Halo 3 was one of the worst games in the franchise, multiplayer aside.

2 had some good things going for it but CE was the superior game.

Halo CE was always better than Halo 2.

CE had a very nice atmosphere but the quality was all over the place. Some levels were actual slogs. At least 2 always felt like you were seeing new things, although it had too many "stay here and hold out" sections. And it did lose the wonderful sense of isolation that CE had.

1's gameplay with 2's levels would have made for a top-tier combination.

The covenant don't feel as fun a to fight in 2 compared to CE. Their ai got worse with every game.

At least in 3, they dodge grenades again, Halo 2 they just weren't fun at all anymore.

It's not so much the AI that got worse as it is the guns getting worse. Everything in the Bungie games got progressively nerfed as time went on, making the player a lot weaker.

I have been saying this for two decades.

I get they did it for multiplayer balance, but it really hurts the campaign experience. There are some mods for MCC that make the guns more fun to use again, but then you're obviously fucking with the difficulty balance.

2 absolutely smashed the plot, sound and art design and characterisation out of the park.
Best cast, best dialogue, best voice acting, I really can't stress enough

CE was peak at being a simple, self contained story, whereas 2 was peak because of it's grandiosity

It sucks for the multiplayer balance too, but it really hurts the campaign most of all because you have so little health compared to CE on top of every gun being so much weaker.

Bungie should have did what 343 did and separated the two when it came to weapon and vehicle balancing. It's stupid to fuck up the balancing in one mode because the weapons or vehicles don't work as well in another mode.

When did 343 ever do that? I think it's a good idea for weapons to function mostly the same between modes.

Dual wielding was always the most thing in any Halo game.

2 still has a ton of soul. All of those cutscenes on high charity are oozing with it.

Infinite, weapons are great in the campaign but suck ass in the multiplayer. I like that they did that because I don't need competitivetards fucking up the campaign because weapons don't work well in their modes. If they want to make a weapon stronger or weaker in multiplayer, keep the change in multiplayer and don't ruin the campaign for it, it's stupid.

Sounds like a multiplayer problem. Don't make complaints about Bungie weapon balancing issues making the campaigns worse if you're accepting of letting some MP schizo screw up fun weapons in the campaign, that stuff needs to be separate that way campaign weapons can be fun to use like in CE.

Talking about Halo 3 and saying "multiplayer aside" is so astoundingly ignorant that I can 100% believe its a post someone would make on Yea Forums.
Besides we got ODST's campaign and Firefight on 3's engine which proves the devs still knew how to make excellent campaign content; its just that development seriously centered on multiplayer after 2's surprising dominance with online multiplayer.
There's also some evidence the script of 3 was massively rewritten at some point when it went from being the second half of 2's storyline into needing to be its own actual game so that likely hampered level development.

That's a myth. The only patch applied for multiplayer maps is to give the pistol spread when you hold down the trigger.

They absolutely can. There's no damage or stat change between weapons in campaign and multiplayer, assuming you're playing on Heroic or Legendary.

T&R is not even remotely bad, aside from the open hangar rooms you come into on the ground floor right after the initial killbox room on the ship. The FUCK MOTHERING elites on those central platforms are always such a bitch to strip shields and get headshots on.

Overplayed conformist opinion. Library is perfectly fine, its actually fairly short and just exists to orient you to dealing with the Flood. The Maw sucks so much more absolute shit especially on Legendary.

Its because CE's combat sandbox is virtually perfect. I'm amazed it took until ODST for there to be a wave defense mode. I guess Gears 2 really struck gold with that idea.

Halo devs have tried to reinvent the wheel with every release, burning the people who liked the old game.

Would you have any interest in a Reach mod that aims to recreate the pistol's stats? Shot lead, mag size, etc. The rest of the guns are balanced differently.
