About to play this on PS5.
What am I in for?
All I know is that there's some stealth elements and 4 or 5 combat stances

Bump I'm interested
it's shit
t. never played
It's fucking kino, unironically. Quite a moviegame at times but a very satisfying cheesy fall-from-grace and later-redeem-yourself samurai/ronin kino. And despite being a moviegame, there is actual gameplay and combat mechanics. They are simple mechanics but still combat gameplay.
I bought a used PS4 for Bloodborne and Tsushima and it was well worth it.
Great game, don't listen what Yea Forumsirgins have to say about it, they immediately compare it to assassin's creed for no reason
>Ghosts of Soi
Not even once
>What am I in for?
Having no honor.
Open world is pretty but shallow.
Combat is good enough. Jin automatically faces enemies during combat which annoys me but it doesn't ruin it.
Ended up liking the story even though act 2 and 3 start slow.
Also the platinum trophy is really easy to get.
> don't listen to what others have to say!
OK nigger. Why should I listen to you, you're a Yea Forumsirgin
Met the developer. He seemed based. He was an UoFM fag, but was smart nonetheless. That alone I give a recommendation.
So far it seems ok
Combat seems easy
Not enough enemy variance, combat gets boring after a few hours and the game is like 40 hours long.
Normal mode is made for journalists.
Not that Hard or Lethal are difficult either but the enemies actually try to fuck you up in those.
samurai power fantasy, ninja not so much
ignoring most of the stealth and just strolling through forts like i'm the goddamn battousai was fucking kino
samurai gameplay was a lot more fun and challenging than going for the stealth route
Unironically the only "open world, touch all the towers and then collect all the things on the map" game that isn't completely shit. Play it on hardest difficulty for maximum kino. Kurosawa mode is a meme, play it with the colors on. If you're like me and are the kind of person who autistically does the side quests and collectibles first before the main story missions, save yourself some grief and don't skip the first two main story missions, unwittingly robbing yourself of the bow and the ability to backstab/stealth kill for like the first 40 hours, like I did.
Very pretty game. One of the most beautiful with its environmental art direction. Biggest draw of the game desu.
Story has some great moments and some questionable moments, but I liked it overall. Characters are fine.
Combat is sort of what you make of it. You can get away with mashing a few buttons or you can get creative and weave in a bunch of different tools and special moves. Some people like that both options are there, some people hate it. Some people think the stealth is too simple, but I think it's fine for what it is and is woven in to the normal combat well enough.
Exploration is repetitive, but the handful of little events that you repeat in exploring were charming enough for me not to mind the repetition, and I think the game is gorgeous enough to want to walk around and see the sights. Other people will think otherwise, though.
Didn’t read. Didn’t have to. The game is shit and so are you.
An open world ninja game with a kino story and what Assassin’s Creed should have become.
>ignoring most of the stealth and just strolling through forts like i'm the goddamn battousai was fucking kino
Fucking this. Playing it on Lethal was sometimes a bit annoying because you would be so into stunlocking a big mongol dude and some shitter stabs you with a spear without you noticing. But so fucking great to just walk forward, being an unstoppable killing machine and then finishing the whole shit with the Heavenly Strike. It's great how the wind in the game moves with your Heavenly Strike, a sudden gust and a blood splash, body falling down and Jin sheathes his sword.
Like I said earlier in it's just kino.
>Unironically the only "open world, touch all the towers and then collect all the things on the map" game that isn't completely shit
100% agree
Don't care what you fags think.
Boring as fuck, only like 5 enemy types, locked into being a dickass ninja when it comes to the story (I just captured a castle with only my uncle and myself and now you are telling me I cant rush over this bridge and HAVE to poison the mongols?) The game does look good though
Honestly one of the best and most soulful stories in gaming.
Late game combat is extremely engaging and fun with lots of options and playing on higher difficulties makes it really heart pumping.
Played it on the ps4 so I can't say about 5, but it must be one of the best looking games i've ever seen, bridging the realistic with the stylized.
it gets boring very fas even before act two i didn’t had the will anymore to clear yet another mongol camp
About to play this on steam...
Incredibly beautiful game that drags in the middle but has a kino ending. Well worth playing but you probably don't want to 100% it.
Tsushima-chads, did you go with the Red or White ending?
White is obviously the only correct choice
i let the faggot live so he can live in shame for the rest of his life.
There are two ways to play this game
The true samurai way or the scummy, coward, ninja way that uses stealth and ghost weapons
If you dont announce yourself at every enemy base and parry the hell out of those mongol bastards you are not a real warrior
Uncle is best character in the game so I went with red ending, but I think white has the better-done ending scene. More impactful and emotional.
If you let him live I don't even have to tell you to kill yourself because you're already dead inside and devoid of human emotions.
i found it a lot of fun
What the fuck I bet you didn't feel a thing during pic related scene.
You can't claim to like Uncle and then disappoint him with that choice.
That side quest with the old woman with dementia was more kino than 90% of other story driven games
I went with kill because it was what he wanted, and after all the shit Jin put him through at least it was a way to honor him in the end.
Retard, Jin didnt wanted to kill his only family member because of some retarded moral code that he didnt followed anymore
I love the game but my main complaint is that there is no alternative path were you retain your samurai honor. Even if you never use stealth or ninja weapons (outside of the scripted/mandatory sequeces) you're still locked into becoming the ghost.
I would have loved to see a inFamous-like system were depending on your actions and choices you'd go down a bushi or ghost path.
