For me it was the year 2007 Yea Forums. Fucking non-stop funposting. OC out the ass. Was like everyone was on ecstasy, and vidya discussions were a blast and fairly thoughtful (minus consolewars, luckily those were pretty good containment threads).

Current day Yea Forums is just the same shade of shit as other sites minus the obvious lack of getting banned if you say something that people don't like. Shit, you can even see the same attitudes reflected on Yea Forums from other places, worst part is that this sort of thing was not nearly as rampant even during the years (2011 - 2015) when people considered Yea Forums to have gone to the shitter.
I'd fucking leave but there are very little parts of the internet that I can turn to aside from private groups and communities. Might as well pull the trigger sooner than later because it's increasingly clear that I don't belong here anymore.

The modern mods and jannies absolutely hate funposting. So many fun threads get nuked while they leave up terrible garbage threads. Then again, most new users hate funposting anyway. Most think any OC is cringe or reddit which is why you barely see any of it anymore

The fast pace of posting combined with the sheer rate of how many threads are just shitposts can make it difficult to have worthwhile threads, but once in a blue moon it does happen.

These days I mostly like Zelda threads, as I feel they have a slightly higher probability of not being pure shitposts. It's not much higher, but it is a little, I think.

The only good threads are lobcorp and blacksouls and that's only because people get filtered by the games, that's literally it, no other thread discusses vidya or creates OC.

I think the cynicism here has gone too far to the point that any genuine discussion about some game is considered by many to be shilling service or something. Anyway, I still think it's a good place.

nintendo games tend to have decent threads, at least, more actual discussion and less shitposting. (unless its botw then its a shitposting magnet sadly)
donkey kong threads imo are some of the most "Yea Forums-like" threads ive seen (like mid 2000s Yea Forums style). but they're extremely slow and rare and often just get like 70 replies before the utter deluge of shitposting threads smack it off
I sometimes wonder if Yea Forums would be improved by having 50% more board space.
