>Mai and Ty Lee will never step on my dick
Being a footfag is suffering, because I feel the pain of my own deviancy, and the utter lack of sympathy from others.

Attached: 73015971_p1.png (1125x940, 849K)

All im asking is why was azula tasked with defending her dad during the eclipse when she was just as much at risk during the eclipse as he was, shes not even close to as powerful as her dad, and there are a million other ways they could have attempted to keep aang away from the fire lord that didn't also involve putting the princess under an unusually high amount of danger

do you all understand now

if you want something done right, you do it yourself.

just dont think about it and beat you dick.

yeah except if you happen to be fighting the avatar and a master earthbender while you're bending is shut off and then you're fucking dead assuming of course theres no plot armor in hypotheticals.

Attached: V1u8cpy7o5_r1_400.gif (268x329, 1.11M)

i dunno, she seemed to stall them pretty fucking well by talking about suki. plus she might not have even been guarding her dad. he could have been far away in another bunker while she was just luring them into a trap to kill the shit out of them.

A lot of things but I think mainly trying to show that Azula being raised for war has left her unable to function in a non-military situation. Sort of the flip side of how the royalty has been affected as opposed to how the fire nation peasantry have been fucked up with propaganda.

I have a great Azula footfag picture that's my go-to, but it's NSFW so I can't post it here

Ty Lee and Mai feet gtfo, Azula's feet are good to see because she is actually a dominant person

people who have a foot fetish without also having a femdom/sub fetish are scum honestly

azula's chan adventure was pretty great character development. i dont know how they could have made it more clear that she doesn't know how to interpret the world or relationships through any lens other than war. its also the scene that makes it hard for me to believe that ozai was ever a good dad to her either.

Post feet
Kys

They pulled a ryan gosling and made azula a sperg so autists can relate to her

>why was azula guarding her dad in the first place?
Because she is a relevant character and showing the recurring villain taunting the heroes about how foolish they were for thinking their plan would succeed makes for better cartoon storytelling than a Dai Li ambush even if it'd be a really stupid military strategy.

Aang and Toph tried to get him to keep going but he was too pissed off about Azula mentioning Suki so he was trying to intimidate Azula into giving him info about Suki's whereabouts.

I just don't get why the fuck would a competent warrior like Suki even mention Sokka to her captors. The way Azula talks about it makes it look like she tortured Suki so badly that she started crying "Please save me, Sokka" when later on we see her having a normal time in a kinda tame prison.

>why was azula guarding her dad in the first place?
Get basic education. Please.

I don't remember this episode. Which one was it?

Because it's a cartoon and it was the action packed mid-season finale so the heroes have to square off against an established villain and there weren't any other options other than Zuko (who became good in that episode) and Sparky Sparky Boom Man (who wouldn't make sense to be there)

Episode 125: License Mastery? Goku's Newest Trial

It is easy to brush it of as fanservice but it was actually about showing the villains as humans.

There you have it user. Watch it. Honestly DBZ has some amazing filler like the Otherworld Tournament.

Attached: pikkon.gif (385x216, 351K)

Isn't that what Zuko's three season long character arc was already about?

Two reasons. 1) Fapbait. 2) hammer home how these characters are just kids.

I don't know, the episode ending with them all burning down a guy's house shows them more as complete sociopaths even though everyone aside from Azula were already capable of acting mostly normal

What about the others? They barely got any characterization besides being evil cunts. Granted, Azula appears a lot but still has a very one sided portrayal. The Dragon Prince deliberately avoids this by showing not having just black and white morals.

Attached: 1540898693803.jpg (1280x1437, 536K)

Mai and Ty Lee were henchwomen irrelevant in the large scheme of things whose only characterization in this episode ended up being their rich girl problems.

Azula barely got anything other than hinting her mommy issues that would later pay off in the finale. The rest is just comic relief stuff about how she gives megalomaniac rants even while doing mundane things.

>HOI and CIV
Meh, I'd rather have a CK2 mod.

What? This episode was absolutely critical. It showed us some insight on Azula's insecurities and was Zuko's turning point that even realizing everything turned out exactly like he imagined that he is completely unhappy.

It FEELS like your typical Beach filler episode, but it's one of the most important episodes for the plot

>HOI4
no

steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1371120470
no idea if it still works after the last update fucked everything up but im fairly sure you can downgrade ck2 to a compatible version easily enough

>sibling bonding

Attached: 1544959053940.png (1280x1280, 935K)

literally a child can figure it out

The reason why people are harsh on The Beach (aside from it being overhyped by waifufags) is precisely precisely the only Book 3 episode where Zuko and Azula get the A-plot. And despite how great previous Zuko focused episodes have been, The Beach ends up feeling like a huge waste that instead of showing Zuko and Azula dealing with their roles as princes of the Fire Nation and their relationship with Ozai, Azula spends most of her time spilling spaghetti and being an autist while Zuko is moody and miserable for most of the episode and only really gets to deal with what is bothering him in the last few minutes. Sure, they got some character development but it's nothing compared to what could have possibly been in a more plot heavy episode that also gave Ozai some much needed screentime.

