We were poor, the scheduling sucked. If I had the money now, and if it wasn't so fucking creepy, I'd go back and take so many pictures... also like 75% of the food booths were closed.

I went to a rural haunted house thing, and asked the killer clown was saw he used cause it started right up. It was a Stihl.

I was wondering if anyone would link Disney park trivia videos they think are especially good? I know Defunctland was brought up last thread and some said his stuff isn't that great so I was wondering what specific ones you all had in mind. Any Disney park or ride trivia/stories, stuff like that would be appreciated.

Theme Park History and Yesterworld are other pretty great theme park channels.

I honestly didn't mind it as much when Star Wars was still a hot commodity. But now that interest in the franchise is at an all time low, it feels even more wasteful.

Thanks so much user, will check those out.

I thought it was good too but I'm just now getting into all the history and didn't know if it was bad or not.

I've never been to a real theme park. I'm a poor South Dakotan, and it's hard for me to travel the country, but I'm saving up to go to Disney World.

So what attractions, food, and shops should I see there? What are the "essentials"?

>Favorite park?
DL or DCA, Universal gets boring if you're a SoCal native and it's too much of a trek to get to Six Flags.
>Favorite ride?
Big Thunder Mountain for DL and California Screamin'/The Incredicoaster for DCA. I haven't been on The Incredicoaser yet.
>Favorite food?
I'm not seeing it on their menu, but there was this stuffed pasta dish at Wine Country Trattoria that's always order. In terms of desserts it's either that cake Disneyland had during their 60th Anniversary or the fritters from Royal Street Veranda. I'm also a sucker for those Mickey ice cream bars, thank goodness they're available in stores for a little while.
>Favorite /tpg/tuber?
I don't really watch 'em, but some of Defunctland's videos have been interesting.
>Best thing about your favorite park?
Personally? Learning how to make money off of reselling Disney Parks merch. My tendency of "abusing" the Guest Assistance pass was also fun.
>Worst thing about your favorite park?
Star Wars Land is moving in to the main park and that'll more than likely give Disney an excuse to boost the ticket/annual passport prices even more. I also haven't been back to either park since my passport expired last year.
Same only replace Metroid Halloween Horror Nights with a Heartless Halloween Festival at various Disney parks.

Attached: 1547960634311.gif (500x323, 983K)

Shit, I'm not even that big a KH fan but I'd love for at least some glimpse of it to come stateside. It's ripe for both merch and food potential. And it would at least make it look like Disney actually cares about their game division.

>last threads maxes out

These threads are so fickle

These threads are odd like that

If they cared about their game division, they wouldnt have made Kingdom Hearts.

>Favorite park?
Epcot (Animal Kingdom is a close second)

>Favorite ride?
Dinosaur in Animal Kingdom. A part of me will die if the rumors about the Indiana Jones update are true.

>Favorite food?
I'd have to make a list of things I like at Epcot and I really don't feel like doing that.

>Favorite /tpg/tuber?

Disney food blogyes the royalty free music is cancer but I'd argue that they have the excuse of being chippier Disney blogs. I just like hearing about new food updates and a few of their food choices are in line with what my family picks out. Not all mind you but some.

>Best thing about your favorite park?

There's plenty of things to eat and do if you're not into rides that day (I appreciate the Imagineering and the aesthetics of the parks more than actually getting thrills, hence why animal kingdom is high on my list). But if you want to ride things it's got a few decent ones.

>Worst thing about your favorite park?

The fact that so many rides are changing from what they used to be. While I understand it from a business perspective and from the perspective of other people who didn't like the rides/the older versions the fact that Epcot is turning more into an IP farm than something that felt like a cheesy 90's educational park is something that makes me sad. The only ride update (that also involved an ip change) that I liked was the one in the Mexico pavilion. While I hated the change initially the new version grew on me because it actually seemed more like a Disney ride the more I went on it while still incorporating a lot of what made the old version what it used to be.

>Best thing about your favorite park?
I always loved the early century Hollywood feel to the Studios park. Just walking around the park is fun. Also Fantasmic.
>Worst thing about your favorite park?
Aside from everything else that's gone wrong with Studios, I have been absolutely pissed that the old animation studio was converted into a shitty Star Wars hub. I hope to god they change that back once Star Wars Land opens.

>I'm also a sucker for those Mickey ice cream bars, thank goodness they're available in stores for a little while.
I heard the ones in stores don't taste as good but I never had one so I don't know.

Does porn of Buzzy exist? I've never seen any.

Disney probably removed it themselves because it was drawing too much attention to a restricted area

Rumors are floating around Universal wants to retheme the Mummy ride. While this sounds like a terrible idea, how would you retheme the ride?

Attached: 1499925269134.png (500x548, 63K)

this isnt even a real rumor

They wanted to retheme it after that new Mummy movie but it was scrapped when that didn't do so well. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried again with a more successful IP.

I'd be shocked if it wasn't true. Both it and Twister are horribly outdated.

how do people keep on getting into abandoned areas to begin with.

Have any of you guys met the REAL ghost of the Haunted Mansion?

No not some dead kid, or someones husband whose ashes were spread. There is one but no one knows where she comes from.

Some people will mention or ask about the make up effects of some lady who has a name tag "Carol". They describe her as white, almost pale white but very bluish in color. Like her whole body is painted and this causes confusion because she'll be the only GRIM looking cast member.

If you ask her without spotting her, go ahead and watch the members scramble and ask where you last saw her.

shitpost aside

A great day on Disney is getting your rides out of the way and wandering for meet and greets.

Does anyone remember when universal first started doing the fast passes? They only sold a finite amount and once they were sold that was it for the day, it was also unlimited. You could go on the ride as many times as you wanted. It was such a steal when we found it. Shame they changed it to the normal shit fast passes

is it just me or does it feel like the lines at universal any time i went were never really that bad.

the worst lines from what i can remember were Nickelodeon studios, Back to the future, & ET.

I can't speak for Florida, but if that's the case Universal lines in general must be pretty great. I went to Hollywood a few years ago and got about the whole park done in about a day.

Mummy is unironically in like the top 5 rides at Uni Orlando because it's an actual dark ride instead of just a gutted section of the studio tour with 3D screens.

>Mummy is unironically in like the top 5 rides
What metric are you going by?
Don't get me wrong, I love the Mummy for the same reasons you do, but last time I went there I was able to ride it 3 times in a row without waiting.

I had 2 stuffed figment dragon plushies as a kid

Lucky
>TFW been to Epcot at least 3 times but never made it on JiI

>It's ripe for both merch and food potential.
The theme parks have had KH merch before but it was just limited to a now-retired cloaked Mickey pin and some LE pins, but I can see others working. The food bit is also something I agree with, I remember seeing some KH-inspired alcoholic drinks at the KH Orchestra tour.
Well shit... I already bought a box. If they're not as good as the ones in the park then it's probably Disney being cheap and using a light ice cream or something.

a general in Yea Forums? I thought that was banned

I mean you can walk onto a lot of amazing rides without waiting. Star Tours is DEAD after the sun goes down at Hollywood Studios because Fantasmic/whatever Frozen singalong they happen to be doing, doesn't mean it's a bad ride. Same with Jurassic Park, I literally had a boat to myself the last time I was on it.

Orlando Mummy is also kinda tucked away in the back of the park; the only stuff that's near it is an arcade and the Blues Brothers show, so it doesn't see a ton of foot traffic.

As a ride, it's exactly everything Orlando should strive to do with their parks
>No/minimal screens
>Lots of animatronics and special effects that are actually really solid
>actually thrilling, but fun for the whole family
>a little edgier than what Disney would allow
>inventive approach to themeing/plot
>uses one of Universal's classic IPs effectively, is more or less timeless in terms of looks
I'm glad it didn't get revamped into the Tom Cruise Mummy.

And suddenly I'm reminded of the attempt to bring Sora into the parks as a mask character.

act like you belong. also places like river country are in the middle of the woods, not much actually stopping people.

>wait 4 hours

>MCU Land in California
>Ant-Man Microbrewery
>Spider-Man reskin of Midway Mania
>Doctor Strange show from the cruise line
>an Avengers coaster
>Mission Breakout
>that's it

Honestly kinda disappointing desu. The Microbrewery is a cute idea bit you'd think they'd go for something more ambitious considering how they're approaching Galaxy's Edge (or even Pandora). I feel like the only thing that could even come close to touching the stuff at Islands of Adventure is the coaster, but it's Disney, so it'll probably be a """coaster""" in the same way Gringotts is, stopping every 15 seconds for a show scene and never once moving faster than 40 mph.

