both are shit

self titled by far. its so good, ive listened to it a million times.

the real answer

both ARENT shit, and Im still not sure which is better

Mike Patton is the most overrated vocalist of our time. His fans are only second to Devin Townsend fans in how they will praise even the shittiest parts of their output.

self-titled for wacky fun shit
california for wacky fun shit with some cohesion thrown in

I like both what does that say about me

Honestly, I actually really like the music of both too. I just see fucking dipshits jack them both off all the time like they are the greatest creative forces on the planet.

Both have seemingly bought into their personas so hard that it is fucking insufferable to hear them speak. Fucking self important fart sniffing for guys that 90% of the populace has never heard of.

They're good, but they're not that good.

Reddit: the band

I agree.
I love Devin's work a whole lot, but some of his stuff is unlistenable or monotonous.
Patton gets hyped up too much, and fans ignore the contributions of the other members of his bands.

more like Yea Forums the band

That would be Anal Cunt

This is actually a solid take. Both of these dudes have talent, but they both surround themselves with complete fucking badasses. Puffy is actually a damn good, though not flashy, drummer. Townsend's worked with Gene fucking Hogland, and Dirk VanBuren. I only know the drummers' names off the top of my head because I'm a drummer, but the rest of the band adds a ton.

I just need to never hear another interview with either of these guys ever again, because both of them come off as insufferable twats.

>I just need to never hear another interview with either of these guys ever again, because both of them come off as insufferable twats.
Patton's always come across as a bit of a narcissist and it doesn't take a genius to notice Devin's messiah complex.
I hate how Bungle and FNM fans gloss over Trey Spruance and Trevor Dunn's contributions because Patton can sing.

Oh my god. Is this a totally non-retarded take? On Yea Forums? Am I having a fucking stroke?

Yeah, King for a Day is fucking great. Angel Dust too. I know they kicked Jim Martin out of the band, but guitar on Real Thing and Angel Dust is pretty solid. I like Roddy's keys too.

100% agree.
