Is Clutch the single best rock band still out there?
ALL THE WORLD WILL SUFFER THE WOOKIES WICKED CLUTCH
Yes. I saw em around the time Strange Cousins came out and it was fucking great. They have a lot of energy on stage.
baltimore to o hi o
Neil has a lot of energy, you mean. The rest of the band is pretty subdued in behavior (I've had more than one person mention along the lines of "how can they be good when the lead guitarist just stands there?") but they play so damn well and their material is so damn good that it more than makes up for it.
>people on Yea Forums like good music
Whoa, what?
ONE ZERO ZERO ZERO ONE ONE ONE ZERO ONE ZERO ONE
Yea Tim and Dan dont do much besides play Neil is really energetic and JP has a bit of energy to him, but he is a drummer though.
How do you guys like the newest album? I think its great and so many new videos came out of it. I was worried when Earth Rocker came out as its the only album of theirs I dont care for, but Psychic Warfare then this have blown me away like I havent been since Blast Tyrant.
Oh, it's not a bad thing in my eyes at all. Goes to show that music really doesn't need gimmicks, even in live performances, when four dudes who look like a King of the Hill spinoff get up on stage and rock your socks (or zip-off shorts, in Neil's case) clean off.
Man, I heard that song eons ago when I hadn't discovered Clutch yet and for YEARS I had the number 10001110101 going through my head at the most inopportune times and could never figure out where the fuck it came from but never thought to google it. Years later I bought Robot Hive/Exodus and holy shit, there it was, and I have no idea where I even heard it in the first place because I'm pretty sure it was in the car but I only had an AM/FM deck and I'm very, very sure my local dadrock station wasn't playing it.
I like it a lot, but the production has definitely suffered compared to the previous few. I know they were going for a more 'live' feeling and it works on some of the songs, but regardless of how you feel about Earth Rocker and Psychic Warfare, you have to admit they're clean as fuck and mixed excellently. The videos are a fucking riot, too, the three released so far being a perfect representation of the band as a whole- one that's a parody presidential song that goes way deeper by based on a half-century old jazz song, one that's a sequel to a previous song duo invoking everything from Greek myths to cheesy sci-fi references, and one that's a recipe for crab cakes.
Yeah Earth Rocker is mixed well and sounds good I just couldnt get into it like the other although I will say Gone Cold is fucking hauntingly good, but for me I love Clutch the most when they evoke the crazy side of the world like on the self titled album. Thats why Psychic Warfare got me so good. I consider it self titled pt. 2 basically what with all the talk of conspiricy and alien technology.
I can't get into any Clutch song that isn't about shamans or wizards or prophetic hobos or men in black and shit.
That's fair. Some parts of Earth Rocker are definite drags but I'm personally in love with The Face (ONE THOUSAND LES PAULS) and Oh Isabella. Psychic Warfare is fantastic all the way through and I don't know how people can not like it at minimum, they must be broken or something.
Sounds like you're a Self Titled kind of guy.
Got a favorite album? Id have to say for me its either self titled or Jam Room. Although I have been getting really into Pitchfork lately. Love the raw heaviness of it.
Either PW or Robot Hive. I'm a weirdo, I know. Honestly there's enough great songs on every album that I change up what I'd consider my favorite every once in a while anyway.
Hey nothing wrong with that. I'll admit it took me a little while to get into Robot Hive, but the more I listened the more it grew on me. I love the imagry in Land of Pleasant Living and Gravel Road is a blues rock dream.
The imagery is great and that aside, any album that includes the phrase, "Silver women on the Omni magazine" is legally required to be in my top-whatever list.
Nice, knowing Neil I should have known that was and actual magazine. Thats probably my favorite thing about them. Take any line from any song and theres always some kind of substance there. Theres almost never any filler lines. I knew a dude that dropped acid and listened to all their albums at that point, was in 99 so Pure Rock Fury I believe was the latest, and he was convinced for a very long time Neil was an actual prophet. I suppose if anyone in the biz was it'd have to be him lol
Have you watched the making of Psychic Warfare videos where he talks about some of the songs' history and meanings? I think there's a few for the other albums as well, they're an excellent look into the lyrical mind of a laconic master. Definitely elevated a few songs higher for me.

I know Ive seen at least 1 or 2 of them. Guess I'll have to look through the channel and check the rest of them out.
the one for Sucker for the Witch is hilarious.
These just make me wish there were one for every song now. Love to see one for Guild of Mute Assassins.
Dude Yea Forums likes Clutch. This is a genuine surprise and I'm stoked on it.
I used to have all their stuff on CD, but I lost it over the years. I still have their single for "The Yeti" on tape cassette.
>all he wanted was a big tiddy goth gf
Truly /ourband/.
Nah, I think it's just the six or seven of us. Sorry.
Yeah theres a few on Yea Forums this is the farthest Ive ever seen a Clutch thread go and it makes me pretty happy. Every thread Ive ever made never got more than 2 replies, also thats awesome Id love to see it if you have a pic. Ive only ever had the albums.
You guys should check out Neil's side project The Company Band if you havent some great stuff there. Its like the lost Clutch albums.

Also Dunsmuir and The Bakerton Group
Oh holy shit I didnt know about Dunsmuir. Thanks user!
>get to crackerjack in track listing
>pretend im playing the trumpet in my head
Am I the only one that objects to the genre classification of "Stoner Rock"? I get it, the lyrics are weird, disjointed astral projection experiences at times, but you don't get that kind of energy being doped up.
Clutch has never been stoner rock.
they get lumped in with it a lot though. I dont really have a genre I refer to them as. Listening to Speedway then Jam Room then Blast Tyrant, theyre all very different.
The author looms above his page and thinks it's strange that at his age he cannot find the proper words to describe his only world. One would think that in a life where no two snowflakes are alike one would have a brilliant rhyme for each and every bit of time.
> I dont really have a genre I refer to them as.
They toured with Motorhead at some point, didn't they? Follow what Lemmy said of his own band and just call it rock and roll.