>no Bifrost coaster that feels like Space Mountain inside a velvet blacklight poster
>no Doctor Strange trackless dark ride ala Mystic Manor, only it's the Sanctum Sanctorum
>no Indy/Dinosaur style thrill ride where you accompany Cap on a pulpy spy adventure through a HYDRA facility
>no Spider-Man ride that uses that sling coaster design to simulate web-swinging
>no Wakanda hyper-loop that goes through the Vibranium mines
>no shwarma stand
>no food stall selling Asgardian ale or weird alien foods the Guardians found to sell on Earth
>no SHIELD "training facility" where you compete in themed carnival games for prizes

So what’s the next big Disney expansion post Star Wars land? Any chance they’ll actually build a new park because at this point wait times are gonna be a turbo bitch to deal with especially in Hollywood

This.

Galaxy's Edge and Toy Story Land are some of the best things to happen to Hollywood Studios.

After the studio tour went to shit and closed down, there was a dark period where the entire park had like 5 worthwhile rides total and large spans of just NOTHING.
The Sunset Boulevard and Echo Lake areas have always been kino, but remember Streets of America? And how that entire third of the park was just... nothing?

Literally the only bad thing about the changes coming to Hollywood Studios is that we lost Great Movie Ride and the animation pavilion. Everything else is a plus, ESPECIALLY since ToT and RnRC are keeping their themeing.

I do wish Iger was as willing to experiment with weird shit as Eisner was though. We'll never see something like Alien Encounter or Captain EO greenlit while he's in charge.

>Heartless Halloween Festival at various Disney parks.

How is there not a Traverse Town in TDL?

I see the long rumored Epcot world showcase expansion to occur. Get some new countries in there

>Anyone else play the Magic Kingdom mobile game?
I used to, but I quit about two years ago. I'm a little surprised to see it's still going, I know how fickle Disney can be with their games, even mobile ones. It was fun, and I had enough premium currency just by doing free stuff to buy my favorite diamonds-only character after a few months, but I didn't get much joy out of personalizing my theme park which I think was supposed to be a lot of the appeal. Most of the dialogue for unlocking characters you don't care about usually wasn't worth it either.

He's just playing it very safe. People like nostalgia, people like existing IP.

Really it was Harry Potter that changed the theme park business. It's not enough for rides, you need an immersive experience, hence Galaxy's Edge.

I won't pretend I'm not hyped as fuck to explore an immersive Star Wars land, but he seems very hesitant to greenlight anything not based off of a proven profitable property.

I hope once Star Wars and the MCU areas are over and done with, he just lets the Imagineers go wild with the Society of Explorers and Adventurers stuff.

I've been hearing very weird things about that horrifying costume, the most notable being that it wasn't actually made by Disney due to Sora not being in their meet-and-greet character database while KH-designed Disney characters (Donald, Goofy, and Mickey) are.
>yeah you'd think Disney would do more with Kingdom Hearts in the parks considering they own all the OC's in that franchise.
Shinji Hashimoto actually mentioned wanting to discuss the issue with Disney last June.
Space issues would be my guess, the same can be said for DL.

Attached: Sora_DLP.jpg (640x427, 86K)

Say what you will about Eisner but the fact he at least took the time to roll with the cheesy tv specials and other weird videos related to the parks proves he was the last bastion of soul for the company. Granted he probably hated doing them, but he still took it like a champ. Iger's too busy voring the entertainment industry to give a shit and Disney's remained soulless (Yet mostly profitable) ever since.

Attached: 1538582732287.jpg (750x778, 38K)

They'll never commit to more than just a land, mark my words. Imagine the themeing. You can have cast members be dour at ToT or Haunted Mansion, but an entire park?

I feel like the best compromise is to pull a Beastly Kingdom. Good guys on one side, bad guys on the other. This way you can still satisfy all the villains fans while still having parades where Mickey Mouse is the star and Elsa merch is available in most of the gift shops.

The biggest problem with a Villains park isn't that the audience isn't there, it's that Disney would be building an entire fifth gate meant to cater to all ages that is themed exclusively around side-characters in all their famous media, and that wouldn't fly.
>"Sorry kid, you can't meet Rapunzel or Buzz Lightyear at this park, but lucky you, Frollo is gonna be signing autographs in front of Madame Mim's Merry-Go-Round in 10 minutes!"

>"Sorry kid, you can't meet Rapunzel or Buzz Lightyear at this park, but lucky you, Frollo is gonna be signing autographs in front of Madame Mim's Merry-Go-Round in 10 minutes!"
That sounds based though.
I wasn't really thinking a whole park, moreso a prominent new area of an existing park. That compromise makes enoughs sense.

You'll be there during Flower and Garden then, right? These days FaG lel has become Food and Wine's little brother, special food and drinks are offered during all of the festivals around Epcot. Check that out if you haven't, if you're not on a meal plan and you eat well either at lunch or at dinner (like at a place you have reservations at), a snack at Epcot can hold you over and taste better. It can be fun just to walk around tasting/drinking stuff from the booths while peaking into all of the shops around the World Showcase and seeing the topiaries.

Off the top of my head, the biggest potentially easy-to-get-on-to-but-fuckin-great attractions are Pirates at MK, Star Tours at Studios, and Dinosaur at AK. Pirates can get busy because of its legacy, but for at least several hours everyday it is a walk-on attraction, usually at night. It's out of the way from other classics, and doesn't constantly draw crowds. Star Tours is similar, sometimes the fastpass line is longer than the standby line. Dinosaur is usually empty, so you don't need to wait until the kids go to bed to go on it. While you're in Animal Kingdom though, check out the "zoo" walkthroughs if you have the time in Africa and Asia, if the live animal part of AK is something that interests you. Definitely worth it.

Villain Land meet and greets would be hilarious. They'd all just be variations of
>ey fuck you kid scram
>i kid take, the picture

The Wonders of Life pavilion is almost never locked. It’s very easy to get into the Cranium Command theater

This sounds so fucking lame. I had no idea they’re literally fucking up an idea for an innovative spider man coaster by just making it one of those dumbass buzz ligtyear shooter rides

I wished they had worked out the kinks with Villains Unleashed and brought that back. If they spread it over multiple weekends, like the month of September, overcrowding wouldn’t have been an issue. Being able to run around Studios and run into random villains was a potentially perfect event.

I feel like their banking on California-exclusive parkgoers to not know any better and not expect more from a Spider-Man theme park attraction. If Disney was allowed to build that in Florida, I'm sure they'd get a ton of flack.

Do they sell any merch based on old attractions in the park? My Maelstrom hat's colors ate faded out.

There’s a GMR shirt still around, and I think they had a Mr Toad shirt to go along with the retro shirt release but I haven’t seen Maelstrom merch since it closed.

>Do they sell any merch based on old attractions in the park?
No. When they close a ride down they pretend it never existed.

Not true every time they close something there selling shirts on Disney's site for it

Occasionally, often during anniversaries. You have to dig for it though

I get that. I got it expecting a Roller Coaster Tycoon type thing. For what it is it’s fun, a bit challenging at times. But that’s how freemium games are.

Increasing prices. That and the always long line on Jungle Cruise.

When I went to Hollywood Studios last time one of the pin places still had the cloaked Mickey pin. I bought it partly due to knowing how rare it would become.

Based opinion user. I used to live in PA and my family would go to Hershey every year. Wild Mouse is fantastic but nothing beats the thrill of Lightning Racer for me.

Lightning Racer is underrated and PA and nearby is the best place for theme parks everyone who disagrees fight me

Not necessarily, for example the vinyls and pins they sell have a lot of references to old attractions

Between Hershey and my second favorite park anywhere, Knoebels, PA is kino.

Phoenix is literally perfection. I hate that I don't live near PA anymore, I'd love to go and ride Phoenix again sometime.

posted couple of threads before but I'm traveling to Disney World the first time with a friend of mine around November. We're staying for around a week, planning on staying at the cheapest resort and doing a park each day with extra days afterwards. Any other advice or recommendations? (Food Plan, Snacks, Rides)

Attached: kermit blank.png (468x417, 254K)

Imagine how often the poor employees would have to clean the seats if they put mummyfu in it.

