TL;DR They aren't as fun as they used to. Before, it felt like a happy place, now it feels like the tension at the dinner table is about to break and dad's about to bring out his belt.

I'm a drawfag and i think everyone should put themselves in the position of an observer who doesn't know anything about art before complaining that the critique isn't good enough. Remember that for a vast majority of people art education is not only obtuse, but immensely rare and time consuming, and they simply don't have the resources to articulate what looks 'off' about a picture, even if it's egregiously obvious. They don't know how to give critique and they don't know how artists will react to it, many, many artists will go "ok" or get defensive and that is an awkward and frustrating situation to be in for a guy who just wanted to help but didn't know any better. This means anyone who might want to encourage you but also give critique will feel dissuaded from doing it, and someone who is kinda salty and just doesn't care enough will throw you a "this sucks" and move on.
Don't demand non-artists to speak to you like they're Glenn Vilppu himself, simply ask "what part looks wrong?" and see if they actually care about whether the drawing isn't the best it could be. Most of the time the "hate"you receive will be indifference compounded with frustration for having to pretend they give a shit. You will no longer feel insecurity or doubts once you realize that.
