I liked it a lot more than I expected to.

definitely has soul but the controls are kinda garbage and a few of the levels not so good.
Yep, I love the game but this is accurate.
I think the only level I really actively disliked was the Meat Circus escort quest.
And that bit in the asylum with all the exploding rats.
Best level.
What's your favorite clairvoyance image?
artistically, but the least fun to play
Will 2 be good, and fuck them for putting resolving the cliffhanger in a VR game, only game I ever fully watched on Youtube instead of playing myself
pull Lili's Bracelet out of your inventory and use clarivoyance on it
and you get THIS
I thought it was clever that if you go back to the Basic Braining level and use clairvoyance on the rabbits in the shooting range they'll see you as a butcher.
>kickstarted sequel to a 25 year old game
I want it to be good, but everything is in place for failure.
I think I'm going to enjoy the sequel but I don't want to go into it over-hyping the idea of it being more creative and charming than the original.
Though at the very least I expect the combat to be better from what we've seen. The first game was always too stiff when using powers to fight, but they look much less sluggish now in terms of speed and movement.
>resolving the cliffhanger in a VR game
VR game doesn't resolve anything, it's yet another cliff hanger that leads into the sequel
Amazing game.
9/10, at least.
The fact that Sasha sees you as a younger version of himself.
>Do amazing e3 reveal
>"send in.........
>THE PSYCHONAUTS!"
>Reveal scam funding
>do nothing for years
>do nothing for years
They've been development updates though.
>he doesn't check the Double Fine YT
dumb mangaposter
It resolves the immediate issue of what happened to Truman and Loboto but I remember reading in an interview that the sequel was originally conceived with Truman's kidnapping going to be resolved off-screen before the game started, as a sort of setup for intro.
they paid all the investors after getting bought out by microsoft, it wasn't a complete scam.
What's the ETA on it?
Early next year. Supposedly.
Lili is for ____
Getting a head-start on that 401k.
>PS2 version
I rented this back in the day but have never beaten it. I do have it on Steam but my laptop sucks. I'm kicking myself for not buying it on PS4 recently when it was on sale. I do really want to play through it finally and support Psychonauts 2 because I remember really liking it. Always did absolutely love the concept, the characters, and the world. I remember the gameplay being pretty alright too.
what is the best version of this game to play bros. I played the ps2 version back in the day dunno if the others were better. what about playing the PC version in 2019? how them textures hold up in 1080?
Opposite for me.
Hype made me think this was going to be some amazing masterful game but in reality it's a okay/meh game that's largely propped up via atmosphere and aesthetic.
Which is fine but the way people go over about it I assumed it was going to have some godly level polish and design when reality it's just an okay game that you'll probably appreciate even more if you're a fan of Tim Burton.
I played it again a month ago for the first time in over a decade and it just brought me right back. Such a great game, and it still holds up well today. Pretty short though.
Also, fuck some of those figments, they were hard as fuck to find.
Steam version is probably my favorite port.
PS4 works alright but it has some weird lighting issues and a few audio bugs.
PC is best by a long shot, holds up well and runs well on modest hardware
PC>xbone>xbox>xbox 360>PS4>PS2>PS3
The PC version. You can buy/emulate the original Xbox version if you want the "pure" experience but the PC version is the easiest to get up and running and has some significant quality of life improvements.
If you have a PS3 or PS4 you can also get it on there. The ports are good and it's pretty comfy.
Psychonauts was my first OG Xbox game and I fucking loved it. I hope Tim can keep his bullshit out of the sequel.
As a straight up platformer it's not going to win any awards, and the combat's fairly forgettable, but it still has some of my favorite level design in gaming in just how far they go with the presentation and giving every level a unique visual and mechanical flair to it. It's a title that really tells the story through the way that the different levels play and feel, in a way that only video games can do as a medium. But I can see why it's not for everyone.
RoR is basically an epilogue to the original game and a prologue for the sequel.
Thanks for the info lads. I'll go for the steam version then, easier then burning a disc to run off my xbox.
The summer camp theme is one of my go-to nostalgia tracks. youtube.com
It makes me wistful for a place I never went to.
to elaborate:
PC is best because of uncapped framerate and arbitrary resolution support, EVERY console version is capped at 30fps
every console version is the xbox or PS2 version emulated and the xbox version is much better
xbox version runs better on original hardware than emulated on 360, but better on xbone than either
PS2 is a little better on PS4, it's worst on PS3 because it's a shitty emulator on underpowered hardware running a shitty port for underpowered hardware, double cancer
the inherent PS2 flaws are higher input lag, lower quality textures, no normal mapping, generally much worse performance, and the camera never checks if it's clipping, so it constantly goes inside walls
>do nothing
They showed gameplay at this year's E3 and a trailer the year before that
I think they ironed out the final level a bit too. Or at least gave you unlimited lives during some of the more bullshit moments.
What a great game, absolutely filled to the brim with SOUL!!!
>mfw Psychonauts 2 trailer
Played the first more times than I care to admit. So fucking hyped for this shit.
I think my favorite unnecessary detail of this game is how the hands of water that try to drown Raz show up in so many different ways throughout the game, as a sort of threat that he can't even hope to escape in the minds of other people.
Have you guys played Anodyne 2? The writing can be grating and there are not many platforming sections (it is more of an exploration game) but I enjoyed it overall. You enter monsters to "clean" them and the game transitions to a 2D Zelda style. The inner worlds are more abstract than the ones in Psychonauts though.
>love interest is a tsundere twintail loli
Is Tim Schafer a weeaboo?
>Milka just sees you as another set of footsteps because she panics and turns invisible whenever she hears anyone approaching
>Tim Shitner worship
This place really is reddit, isn't it? He is a lefty faggot who has never made anything good.
It's your first day on Yea Forums.
>You enter monsters to "clean" them
Like, Magic School Bus style?
One of the best things psychonauts had going for it was exploration. It was one of the last great collecathons before the whole genre fell off the face of the planet.
At least there's been a small resurgence as of late with Hat in Time, Mario, and all the recent remasters.
>he thinks liking lefties and redditposting is normal
You're new.