Do all three mountains at Magic Kingdom if you can. Get some dole whip and take it inside the Enchanted Tiki Room to enjoy one of the very Walt-inspired attractions.

If Star Wars Land is open when you go, either: plan to show up to Studios at three hours before the park opens, if you want to go anywhere near it, or don't go to Studios during your trip

Besides that, I think the dining plan is worth it, especially for a week long stay, and, if you're there in early november, you'll be there for Food & Wine at Epcot.

Going to Disney in the next couple of months for my sister's Birthday. Will be eating at Victoria and Alberts while there. Nothing like a full course meal after walking around the parks all day.

Don't bother to stay in the low tier on site hotels. Disney doesn't offer any real incentives for staying on site, and the money you save by staying at a nicer place off site will more than pay for your parking. The value resorts suck anyway, they are horribly themed and full of screaming children and school groups buying bulk packages.

Attached: v & a caviar.jpg (550x412, 34K)

Why the fuck have they not had meet and greets with Yzma and Kronk yet?

Okay, for the FL people: the parks have to have some kind of countermeasure against parking in Disney Springs and just taking the buses, right? A hack that obvious couldn't actually work. Do they time parking or something?

They don't have buses that go directly from the parks to Disney Springs.

You can however, take a bus from Disney Springs to one of the hotels and then get on another bus to the park.

There straight up used to be a parking lot by the Boardwalk where you could park and walk to Epcot, take a boat to Studios, or a bus to the other two. I think they cracked down on it but I don't see why you can't hop a few busses to get free parking from elsewhere.

Have there been any updates on the Nintendo area at Universal?

Yiff in hell.

Only rumors, mostly involving the third park.
That the Mario Nintendo land is going to go in where Woody Wedpecker is now, but other Nintendo themed areas, exclusive to Orlando, are going in to the new park.

Villain Land would have to be the top of the list.
I feel like dedicating a new land for Star Wars would have been a great idea, maybe they can combine it and seamlessly blend it with Galaxy's Edge as like a "1/2 park"

There's too many goddamn people visiting there and they need something to do with all of them.

Doing an entire Star Wars park not focused on the sequels would be great and it would sell park hoppers like crazy.

Those are some impressive speakers, I hope they're not heavy.

You don't really have to stay on site for the hotels honestly. Although if you are you can book fast passes 60 days in advance. Of those fast passes the 'get them before they sell out' priority ones, if you absolutely want to get on one of the rides, are;

>Any Galaxy's edge ride if it opens by then (though with the crowds I don't even think it'd be worth trying to get into Hollywood studios)
>flight of passage
>Na'vi River journey (I honestly don't think it's worth it to waste a fastpass on this one, but semantics it's easier to get into than the above)

Others are somewhat easier to get even the day of in other parks while some rides don't even need fastpasses. Though I might be forgetting a few.

I don't know why people are saying not to bother with a resort hotel when imo the free transportation makes it more than worth it.

Check out Trader Sam's while you are there at the polenisian resort. It's the best bar in Florida and horribly slept on despite being full to the brim with the Disney magic that makes the parks so great

you still gotta pay to park

Not at the resorts you dont

What do they do with him? I know they have the whole "actors have a soundboard hidden on their blasters/ gloves" thing for dialog, but do they play him as more of a straight up villain in the parks compared to the movies?

She's cute either way.

I'm really sad my parents never took me to Disney World because my Mom doesn't like theme parks. I mean we've had plenty of other vacations all over the place. I've been to France, Germany, Hungary, Greece, The Caribbean and more. Pretty much EVERYBODY I know went to Disney as a kid though and I always never wanted to but never did. I'm 27 now so technically I could take myself but I feel like it wouldn't be the same magical experience as it would have been if I went as a kid. Plus I don't have kids of my own so can't use that as an excuse.

They'd probably structure it like they did Disney Infinity. Prequel Land, OT land, NT land.

My wife and I are almost thirty and we go all the time. It's our favorite vacation spot.

Youre an adult now, it's your own life. And it's definitely just as much fun now as it was when I was a kid, if not moreso since I can appreciate the sheer amount of craftsmanship on display.

You've been to more places in the world than most kids. Sounds like you had cool parents. Disney is cool, but going around the world is much cooler.

This feels a bit like what Universal would make

>paintball

Those are lawsuits waiting to happen. Disney PR shits itself whenever a fight breaks out in a park, why the FUCK would they encourage people running around shooting at each other?

is that a bad thing or a good thing
its not my concept also chill out man

Eh. I had Disney trips as a kid, but honestly? There's not a ton I remember about them. The ones I've had as an adult have been way more memorable.

Not necessarily a bad thing or a good thing?
It just feels a bit like what Universal is doing with Harry Potter where everything is meant to be like stepping into the world of the characters.

Disney park philosophy usually feels like it has a plot thread going on in the background. Galaxy's Edge is deliberately not a place from the movies so they can invent their own canon for it. It's also why they have a Cantina, but not one from the movies, so that it can be its own thing.

universal is right tho people want to go to the places they have seen in harry potter or star wars
not some place that just has things from it

Disney has always done tiem tested generic headcanon lands since day one back in 1955.

How does DL California compare to DL Paris? I know nothing beats Florida, but I wanna see if it's worth doing the one in LA.

The issue is that that can date stuff a lot more quickly.

Stuff like Fantasyland and, theoretically, Galaxy's Edge have a longer shelf life since they can keep updating it. It's not tied to any one movie, it's a theme.

I guarentee you that Hogwarts won't be at Universal past 2030.

California is pretty fun. It's definitely jam packed with stuff, so be prepared for that.

Paris is slowly beginning to turn around since Disney took full ownership again, but be aware that it's better, but not quite at the level of the American parks or Tokyo.

>M Force
Literally only good for its height and speed, barely any airtime

>Steve
Alright i'll give you that one

>Maverick
Another good one

>Magnum
An old Arrow that suffers heavily from the fact that Arrow didnt have the ability to precisely manufacture track, its bumpy and horrendous. But the most awful part is the steel hard lapbars that not only stop you from getting airtime, but when you do it slams you into the lapbars with such speed that it fucking bruises your thighs

>Then Valravn or Dragster
Valravn is fun, Dragster is overrated but a must ride if you go there your first time. Unironically they could tear down dragster and put something worth while in that spot, same with Wicked Twister

>106020578
buts not a hodgepodge of different stuff ge is all star wars
95 percent of rides that both parks have are better in cali
>doesnt like magnum or wicked twister
plebian
also twister takes up like no space what would you even put there?

Thanks for the advice. I did Paris maaaany years back and loved it. Sounds like Cali is better overall.

100% would take you on that bet. They'll never tear it down, It's too important for the industry. Especially not within twenty years. Harry Potter won't die, it's too much of a familiar modern myth.

Fantastic Beasts bombed, though. Harry Potter is already starting to fall.

Hogwarts isn't just "place from the movie" though. In-universe it's an ancient school that EVERY wizard in the UK goes to.

If they made an entire land based on the Triwizard Tournament, for example, THAT would date things.

Galaxy's Edge already has rides that tie into the canon of the movies (unless Kylo doesn't die or get redeemed), so it's already technically taking place during a specific point in time during the new films. You could totally just make Tatooine, set it during the GCW, and have a big immersive experience.

A single movie is not the same as a franchise. Movies are not, and never have been the primary sorce of income for that series, merely a form of advertising the tshirts, novels, and toys. Potter isn't in the sell a single product business. It's in the lifetime loyalty business.

>He thinks Universal is gonna gut all of their HP stuff in the next decade
>when they're still pumping out movies
>when lines for Gringotts are still minimum 90 mins in the off season
>when they're currently building the biggest, most expensive coaster they've ever made in Hogsmede
>when the big rumor is that the new park will have either the Ministry of Magic or a Fantastic Beasts area
I will 100% take that bet, are you joking? Splash Mountain has been around as long as the fucking Simpsons and is still themed after Song of the South, Harry Potter is ABSOLUTELY a viable cash cow for the foreseeable future and beyond.