So we end up getting a Fire Nation heavy episode where the main villain of the series doesn't show up at all, the siblings that end up fighting each other to the death in the series finale barely interact with each other, but we get Mai and Ty Lee pretending that having social climber parents and too many siblings counts as an excuse for their one dimensional characterization.

>twins
>those tits
Imagine how hot they were some 70 years ago.

why this so hot

Never compare me to that mentally ill fuck.

The taboo nature makes it hot. Incest, or rather fauxcest, is a very mainstream fetish. I suspect so is real incest fetishism, but people aren't as vocal about it.

It was supposed to show that Zuko wasn't happy despite getting his honor back and being welcomed back home.

Also fan-service. Anyone got the original female swimsuit designs that Nick nixed? They were shown at a con once. (Nothing crazy, just normal bikinis with standard bottoms)

Fuck I forgot how good looking this show could be sometimes

>Anyone got the original female swimsuit designs that Nick nixed? They were shown at a con once. (Nothing crazy, just normal bikinis with standard bottoms)

I've been told they are in the series art-book, though I can't confirm. Nick was worried about normal bikini's being too sexual and also about online fan edits. (They didn't want a situation where people would Photoshop the episode to make the girls appear nude.)

>(They didn't want a situation where people would Photoshop the episode to make the girls appear nude.)
But that happened anyway

what is wrong with my question?

It did, but keep in mind it was a different time before a lot of the internet had solidified into what it has become today.

agreed with this. its why i dont get the love for The Beach unless your reasoning is tits, and fair enough.

would have been a much better episode if it was about their lives in the palace since i really feel like we know almost nothing about it.

its retarded that the villain duo (ozai and azula) NEVER interacted on screen other than once in the finale.

the episode was about zuko circlejerking, azula mai and ty lee were supposed to be B plots but it turns out everyone was bored with Zuko's masturbatory whining by that point so the episode felt shallow.

>its retarded that the villain duo (ozai and azula) NEVER interacted on screen other than once in the finale.
outside of zuko POV flashbacks I should say

>I'm not complaining but what the fuck was the point of this episode.

waifuism

Attached: 20181226_134105.jpg (1800x2934, 732K)

My daughter is so beautiful.

>Why are people making extreme efforts to guard the monarchy

Asking that while living in a world that's been doing that for millennia is simply ridiculous

Azula is also part of the monarchy. There wasn't any need for her to be a decoy against invading forces especially when she didn't have any firebending.

I love the idea of villain slice-of-life episodes, and it was good to acknowledge how Zuko's still not happy with getting everything that he truly wanted, but I wouldn't have minded some more personal interactions between the main four characters in general and less awkward party antics.

Zuko and Mai's relationship was always a little bland beyond her weighing her love for him against the fear she has of Azula, and I always wished that Ty Lee had a bit more time to flesh out whether or not she was actually friends with anyone in the group.

Your daughter is a slut who is going to swallow my cum.

Attached: 1544424694512.jpg (447x665, 75K)

One of the best episodes in the show.

It's like you're willfully stupid.

I hope you're never entrusted with anything important in your life.

Why the fuck should the princess supported by only two earthbenders be used as a decoy against large invading forces instead of an actual decoy supported by a sneak attack of non-firebenders?

If Aang, Sokka and Toph weren't meant to be moralfag good guys they could have easily killed Azula there.

Azula knew they needed information from her.

Whats so amazing about Niggolo?

for me i think it's something more sinister. yeah the taboo but also the power. not the power of azula seducing zuko but the power of being able to fuck whoever you want in a royal family (think Game of Thrones and Rome) without any repercussions because you have such power. the royal family kind of incest is the absolute hottest for this reason because of their wealth and the fact that they're living life on god mode already, which means by that point incest is barely taboo for them. i think that's why it's so hot to me

Aside from filler it helped further the development of those characters and make that development more meaningful.

Good, your fetish a shit.

That's still about the taboo nature, just from the viewpoint of decadency.

>beach Chad
He was a Chad until they crashed the Party and burned down his dads beach house.

Beach episodes are ubiquitous and always terrible, from Gurren Lagann to Steven Universe.

