So... is it good?
So... is it good?
no, the alternate leak version sounds pretty cool though
no
Yup
6-7/10.
High as a kite and I'm just being honest are great.
Byzantine,Can't knock the hustle, and zombie bastards are good.
First half of too many thoughts is good, second half is ass.
Piece of cake and California snow are boring.
Living in L.A. and the prince are absolute dogshit
It's growing on me. It's their best pop album so far, but if you're just listening for their classic sound you'll hate it.
>classic sound
pre or post pinkerton?
accurate
id switch all the great and good songs around, move california snow to shit tier and prince to boring tier
It's very safe. I hate safe weezer.
I liked it better when he talked about half japanese girls in a borderline "incorrect" manner.
how is this in any way safe, its a complete departure from anything theyve done
safe is shit like pacific daydream and green where they dont do anything new
High as a Kite is actually nice at the start, almost sounds flaming lips/beatles.
>how is this in any way safe
Nothing jumps out and it sound boring.
If they were to do something less safe they'd:
1. either do something provocative
2. add weird psychedelic sonic landscapes.
It doesn't sound too different from stuff they've been doing since pinkerton.
I like all of the songs expect Prince, fuck that song.
It's 7/10, or even 8/10, I know I'm in the minority on this ,I guess I have a shit taste, I'm okay with that
>Nothing jumps out and it sound boring
cant knock the hustle, zombie bastards, byzantine. yeah these totally sound like theyd come off of any other weezer release
>2. add weird psychedelic sonic landscapes
are you baiting or 15
>cant knock the hustle, zombie bastards, byzantine. yeah these totally sound like theyd come off of any other weezer release
pretty much, only with a piano and less guitar.
Lyrics are really down the gurgler since Pinkerton too. It's like he's afraid of proper surrealism now.
Yeah, the lyrics are really bad, but I like pretty mch everything else.
I feel like they really did something cool with most of these tracks thogh, even if the lyrics are lacking, but I don't care about lyrics that much.
I don't think this a good album at all. I just want him to let out his frustration like he used to do. He holds it back.
I dunno if there is any frustration at all anymore. Maybe he'll do it in th next two records
Maybe, but I found the instrumentation here really cool and kind of dark sounding, I appreciate that.
>I dunno if there is any frustration at all anymore
No human on the planet lives without frustration. People that consider themselves enlightened are just escaping to their fantasy land.
That's why I don't like this, he sounds like he's just being a bitch to other people's feelings about him. Stop taking that crap and say what you want.
That's what made Pinkerton great. It made it sound so genuine and human.
Now it sounds like chrome tiles and bleached underwear.
Weezer are only capable of making good songs with the word "High" in them now.
This is why black album is good, majority of it seems to be about drugs or getting high.
Yes it is.
This is the most mixed release since Red.
So they must have done something right, it isn't the outright hate Pacific Daydream/Raditude/Hurley have received.
you got red and hurley mixed up there fren
>So they must have done something right
People that liked Pinkerton would hate this yes.
Because it's pretentious euphoric garbage.
So unless this is a subtle "fuck you" to people, it makes no sense.
Why couldn't he at least do something odd melodically?
Some of his better work (let's say - Pink Triangle) use weird melodies that remind me of celtic singing. The melodies in Black are boring and lack that soul.
EWBAITE/White really threw me for a loop. I feel like Rivers literally decided to write 2 genuinely good albums just to make it hurt more when he puts out shit. They seemed so effortless too. Like 'hey guys, I could totally do this if I gave a shit'. Goddamn.
I think the use of guitars is really interesting here, especially in I'm Just Being Honest, if nothing else, it is still a fun melodic album, Rivers for the longest of time told us this would sound nothing like Pinkerton, so expecting something like that is silly.
The use of piano, and other instrumentals, I've just found it interesting, creating a different atmosphere
High as a kite and I'm just being honest are great and redeemed the bullshit like prince, I also like Too many thoughts in my head
Maybe he is trying to channel it for pinkerton 2 and retire immediately afterwards
Here we go, i thought this thread would be spared
Too Many Thoughts In My Head is also one of the better tracks if you like "Honest" I don't see how you can hate that song.