And then factor in how millennials who grew up with it are having kids and exposing them to it, ensuring another generation of fans. You hear about how Disney wanted to make another Midway Mania clone as the big Harry Potter e-ticket and condense the whole thing to the size of Critter Country and you start to realize just how insanely badly they fucked up when they let Universal snatch those theme park rights away from them. And they did a FANTASTIC job with it, totally changed the face of modern theme parks and how they're done. It's not going anywhere.

>And they did a FANTASTIC job with it, totally changed the face of modern theme parks and how they're done. It's not going anywhere.
I might actually raise this as a point the next time I see the "No!" pasta. It might be interesting to see how it evolves.

How new are you? Find a Harry Potter thread, or start one, and just wait.

Fair enough. Ten years might be too conservative an estimate. Maybe fifteen.

I do think Universal has a habit of chasing trends, but I do admit that HP was their best acquisition/adaptation yet.

So far. I think Nintendo has a real chance to dethrone it.

You're an autist if you think a kiddie land based on your favorite childhood games is going to be better than a wizard world with two coasters two dark rides and a train ride.

Mario and Donkey Kong Country areas are headed to the Unannounced Third Park in Florida. There's also a rumor that both the unannounced Zelda area in Islands of Adventure and Pokemon replacing Woody Woodpecker's Kidzone have been put on hold, because for some fucking stupid reason, they wanna see if the Mario area will make them bank in japan first. Spoilers: It will.

If Back To the Future: The Ride were still around, it would be less dated than KidZone. They need to get rid of that filth already.

I think they have a split merch deal with Nintendo, I'm not sure it is merley licensing. They want to make sure the merch will pay for the investment and then some, after a fat cut goes to Shogun Miyamoto.

epcot always gave me a sinister and totalitarian sorta vibe. California Adventure is much better.

My favorite ride is the Alice in Wonderland ride and the tea cups because that's basically the only thing keeping the animated movie alive at this point.

Agree that I think Nintendo could top it, but just look at what they've built man. Harry Potter is in every Universal park, plus Diagon Alley in Orlando, plus whatever they put in the new park.

They have literally no reason to close any of it anytime soon. They'll absolutely update it, maybe close a few rides, but you're ignoring the possibility of a full-on reboot of the movies in 15-20 years.

Harry Potter going out of fashion is like saying Lord of the Rings or Star Wars is going out of fashion. We've passed that years ago. It's not a fad or a trend, it just exists now. It's not like they built Twilight Land or Spiderwick Land or Series of Unfortunate Events Land.

Harry Potter is an institution in popular culture now.

Eisner was the beginning of the end of soul

I'm glad Spielberg is using his Hollywood Jew magic to keep ET Adventure open.

That ride will literally be around until he dies because Spielberg wills it, and that's awesome.

Everything else should be scrapped for Pokemon, complete with a magnet train ride to take you to a LARGER Pokemon area in the new park. I don't want my Pokemon theme park to just be a jungle gym and a kiddie coaster, anons. Not after seeing what Uni is capable of when they want to make an immersive theme park land.

I guess you're right. It's pretty silly of me to think HP will be dated soon and then the next breath say Star Wars will endure.

I hope the trend of keeping the rides and areas immersive and high quality carries over to the new parks. Part of me would even be willing to see Marvel go if they replaced it with something even higher quality

It's 90s kino, but the food is garbage.

Part of me wants them to completely overhaul the themeing of Superhero Island, but part of me loves the 90s time capsule aesthetic
>Banners in Kingpin's Arcade depicting Kang the Conquered and Red Skull
>DoomNet voice box that lets you "hack into superhero comms" and listen to events like Maximum Carnage and the return of Elektra happening elsewhere in the land
>all that Adam Kubert artwork with his name hidden on it
>The comic shop where the backstory is that Magneto stole a bunch of Marvel merch in order to convert the entertainment value into pure energy
>details like Yancy Street, Blaze & Merch Mechanics, and Donald Blake's office
>photo ops with Green Goblin and DOOOOOOOOM

You just know its aesthetic would be "not quite the MCU" if they gave it all a facelift, and that exaggerated anachronistic quality is like half the charm as far as I'm concerned.

The burgers are good enough for park food.

Only tangibly related, but the theory that Disney's perception of suburban culture circa the 90s-early 2000s was based on Celebration goes a long way in explaining its home movies and Disney Channel's shows produced during that era, and why a bunch of it had this sort of neo 50s-esque feel without deliberately attempting to ape the period.

I mean, we were in Hollywood. I don't think there was as big a risk for those compared to Florida. But if it's just a regular rainy day, why not go? Just bring a coat or jacket so you don't get miserable walking to and fro places or standing in an outdoor line. Otherwise Universal's a great rainy day park. That is, unless there's the few outdoor rides you're interested in.

I know the hype over the franchise has died down but a Transformers style Overwatch ride could work. The audience could be the cargo on the payload while you watch the heroes around you fight Talon. Then a climax could be the heroes losing ground as Talon takes the vehicle as it moves backwards ominously. Then maybe after a fatal looking hit from Doomfist, the ride blacks out and you hear "HEROES NEVER DIE" as Mercy rezzes your car of passengers (With her old ult because FUCK BLIZZARD) and you continue the ride and make it to the end safely. Then you could have meet and greets with the heroes.

>tfw neither Uni nor Disney has had the foresight to build an Asgardian tavern in their Marvel sections
>The story is that Volstagg traveled to Midgard with Thor and the Warriors Three on some adventure
>He found most earth food quite dismal and saw it as his duty to introduce us mortals to what food and drink could truly be
>get a craft brewery to make Asgardian Ale and Dwarven Stout the way they made Duff Beer in Springfield and Wizards Brew in Diagon Alley
>Lots of Nordic food with a fantasy/Marvel twist
>big fucking cartoony legs of mutton and flagons of mead
>it's decorated with trophies from Thor's various conquests
>character meet and greets where Thor and Loki show up; maybe train the Loki actors in close-up magic and prestidigitation so they can make mischief with the guests

I feel like shwarma is a Marvel food by this point, just because that gag in Avengers took off. Maybe a hot dog stand?
>King's Kosher Dogs
>Best on Yancy Street!
>gimmick is that this is where all the superheroes get their dogs
>like this is the hot dog stand Spider-Man tells all the Avengers about when they're discussing lunch
>speciality dogs based off of what the "regulars" like to order
>Human Torch is loaded with spicy chili, Wolverine comes with a side of poutine, Scarlet Witch is a veggie dog with paprika and a kind of spicy tomato/pepper relish

They could do a lot, considering all they've learned from making Hogsmede and Diagon Alley. I wonder if they're afraid to invest too much in Superhero Island in case the Disney deal suddenly changes.

No fucking way. They were supposed to do that cool Cap shield throwing thing they patented years ago.

>What is Georgia

>tfw European, so will probably only get to go to Disney World once in my lifetime.

Paris is nothing compared to what you guys get. I'm so fucking jealous.

This
No way is Sequel Trilogy Land not getting a remodeling in the next 10 years. They really fucked up by making it all ST oriented rather than having bits from OT, PT, ST.

Curse you user for making me dream this beautiful impossible dream.

I used to play Overwatch, but then the balancing went to complete shit and the lootbox scummery got really blatant.
>a lot of kids are complaining that the character meant to counter their main is countering their main, so to fix this we've needed that counter into utter irrelevance. Also please buy lootboxes.

TF2 is, was, and always will be the superior product. If you haven't given it a shot somehow, I'd recommend it.

>implying HP is less kiddie than Nintendo
>implying Nintendo has less to work with than HP
>implying Nintendo Land doesn't have the potential to have even more cool shit because it's based off of multiple franchises rather than one huge one

This is arguably one of the dumbest posts I've ever read on this board if not this site as a whole. Please stop posting.

wizarding world is theme park kino and the only thing i would take over a butter beer right now would be a dole whip

I love TF2 and its lore and world but the gameplay never clicked for me as well as early Overwatch did.

Well, Rise of the Resistance has like 20 minutes of preshow stuff where you board a shuttle craft and get taken prisoner and put in a holding cell before you get to the actual ride, so maybe all that cool shit will still show up in the preshow for the Avengers coaster?

Apparently the show building for that is BEYOND massive, so I wouldn't put it past them.

Where are you guys even getting all of this information about the Marvel stuff? Was something officially announced?

