How did Halo fall so far from grace? It used to be a household name

CoD of duty with aliens
You honestly think it sells?

3 is shit

343

money

take one look at /hg/ a general that should’ve died long ago survives solely on seeth because of 343. absolute state of this franchise and it’s fans.

COD4 came along and changed the game. They should have left it alone after 3. Reach was okay, but everything after has just been chasing trends.

infinite has me a bit excited, gives me a reason to fire up the xbox one again. i can wait for this collection though, if i want to i can just plug in the xbox and play it now

>he didn't get into the firefight test flight
LAFFO!

Halo 4 was garbage and it's not like ODST/Reach brought in tons of new players.

How's it feel with kb/m?

Would Halo be more popular if it stayed the way it was instead of copying Call of Duty? At least then it would've been different than other games in the market.

here is your reply

I don't know, that's from a youtube clip. I've read it does feel awesome and they did a good job adapting the controls and adding a deeper FOV.

fuck me meant for

Different doesn't necessarily translate to sales.

Good thing it had sales then.

>infinite has me a bit excited, gives me a reason to fire up the xbox one again
>infinite
>xbox one
user, I...

It saw a decline after Reach, especially in online players. Hell, I think Reach is still the most played online.

?

I don't know, man. I have a diddely feelerino they're going to have to push it to the xbox one 2.

It did die chasing trends, but really it ended up in the hands of people who had no idea what to do with it. The story is a clusterfuck, the multiplayer has a needless amount of CoD spilled in it, and everything else suffered too to some degree. Halo had such a strong identity even after Modern Warfare changed the environment of console FPS. The reverence people have for the Master Chief Collection proves it.

Probably gonna be sub-30FPS on Xbone and full detail 60FPS on next gen. MS is copying the cross-generational launch title thing that Nintendo did with Breath of the Wild

I've realized that if something popular lasts long enough, it seemingly continues to exist only to spite its former fans who now hate it.

I very much look forward to marathoning the series once again in the month or two leading up to Infinite's release. I haven't played them since 2015.

women.

I feel sad that I never got into the series back during its peak with the first trilogy. Seems like the old halo community back then would've been amazing. I want to get into the series and the lore but after the last decade of fuckups, I'm not even sure if it's a good investment of my time.

Mcc release when?

I don’t mind waiting. Got a lot of vidya to work on for now, and I rather see the PC MCC done cleanly.
It’ll be worth it, lads.
Who else going /all600cheevos/?

lel

bungie stopped making them and those 343 shitters took over and ran it into the ground. at least they were able to finish the fight before they let those children take over

It's a great lore to get into, especially the stuff during the Bungie-era games. I would also argue that the Nylund books (Fall of Reach, First Strike, Ghosts of Onyx) would be pretty good sci-fi reads, even if they didn't have the Halo branding attached to them.

I hold out hope that 343 learned their lessons after the lukewarm-at-best reaction to 4 and 5, and can salvage something decent out of it all with Infinite. It seems like they're trying, at least.

>I hold out hope that 343 learned their lessons
how can you still have hope for 343?

They shitcanned the guy in charge of 5, for one. Plus, no more of this Locke business. They also went back to the tank-like Mjolnir designs, instead of the Evangelion shit from 4 and 5. It's clear that they're listening to feedback, and are at least trying to get better.

most ideas have a shelf life, user.

The only reason franchises like mario can stick around for so long is because SMB is nothing like odyssey, they tried to do other stuff with the halo IP like halo wars and people weren't really interested.

End of the day there's only so many times you can update the same core game.