Azula deserved more suffering

so where the fuck are they going with azula in this? what did they mean by this.

they decided co was right and she needed to be a sad, crazy victim instead of who she actually was in the show.

>this nigga again

>instead of who she actually was in the show.
A smug, crazy villain?

Insight into Azula.
To show her humanity and desire to be normal and liked but being unable to because she's nuts.
To show Zuko's mixed feelings about being back.

Azula's breakdown would have been massively less effective without this episode.

this.
having those speedo-like bikini bottoms on females as well as shirtless males with swim trunks are more sexually enticing and just perfect for a beach

Agreed. If I had to say what the biggest flaw with Azulas character was, it was rushing her breakdown in the finally.

i miss action show, i miss sequences like this.

storyboards thyis days have no idea how to do action sequences.
you watch SU, adventure time, star vs , no one of these have nice actions sequences,

I could think of two.

Attached: nhGWIVH.png (720x547, 510K)

There's too much competition over Ty-Lee. Imagine if you were magically transported into the Avatar universe, how would you stand out from the crowd among all the beach Chads?

I learn the names of her twin siblings and everytime I see Ty-Lee I greet her with one of those names.

appeal to her personality by talking about acrobatics and shit.

I go for Azula since she seemed desperate for any kind of dick as long as I am able to teleport out of there right afterwards in order to not suffer the consequences of sticking it in crazy

rape her?

“Character development”

Good luck, she lives in an anime universe where she is capable of easily taking down battle hardened soldiers

They're from the Fire Nation

That person isnt even me, i left for work right after i posted .

Jesus thank you. This boards stupidity was making me question my own sanity.

they originally made swimsuits more revealing on purpose and Ty Lee tatas even bigger fully expecting Nick will ask to tone it down

what a retarded post

can you link to it please also nice quads

>not liking mai's pale feet
retarded tripfag

I still think the Beach sucked and the reason is simply because i dont give a fuck about mai or ty lee and i wish they hadn't been involved so heavily in an episode that could and SHOULD have been all about the relationship dynamics between zuko, azula, ozai, and even ursa.

Attached: royalfamily.jpg (1476x1120, 753K)

I agree with this. The Beach and the recap play episode were just filler that could have been used better.

>no fun allowed

You think you can either have effective character development or you can have fun?
Please don't ever write fiction.

>if your story has any fun parts in it then its not good characterization

>ivankazula
>not melaniazula

That is a terrible opinion you've got there, don't know why you're telling it to me though since it seems irrelevant to this conversation.

you were they one saying something is filler because it focused on different characters.

Its filler because its filler. filler episodes are episodes that don't directly advance the plot or where the plot is minor to characterization. if you find that offensive or objectionable then I can't help you. its a filler episode. it could have been a better used filler episode if it didnt focus on pointless characters.

The pointless characters he was talking about are Mai and Ty Lee

i want to smash fauxzula.

Character development. It was to expand the Fire Nation cast. Everyone but the one that needed it the most. I really wanted an episode about Iroh and Ozai like what we got for Zuko and Azula.

I can't believe that it has been more than ten years and we still haven't had a single interaction between them even with how much bryke love sibling relationships

My first girlfriend had Asperger's. Her parents caught it early, though, so she had therapy to help her adapt from a young age, and thus wasn't too noticeable, but you could see the signs if you knew what to look for.

She was one of the sweetest girls I dated, too.

They have plenty of it. Avatar only did it once in a blue moon, and so do those shows.
Take off your rose tinted nostalgia goggles.

i prefer the lecter style of subduing people

That episode was the best in all of Dragonball.

>not crying during the campfire scene

How can you cry watching a scene that has Ty Lee crying "DO YOU KNOW HOW HORRIBLE IT IS TO HAVE 6 SISTERS???"

its an honor thing

I sympathize with Zuko and Azula's issues I do not have any sympathy for Mai or Ty Lee.

Attached: heresyournetflixazulabro1.jpg (914x1024, 113K)

Actually had quite a lot of good character moments for Azula and Tai Lee. The series is better thanks to its inclusion.

Now that fucking Appa episode on the other hand.

Stop, Scrapper/Carmen.

Revealing anything about Azula's "leisure" personality is inherently character development brainlet.

Fun, got to know characters better, got a small idea of what the world was like a bit more outside the war, funny sections.
My opinion was if Avatar didnt have the episodes like this it would have been just decent at best not fantastic like it is. getting to know the character and world plus just having some fun episodes is what made the show truly great.

Also good edit material (the tylee with no bra/bottoms) and good setting for porn parodies.

I think Ty Lee would've made a better consort for Zuko than Mai. I can't put my finger on it, but she feels horribly out of place in Azula's inner circle.

>good setting for porn parodies