>he doesn’t have direct access to shareholder meetings and full blueprints and concept art
Never gonna make it

Thanks man

My uniformed guy, Nintendo land is just mushroom kingdom. And half the size of hogsmede.

I just recently got back from a family trip to Disney World and it seems to get less fun every time I go. The lines for rides are too damn long, and everything is so fucking expensive, you have to save for months to cover your expenses for a Disney trip ( depending on how much shopping you may do in the parks)

I think my wife and I mostly enjoyed Epcot for the world showcase and Disney Springs. I still turn back into a kid whenever I ride the Tower of Terror and ESPECIALLY The Haunted Mansion. The Haunted Mansion will never lose it’s charm for me ( though I am still annoyed they replaced the Hatbox Ghost in the attic with the Bride

>Disney springs
It's literally just a nice outdoor mall

Nope. With the exception of a few rides there was practically no line when I went during/after it rained there. Maybe it was different for other people.

My wife likes to buy Disney Pins and I like the stores that sell Disney art. I bought a couple canvases and art prints during the trip. My wife got a shitload of pins

it was jenny, and her video about him is a false flag

>RED Team walk around characters in groups of 2 or 3
>Pyro has the Pyroland lollipop
>Some poor dude cast as Medic has to haul the Medigun around all day
>SO many hats in the gift shop

... it hurts that we will never have this

Look how corny Warner Bros park is :

youtu.be/MRT3VBUcBNI

What a joke

It used to be fun to go to Disney Springs but it's lost it's magic. Just everything is getting trampled on by too many people. It takes from the pleasant nature of strolling. I really like The Edison, though. They pick pretty girls and the girls dress up.

We want it back

Wow! Yes

Marioland alone could make a better park than ever has been made if you get the right people.

Wow that looks dumb and stupid glad it shut down

With the crowds, it's getting ridiculous. You have to be a Master planner which isn't relaxing. They have lots of acreage to continue expansion. They did a good job with adding the little mermaid ride.

Right now, yeah, because for some retarded reason Universal thinks that Nintendo needs to "prove" themselves.

As soon as Mario stuff inevitably takes off? It's gonna be huge. At LEAST Pokemon and Zelda stuff.

This alone is reason to do universal:
youtu.be/4IzyzbaPing

Mario and Zelda appeals across generations. Pokemon is just for Zoomers.

>Pokemon is just for zoomers

Well I'm glad I'm getting the most retarded thing I'll see today out of the way early.

It wasn't directed at your comment, hoss.

Alright, so keep in mind my brother was dressed as Kylo for the day. So this will likely only be the dialogue you get if you're clearly "dark side" aligned. Instead of giving you the talk that you're on the wrong side now and they'll eventually convert you, Kylo says how he can feel that you are constantly putting up a facade of the light because you're afraid to let anyone see your true allegiances. He tells you that it's ok, and you should let it out. Then when you're ready, he will train you. I love the idea of Kylo actually trying to reach out to those "conflicted" between the dark and light and trying to slowly convince them from a position of sympathy.

I feel your pain user. I used to play OW all the time with my gf and eventually it just stopped being fun. So many times I've wanted to go back but I know it won't feel good if I do. Also sucked because I was hyped for the Overwatch Lego sets and now I don't even want them.

They have some sick art pieces but there so overpriced a decent sized print is like 40 bucks
Tf2 isn't relevant anymore but this would be dope
Are u srs bro it looks awesome
If I can't slam my glass down and demand another I'm not going

I usually go to Disney World every other year. Being the son of a disneyphile and working in an animation studio that hired up the lost boys after the 2D Eisner shutdown, we like to go down to Florida and see the new stuff on a cast member's pass. I'm looking forward to see how the gondolas are shaping up as park transportation, or go to Celebrations for Disney-but-not-Disney prices dining experience at D'Antonio's. Also would be nice to actually have a beer in the Magic Kingdom, last time we went to Be Our Guest but at lunch service so no booze.

Attached: Peter_Ammon_and_Anna_Clunes_20141105_1_(cropped).jpg (1386x2361, 1.8M)

The idea of drinking at MK still bugs me, even if it’s just at the restaurants. You can go to all of the other parks, plus the resorts if you really need a drink. I liked that MK was dry.

Info about the Marvel stuff came out back in Fall I think

They tend to drop bits and pieces that either confirm or deny the info people farm from patent leaks and construction photos.

They literally said the JP version is gonna be bigger and more immersive than WWoPH when they announced it.

>long-standing franchise that's still going today
>movies, tv shows, video games, toys
>built in locales people want to visit and food people want to eat
>Entire thing is built around messages of friendship, compassion, and conservation
Would've been a much better idea than Avatar

As a boozer, I disagree. I think it's only at sit-downs anyway, before that it was only in club 33 or more recently the dinner service at Be Our Guest. It's not like it's necessary, but the option to have a drink in park instead of at the Contemporary is nice.

>What if a six flags was built inside a shopping mall?

Can't wait for Super Nintendo World's opening.

That's actually fucking awesome
>"I know these faggots wanted you to buy a blue or green lightsaber, but clearly you're a man who takes no shit. Only gives it. You can roll with me anytime you feel like ditching these squares, Travis."

If immortality is discovered and we all live to be 1000+, than eventually stuff like this will happen.

I'd prefer this in TF2. The characters are just so likeable and funny compared to overwatch. The mercs make any capeshit look like garbage in comparison.

Attached: 1535176845645.png (730x621, 545K)

And true enough right after we went on Star Tours he built himself a red lightsaber. He got to fight Kylo during Jedi Training too, that show is legit by the way.

No one ever mentions it but, Frozen Singalong is legit one of the funniest shows on property, if you get the right royal historians, and is still really good, even if you don’t.

But what if I hate that movie and don't want to sing? If you consider it a show, this gal putting a performance on at the Rose and Crown is a gem. Nothing like grabbing a pint and having a pianey pub serenade.

Attached: pam brody.jpg (480x360, 19K)

What makes it funny? Is there improv involved?

I mean they don’t put a gun to your head, and force you to sing. The bits they do inbetween the songs are just funny, especially when they really start improving.
I do love that lady, though. Rose and Crown is a good pub.

To be fair, it's not like Game Freak is helping shake off that stigma

>though I am still annoyed they replaced the Hatbox Ghost in the attic with the Bride
The Hatbox Ghost only exists in the California version.

Disney Springs feels like an oversized outlet mall with a few Disney stores slapped on and they probably made it that way because they didn't want anybody leaving Disney property. Something about Downtown Disney just felt more fun even if it was dwindling in its later years.

I saw this in California Adventure and it was cringey as shit. Never again.

How do you do family friendly improv

Very carefully...but the older actors from before I started told me one guy said 'pussy' in a show and got fired for it.

Is there a reason you all sound exactly the same?

Mike & Roz are pre-recorded, the other actors have their own take on the characters but within a certain range. Marty is 6 years old and sincere, Buddy is a well meaning fool, Two Head are opposites.

What can I do to make sure I'm never ever that guy ever

>Implying the underlying conceit of Pokemon isn't that they're happy to fight alongside trainers that respect them and that weaponizing/exploiting them is bad
>Implying the villains in every game aren't people who try to treat Pokemon like weapons/things rather than as friends and companions
>Implying they didn't ignore Avatar's message about colonialism being wrong when the whole conceit of the park is "hey welcome to Pandora tourists, make sure to buy some sacred beads in the gift shop"

Those indoor Abu Dahbi parks are all about Six Flags level, just without the amazing rollercoasters
>attempts at characters and immersive themeing are super half added
>Lots of mannequins and statues, hardly any animatronics
>WB licenses
>tries to implement things like screens and 3D on a small budget and ends up looking super cheap
>really just built for locals

Inverse, how can I improve the odds of someone being That Guy?

Look as dull & as unfriendly as possible, sit either all the way in front or all the way in the back of the left side auditorium. It'll help you odds but you might still get pegged for captions or other bits.

being 'That Guy' is actually easy all ya got to do is sit there, other picks have to talk or make gestures.

Attached: 017.jpg (3024x3024, 3.07M)

Be a big goofy 'Dad' type, wear a Hawaiian shirt or something distinctive, show a lot of exuberance, sit on the right side of the house (facing the screens) close to the isle. Coming with a large group helps the odds as well.