>because you're already dead inside and devoid of human emotions.
Way too late for that. The old him already died after he had his first unhonorable stealth kill. Fuck tradition, fuck honor, fuck losing battles, fuck the old way of thinking. I just want victory.
Yeah, I find surprising that the game lacked a branched storyline and it pushes you into the Ghost side no matter how you play.
Regardless of that the gameplay only shines if you stick to an "honorabu" fighting style
I cried when my boi died.
Also, you're suppose to leave him alive as a way to say fuck you to old traditions.
By killing him, you're just as retarded as your uncle.
The problem is that such a system would compromise the core narrative theme (that sometimes you need to abandon tradition and do things the unconventional way in order to survive).
The breaking point for Shimura is using the poison. He tolerates any Ghost LARPing up to that point, but the moment you basically give the enemy the means to poison the entire nation, Shimura draws the line.
Maybe I’m biased, because I played the game full Ghost from beginning to end, but I feel like playing full Samurai wouldn’t be too jarring either.
I almost couldn't make it through that because I actually saw it happen with a family member. That shit was way too real.
beautiful art style direction and an actually decent open world samurai assassins creed-like game
You cried because you’re a faggot
I wish I had a ps5 or a pc port, this game is unironic kino with a shitty ubisoft open world core
Its not about Jin, its about his uncle.
Even if Jin didn't care about his code of honor anymore his uncle still did. Denying your uncle his death will destroy him. He'll be miserable for the rest of his life, will lose respect of his retainers and subjects and that is if he doesn't decide to commit suicide to keep his honor. Or even worse, the shogun could consider your uncle a traitor too because of blood ties and demand his seppuku.
If Jin truly loves his uncle, for as much as it will pain jin to do it, he should finish him off as a warrior.
Some sidequests are really well done. Much in line with old Kurosawa movies. They get dark fast even when the game suffers from being toned down (seeing mongols yelling at women instead of raping them breaks the inmersion)
Especially weird because the game gives you those flashbacks of uncle disapproving exactly when you do those dishonorable things. Left me thinking "hmm should I load an earlier save and just not be the Ghost, is there another way to play"
But no, there is no other way. Disappointing, but somewhat understandable because the game has that specific kind of story to tell. Why would the title be Ghost of Tsushima if you were the proud samurai boy your old man wanted?
>If Jin truly loves his uncle, for as much as it will pain jin to do it, he should finish him off as a warrior.
No user. It's because he loves his uncle that he won't kill him. He already threw away the bullshit honor crap. No reason to stick to it. To not kill his Uncle is to show his resolve in following his new path. To kill him shows he's weak as fuck and still follows the old honor bullshit.
No, following a moral system you are against just because its the tradition and your elder wants you to follow is a way to never break the cycle.
The game is not really explicit about it but Jin becomes a revolutionary against the samurai caste system towards the end
I had a lot of fun with the game. It's got some of that open-world movie game shit but it's still a good game
it gud
I watch my little bro play it on his ps4 cause consoles are for babbis
but it looked like a decent mindless open world collectathon with a heartwarming story
I honestly like the stealth more than the combat. Both are good, but if you make a combat build, the combat then becomes too easy. It’s much better to go full ninja and then have actually challenging boss fights as a result. Going full ninja makes the game feel like a Tenchu game. In fact, my favourite mission in the game is that Yuna side quest where you have to kill the slavers on their farm without being seen.
Basically this. I thought Shimura was an absolute retard who would have ruined his whole island if it weren’t for Jin and Yuna basically winning the war for him. I was also salty about him indirectly getting my horse killed. So I chose to spare him as a final “fuck you” at the end.
I thought killing him was a fitting farewell to tradition, like Tom Cruise's Last Samurai.
The last part of samurai in Jin was finally buried with Uncle, giving Jin an inner peace. But that's just my way of thinking and I'm a sucker for that flavor of stuff.
A Tsushima-ish game in feudal Europe could be interesting too but this level of cheesiness is a fine line between schlock and kino
Capeshit like writing, tons of woke liberal bullshit
Again, its not about Jin's honor its about Shimura's.
Jin is already confortable with being "dishonorable", Shimura isn't. Jin gains or proves nothing by being a dick to his only living family, but Shimura loses everything if Jin is. He'll be left a husk, alone, having lost his honor and all his family.
its like being a atheist and being angry at your religious grandma for saying "bless you". It might not mean anything for you, but it means for someone you love.
based funposter
But it is about Jin
If Shinura is going to be punished by tge Shogun afterwards thats on the Shoguns conscience (or lack off) Is it unfair? Sure it is, because the feudal code is unfair. Jin had enough of it
Why do you let that stuff bother you, the game still has a ton of good things to offer even if some woke cityslicker wrote a female character to be your best friend.
Fucking peasants being blinded by literal propaganda, the only thing stopping you from enjoying this is you. Not everything has to be 100% vril charged Black Sun-backdropped Hyperborea vision to be good. There are good and beautiful things everywhere, don't let idiots stop you from enjoying life and videogames.
It's great
Don't listen to retards here
Makes me wonder what ending they’d go off of for a sequel.
Jin’s English VA said that he considers the Spare ending canon, but there’s also a bunch of alternate dialogue in both the main game and the DLC depending on whether or not you killed or spared Shimura.
I have never played this game but your post has convinced me to never play it because that's probably what the devs were aiming at. What a bunch of faggots.
