episode 1 is pretty awkward but everything after was good, just don't expect any higher concepts behind it because the point of the show is that philosophy / spirituality kills this world and is bad. that helped me move forward in my life and is why I like it so much even though it's very sad. this anime presents a few confusing philosophical belief systems throughout only to show how stupid, dangerous and detached such belief systems are; needing such ideals to guide life and following those ideals through is shown to lead to evil and death in texhnolyze. people who want to see philosophical meaning in it (to either praise or criticize it) didnt see that this sort of "meaning" is the villain

Season 2 has none of the charm and mystery of season 1, the characters and interactions have been dumbed down to kindergarten levels, and there is no coherent plot. It was written by a different director who was spiteful of the success of Season 1's director, and did everything he could to ruin the series.

Steins;gate is the best anime. I've watched all of it, but I can't go through the emotional rollercoaster again. I went in having no idea what it was, and the first several episodes are weird and silly. Just friends in a lil apartment pretending to be mad scientists.. then it gets really fucking dark. then it gets super dark. Then it's just fucking brutal. I had zero respect or appreciation for anime as a storytelling medium before that.
also log horizon, though the newest season was really bad.
it has the same feel as a nintendo zelda esque world. but it also has characters who think and take things seriously at times. It's the best Isekai, though Overlord (minus the fucking lizard episodes) is high up there for me too.