I really want to go back. Epcot Mexico has that 3 Caballeros ride I really want to get on. Plus now that I'm 21 I can enjoy a whole lot more than when I was 8. I haven't gone since 2005. Had a fucking blast there.

The Hotel Translyvania ride is weird as fuck. Massive ride building, neat trackless vehicles. But it's a giant barely filled room filled with static statues.

The shrek ride tries something neat I suppose, telling the whole film as a puppet show.

Are 'audience participation' type cast members told to not pick people who clearly don't want to be part of it or are you given free reign?

>has had terrible experiences being picked on

The Disney transportation system is god tier. Would strongly recommend a Disney hotel for first time visitors because of it (especially if it's a group of people likely to want to split up).

Much much cheaper staying offsite though. Maingate is a good location for offsite and has some ultra budget hotels. literally 1 turn from Disney property.

Oh fuck Merlin. Loggers leap was a god tier log flume, that double drop gave you a shit ton of airtime.

Still remember going on is as a tiny kid and being in tears going up the lift hill.

>Phantom Fantasia burnt down because of that weird magical frog boat ride

It's not fair man, I actually liked that more than The Haunted Mansion, despite it being a lower budget ghost train.

Just stay at the All Star and watch Stacy on TV.

Anyone in the audience is fair game but a good performer is expected to be able to 'read' people and determine if they LOOK like they'll go along with it but yer always gonna get occasional assholes, whackos, dummies and the worst guest of all: the one who tries to be 'funny' but it kills the room.

How popular is the show? It's always seemed like it was meant as a quick filler to replace that 360 time travel show but it's stuck around for a long time.

The best part of magic kingdom is epcot
Wat

As a 6 year old The World Showcase must have just been a really long, boring walk.

I love HP too but you're an idiot if you don't think Nintendo Land has the potential to expand massively if it's successful which it probably will be.

I don't love Harry Potter at all I'm being factual. Check out the construction plans, obviously you have not. I don't care about your gay "expansions" that ""could"" happen.

I watched a recording of Fantasmic last night, since I've heard folks on Yea Forums talk about it being enjoyable. Honestly, it didn't seem remotely fun. Maybe being there in person makes a better impression, but it just seemed kind of weird and disjointed. Why the random bits of colonials from Pocahontas, of all things?

I wonder if anything can be done about the crowds. Raising prices doesn't seem to be making a difference. I guess it's just waiting out until the next recession hits at this point.

faggot, when wizarding world opened up there were two rides and most of the area is made up of gift shops. Size means shit. It doesn't matter that it's just mushroom kingdom right now. Mario is still a bigger franchise than HP at this point.

the disneyland fantasmic is the real kino the wdw barely compares

The Scooby Doo ride has a fun moment where they try to recreate the "running in and out of doors" sequence with an automated ride vehicle that and Scooby and Shaggy in it getting chased by a ghost, but that's about as far as innovation gets.

I wish more theme park rides would try experimenting with implementing fake ride vehicles to fool riders like that.

The Hotel Transylvania ride is like a trip to Costco, just with less Hasidic Jews.

But Nintendo Land is multitiered. There's an upstairs and a downstairs, so the actual constriction footprint means jack shit. They literally said "it's gonna be bigger and more immersive than the Wizarding World" when they announced it.

Hahaha hell no nigger. Maybe more... instantly recognizable but definitely not more culturally relevant. Then again, show someone a lightning bolt and two circles under it and they'll know what that is. Again, movies don't mean shit. Anyway enjoy your criter country sized "mushroom kingdom" and MARIO KART simulator

>batman zips right over your head
cool

I mean as a whole the Mario franchise has grossed billions more than HP at this point. It's culturally relevant because literally everyone knows Mario and it doesn't have the stigma from hardcore christians as being "witchcraft". He's the video game character literally everyone recognizes. Show someone a mushroom with little eyes and they'll know it's mario related. Really m8 your points are absolute ass. You could make the "nuh uh HP is more popular" argument for a lot of things in this world but at this point Mario is not one of them.

Attached: 1546223417096.png (356x338, 204K)

>HP more culturally relevant
>after the last movie flopped
>after Mario Odyssey broke critical and financial records

At least 10 times more tickets were sold to Fantasic Beasts 2 than copies of Odyssey where bought.

>DL Fantasmic
>standing room only, happens on the side of Tom Sawyer Island

>Mario, a character proven to be more recognizable than Bugs Bunny and Mickey fucking Mouse, is less relevant than Harry Potter
KEK

>The original Disneyland soft opening and press premiere were scheduled to begin Wednesday, April 29, 1992 and continue through the weekend. By late afternoon, rioting began in Los Angeles following the acquittal of the Los Angeles police officers involved in the Rodney King beating. Promotional materials with the catchphrase "Be Here When the Night Ignites" were quickly pulled from public circulation.
SOME IMAGINATION, HUH?

In fucking 1990.
I bet Harry would have beat Mario (and bugs and mickey) in 2003.

I don't understand why this is the hill you're choosing to die on. Just because people bought tickets to the thing doesn't mean that people enjoyed it. HP interest is still there right now but Rowling is doing the franchise no favors with a 5 movie prequel series that no one asked for while Mario is still incredibly popular and Nintendo is on a roll with the Switch. Unless the Mario movie is an atrocity I really don't see HP beating out Mario anytime soon.

Ehh I doubt it. Even during the Gamecube era the Mario franchise as a whole was still crazy popular.

Who would win in a fight: Harry Potter or Mario?

Whose theme park would you most want to go to?

It really comes down to merchandising. Mario's face is on more stuff than Harry Potter's is. He's a mascot, while Harry is a main character.

I get this is a meme but no one here is brainlet enough to think Disneyland had a soft opening in 1992 when the park has been around since the 50s

I wish I could go to Disneyland before I reach 40 but sadly am too poor to ever go. And even if I could afford it, I’d be too embarrassed or nervous to approach Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty is my favorite). At least I got to see Disneyworld one last time (parents paid for it because of nephew trip).

My favorite place was the Magic Kingdom and favorite ride is still the Briar Rabbit Log Ride

Why is it that no ride has topped Disneyland's Indiana Jones since its debut? Like, did people just stop trying?

I meant to say Disneyworld.

If they're super immersive Wizarding World level parks, absolutely Mario. A more cartoony world means a better suspension of disbelief.

Hogsmede is amazing but I'm still getting strapped into a ride vehicle that's supposed to be a bench in the detention room.

Please tell us about the absolute best and absolute worst experiences you've had during your time as a monster so far.

Is being a monster your only gig at WDW?

It's referring to the soft opening of Fantasmic in Disneyland

I have an AP and while it's always nice to chill and stroll and listen to outdoor music and play Ingress etc when the weather's nice, it's kind of gotten lame after about a half dozens visits

They close kind of early this time of year so it depends. If you wanna look at all the shows it'll probably take a whole day, but if it's just exhibits and a couple of rides maybe only half a day

Also they pretty much only have rollercoasters

tower of terror
>play ingress
no human has every done this

park in springs, stroll on over to that golf/horse resort, then take the bus from there lol

ToT is alright but as a whole I don't think the experience is better.

Indy was a big deal for Disneyland, the only rides that come close for me are Spider-Man and maybe Forbidden Journey. I suspect that the trend on downspending in the late 90s-2000s contributed to the no big new rides stateside. It wasn't until Harry Potter opened that Disney woke up.

>redo the Hulk coaster to make it better
>fuck it up by removing everything fun about the story
>Banner doesn’t even show up
Shit’s wack, bros.

is he right? their gonna tear down innovention and make it something new?

Yes. There's only one innoventions exhibit still open

Innoventions is kinda outdated and they don't really want to update it.

>Avatar
Avatar is one of the most boring fucking movies I've ever seen. It's just Pocahantas + the Lorax with Smurf people.

>That moment where a reporter asked a Disney exec to name five Avatar characters and they couldn't do it

Tippity toppity kek

There's the dark ride at the original Disneyland

I'm trying to remember the last time I was in Animal Kingdom.
Pretty sure Expedition Everest was in the process of being built.

Avatar Land was a mistake
>dated on opening
>dated before it was even conceived
>literally hinging on the 4 sequels to do well
>crazy long wait times
>the theming is only a 7/10
>the rides are okay
>we could've gotten Beastly Kingdom or the original Dinosaur area instead
it hurts

That tunnel for Ralph and Vanellope is based as fuck

It honestly feels like the higher ups at Disney Parks are Sony level incompetent. They'll go way over budget, cut out a cool concept, then refuse to ever implement a concept they at one time approved because there's no interest in it, despite them not giving people a reason to be interested in it.

We'll probably never get lost concepts like Discovery Bay or Fire Mountain or Beastly Kingdom because the higher ups are retarded.

>disney is buying up more land
inb4 it's more boring-ass resorts

What could Disney do for a fourth park? I feel like there aren't many ideas that wouldn't overlap with other parks and also hold on their own. A Villains park is neat but niche. They already have a IP park (Hollywood Studios) and a zoo (Animal Kingdom), and Epcot is slowly just becoming "IPs over the world".

>Tony Baxter is just gonna have to keep all his great ideas bottled up forever
F Western River Expedition
F Discovery Bay
F everything good in this world

The thing is, losing Harry Potter broke them.

They pitched JK Rowling a simple Toy Story Mania with wands attraction, and she told them fuck no and gave them her list of restrictions, like no meet n greets, no name brand sodas, narrow streets and alleyways, etc. And Disney went, "No, that's retarded, no one would ever put those concepts in a park, it would never work."

Then Universal swept in, agreed to all of them, and Harry Potter saved their parks and was heralded as the best thing to happen to the industry.

So Disney is fucking panicking now, because now Universal as something that people are going just to them to see. So this i where the executive level incompetence comes in, around this time Avatar becomes the highest grossing movie of all time and they snap up the rights as fast as they can, not realizing that it'll be a turkey.

They panicked, and if they had just waited a couple more years they could've gone all in on Marvel (except for Spidey, Avengers, FF, X-Men, etc.) or Star Wars.

Video games, but without Nintendo that would be a really fucking hard sale. Plus the fact that Nintendo exited that business, though I guess WIR could work as an Ur-mascot.

I mean, they're making the Marvel area in DCA, and they can't do anything in Florida anyways. But yeah, other than that, you're right.

They can do a few things, anything not represented in IoA, like Dr. Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc. It's not much, but it would've been a sight better than two rides, restaurant, and a quickservice anyway.

>two rides and a quickservice
thats how they make lands now lol

Honestly I love Disney but I'm so glad Nintendo and Harry Potter aren't in their hands. I can't see them doing it well, nor could I mentally accept either being tied to Disney. They're too much their own thing.

I agree. I think Universal snapping them up was a smart business move on their part too, since they have proven iconicness and longevity that some of their other stuff, like Transformers, didn't.

I mean it's predictable, yeah, but at the same time it's a decent way to test the waters before going all in on a crazy expansion.

It’s cheesy as all hell, like a theme park should be.

>no meet and greets
I do really wish they'd at least do character stuff like Hagrid or Snape. It honestly wouldn't be that difficult.

I'm not entirely sure why JK Rowling did that, aside from keeping a strict leash on canon and quashing any improv from the actors.

The soda thing I understand for immersion sake. There isn't really a chapter where Harry and Friends go into a crazy bullshit wizard tavern and order pepsi.

Anyone here go to parks alone? I recently did Disney Sea and USJ alone. I also did Tokyo Disneyland Christmas Eve, but met up with a Japanese friend. It was lonely, but I am glad I went anyway.
>tfw the random Japanese girl next to you on To the grabs your hand on the first drop.

Attached: IMG_20181228_204928846.jpg (4160x3120, 2.36M)

I tried going solo the last time I went with family, but the loneliness got to me fast. Desperately stuck with then after one or two rides.

I went to the parks alone a few times when I did the college program in Florida.

I honestly loved it. I know it's different when you are a cast member but I found it very relaxing to just do whatever the fuck you want

>never been to a theme park other than Carowinds
>never been to Universal or Disneyland/World
>likely never will because they're all unaffordable
>old enough where going by myself would probably be seen as super creepy or weird
>don't even have my own car or license so the trip couldn't even be done anyway

I don't even care about the rides, I just want to explore around and see everything at my own pace.

Universal and Disney aren't weird to go alone. Tons of people do it.

How much would I even budget for either park for a full week? $5000? $8000?

Several times. Funny enough, I went the times they reopened Submarine Voyage and Star Tours (probably because I'm a masochist), and had a blast each and every time. God help me, I'm planning to do the same when Galaxy's Edge opens, mostly to take in all the interactive stuff I doubt I'd be able to enjoy when I come back with other people.

Four days at Disney is 356 off season and 380 peak.

disneyworld.disney.go.com/admission/tickets/

What I would give to stay in the Contemporary...or the Polynesian. But the cheap ones like Pop century aren't worth it.

Yeah but what about hotel costs and general costs of food and dining in the parks?

Hey Pop Century is the shit
That's where I stay when I go. We could do the luxury ones but why when you're going to be out the entire time anyway? At that point the hotel is the vacation itself

If you're a local, they offer deals. Otherwise, I'd be too poor.

I've never been to whatever park sells this, but I had it at the Dole Plantation in Hawaii. I'd get half a gallon at a time if they allowed it, that stuff is delicious

They should have done a Narnia ride.

I'm so jealous rn

Used to be exclusive to Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, and the Dole Plantation, but apparently they've been expanding outward. Some places have other flavors to boot.

Time to talk about Legoland
>respectful of FL history
>beautiful garden, used to be Cypress Gardens

It's honestly one of my favorite places.

One time I went to HS alone on a whim and rode ToT five times straight because there was practically no line. The best part about going alone is doing shit like that, but otherwise it's not as fun without friends or family.

Attached: 434f30b2e0f6240e08ff6122425dbae0.jpg (960x719, 153K)

It's crazy. I can't stand to go alone. Something about having someone with you, even if they're acting like a little bitch, makes it magical.

I’ll say that flight of the Navi was Kino wasn’t worth the line but I’d be lying if I didn’t enjoy it the immersions was next level and technically amazing

Ok I will say the Flight ride was really technologically impressive. The "breathing" of the beasts was fucking cool

But still, Avatar is the lamest possible expansion ever

If you stay in one of the Disney-owned budget hotels (and let's be real, you probably want to and they are still nice) you can probably get around $150 a night. Generic non-Disney hotels you can get for $50 to $100 if that's a concern. If you eat on-site you can either pay as you go (probably the best), do a meal plan or just do food outside the park at times if you please
If you're going yourself and are smart about planning it you can make it work

How realistic would $800 be for getting a week pass, finding a cheap hotel nearby, being able to sample different on-park vendors, and maybe buy a souvenir or two?

Is it worth checking out as an adult who doesn't care much about Legos? The new one is opening very close to me

I'm going to Kidani Village Animal Kingdom Lodge in May.

What did I think of it

imagine, etc..
am I cool yet?

Don't know how many days you'd plan but that's definitely possible if you're smart about it and plan it out. I like to think $1000 is a nice number but you can do under that too
Don't let concerns that you can't do it prevent you from going because you can

It's just like that commercial. You know the one.

It's that bittersweet feeling of "I'm having the time of my life and have no one to share it with".

I'm trying to accept that I'm probably gonna be forever alone, put on an edgy face and pretend being single doesn't bother me, but coming to terms with the reality that I'll probably never get to take the wife and kids to Disney World the way my dad did is one of the hardest parts of that.

I know that feel. I can’t have kids for many reasons, and I had dreamed of taking a future daughter to Disneyland to watch her eyes light up.

how's Hershey park?

Pretty fun, actually. Theming’s obviously not as good as Didney or US, but the rides are great and it’s a good excuse to binge on candy.

Honestly when I went it kind of underwhelmed me compared to Legoland CA.

Uh yeah

You could adopt/foster, provided you aren’t a complete degenerate.

Epcot's under construction right now?

Yeah, they're renovating/adding a ton of stuff.

insideuniversal.net/2019/02/hagrids-magical-creatures-motorbike-adventure-will-open-on-june-13-at-islands-of-adventure/

Finally a release for the Hagrid coaster

>Motobike Adventure
Could it be like the Tron bike one?

Actually looks promising. Incredible that they're not only doing a bike themed coaster but getting it out before Disney does. Disney really needs a management shakeup.

They just announced that Wonders of Life is becoming a vaguely "Ralph Breaks the Internet"-like "Play Pavilion" featuring a grab bag of IP characters.

disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2019/02/first-of-its-kind-play-pavilion-new-park-entrance-part-of-epcots-historic-transformation/

Also, they're restoring the Epcot Entry Plaza and moving the Leave a Legacy pictures outside the park.

“This innovative, new pavilion is beyond anything we’ve ever created and is completely unique to Epcot,” said Zach Riddley, portfolio executive, Walt Disney Imagineering. “Built on the power of play, it introduces an immersive and interactive ‘city’ where you can explore, create, and interact with some of your favorite Disney characters. This is an experience worthy of our bold vision for Epcot – and another signature element of our transformation.”
>interactive ‘city’

Attached: epp.jpg (1000x904, 119K)

Amazing how all their "renovations" for the 50th just take them farther and farther away from the original intent. Literally all they had to do was announce a reopening of the classic Journey Into Imagination.

I guess that's better than having the building almost totally vacant like they have been

Well dang, I'm potentially going next month. Hope there's still plenty to do.

Wonder what kind of interactive city

It's not a "true" motorbike coaster, just looks like one. Traditional sit down and lap bars. But I'll tell you what it's going to blow Tron out of the water.

>tfw no more Disney Quest
The Pirates of the Carribean ride could've been an attraction on their own. They beat the shit out of the Buzz Blaster and other on-rails shooting rides. I would have a three man crew and we would always absolutely dominate, with the captain also being a gunner while the gunners manned multiple cannons. Sacked forts, sank tonnage, and killed the seamonster. Always got Masters of the Carribean.

Attached: serveimage.jpg (1800x1360, 223K)

Y-you take that back.
At this point I'm desperate for anything Tron

There is. The new city is going into a spot that was empty already and the rest of the construction is all new shit.

I think the only thing that might be closed is spaceship earth

I would love for them to port the Disney Quest rides to VR.

I unironically love Jenny. Her content is so humorous and feels so down to earth and wholesome. I only got to spend about an hour at Pandora late at night because of a special event and nothing was open besides the rides, so I was glad to see her cover of it.

Attached: jenny.png (1277x671, 1.22M)

>No Flynn's arcade in Downtown Disney
Serious missed opportunity

Me too. Electronica was so fucking cool. Then they got rid of it for some retarded Alice in wonderland thing when they could've just upgraded the experience. Still mad. They'll bring the franchise back someday, when new management comes in and the prophet Eisner returns.

Shanghai's Tron coaster gets a fair amount of flack for being too short and the Magic Kingdom version is apparently a direct port.

Anyone else wishing they win a lottery so they can just dump it into getting a theme park attraction you want?

>enclosed vehicles with no AC. These will be fun in the middle of summer...

That's a terrible name and you will endlessly have annoying book people pointing out it wasn't Hagrid's bike.

Whose bike was it?

His brother owned a bike shop and he inherited a lot of stock after his brothers untimely passing. It's not hard to pull stuff out of your ass.

Sirius'

Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure.
The magical creatures are Hagrid's, the motorbike is just in use by him.

I don't even care so much about how good or bad the coaster is as just getting to sit on a lightcycle will make the experience for me. What I'm really excited for is all the Tron related shirts and pins that will come out as a result.

I think they're going to be vented, thus allowing a breeze through as they go through the air.

Not wrong, and also you know they're going to have a Flynns arcade gift shop at the end. That's worth a mediocre coaster.

Jenny is cool, dude. She's clearly passionate about the weird stuff she likes. Her video on that paranormal ghost inspector whatever show was funny as fuck.

If they do a Flynn's arcade with an actual playable Tron arcade machine I'll be beyond happy

The tron coaster does have bike seats it's the hp one that wont

Once again you go to Disney for the theming not that the coasters are the most thrilling

Concept art looks cool and it's better than an empty building I guess. Glad LaL is leaving, greenery would look much better there.

or you go to Disney for the story. And Tron falls short on that.

Disney needs more thrill attractions.

Is it dead?

Attached: Super Nintendo world.jpg (655x368, 100K)

It's still being built

On track to open summer next year.

That's cool but Epcot is actually unironically becoming "IP-cot". It's not just a meme anymore

Hey you gotta dump em somewhere.

I wish world showcase would get updated. They need more countries.

>UK theme parks have complete shit this year

Feels real bad.

Thorpe park are teasing something with an Infinity symbol. Hope it's not a Gerstlauer Infinity. The Eurofighter they've got is enough.

Disney just released concept art for a retheming of the entrance plaza of Epcot.
No more giant tombstones.

Attached: ec-plaza-plans.jpg (640x463, 403K)

Why doesn't Disney make more dark rides? Bambi and The Jungle Book lack real representation at the parks and dark rides would work perfectly for them. Traditional dark ride for Bambi and a water flume dark ride for The Jungle Book.

Yeah but people paid to have their names on them, so how will that work for them?

WOW

They will probably take the plates containing the images off, and mount them on some walls in the back of the park.
They paid to have theirs images displayed for 20 years, not to have them displayed in that location.

Yes, I'd stay at the Polynesian for a month.

They charged too much for what was essentially a glorified arcade. It will truly be missed, though.

Next time on /tpg/
How does the Chad Figment keep getting away with it?

I love it desu

Imagineers know people want the original ride back, and they're waiting for Iger to eat it so they can restore the ride to it's former glory

The fart part of the ride is the worse. Bring back the old ride. It was better.

Horizons has been gone for a long long time

T H I S

They've been wanting to do a re-imagining of the original since at least 2006, but it keeps getting sidelined by IP projects.

This
This is based

I don't understand all the whining about Star Wars. I love all things Star Wars.

Well, all the locations are different. For FL, it's definitely worth it if you have sons. I personally would enjoy it. The only problem is that people might look at you strangely if you have no kids. It's very oriented towards children while Disney accepts that adults want to enjoy themselves too. Taking a date should be fun. Just don't go alone if you don't like stares. The rides are good but they aren't Disney-tier.

I feel the issue is less about it being star wars in general, and more about it being focused entirely on a part of the franchise that has been deemed quite controversial (mostly because of how it's been handled). I mean, there are the comments about the franchise as a whole, which I could see being applied to almost anything, but to rub salt in the wound it's focused on something that managed to outdo the prequel era in terms of sloppy execution. Though reading the thread, some of the responses have been quite interesting in hindsight.

>Disney opts for original experience instead of just dumping them into scenes from the films
>Complaints are arising along the lines of 'wheres muh scenes from the films? what the fuck is this original shit?'

As far as Star Wars Land goes, it's mostly bitching about it going into Disneyland as people feel like the Single-IP land concepts don't really work in castle parks and that Galaxy's Edge is basically taking up the last major expansion plot remaining in the park and it only has two rides in it.

There rumored to be adding a lion king ride in ak

You can do Disney cheap(ish). You just gotta be smart. Off-site hotel, pack some food so you aren't paying Disney prices for every year, and be smart about souvenirs. Legitimately, I not buying anything until your last day. Make lists of what you want and, importantly, where you found it. There are lots of random things you'll only find in one or two locations. But that way, at the end of your trip, you can go pick up the ones you want the most based on your budget.

The good thing, too, is if you plan enough in advance, you can sorta pay for things in sets rather than all at once. Get your tickets, book flight or whatever later, hotel will probably be paid after the stay if it's off-site. Granted, you have to be smart with your money and make sure you have enough to afford it all instead of losing it halfway through paying for the trip, but it can help. Good luck.

What happens if they get stuck?

On one hand, this is great because I'll be at Universal literally the following week. On the other, that's going to cause awful crowds, isn't it? I've only got a day there and never been to HP world.

BY Disneyland standards, Star Wars Land is fucking huge. Definitely looks to be the biggest in walkable area, though if you include attractions space Tomorrowland or Fronteirland might beat it, by virtue of having a river and road network, respectively.

Attached: star wars land satellite construction.png (1438x910, 3.09M)

FL guy here. Unless you really want to ride the new coaster, you should be good. They have single rider for almost all their rides there, and the bulk are high capacity attractions.

Wow I'll never get to ride it again. It was my favorite. :'(

Which of them?, I only went to Billund, but there are now around 8 of them.

They're getting relocated
