was this game ever good?
Was this game ever good?
Other urls found in this thread:
I didn't play it until a couple of years ago and it's my third favorite game
At launch it seemed like a big step back but compared to the shit we have now its a masterpiece
so you've only played 3 games?
yeah it's pretty fun, has lots of lore, and is easy to sink a lot of hours into
these are the three things I prioritize when deciding whether a game is good or bad
theres some good ideas here ruined by one-dimensional combat, underwhelming sill trees, bethesda's insistence on insyant gratification rather than classic slow-burning rpg gameplay. It's really not that bad, even without mods.
it's a fun mess about and it's decent wank fuel when you get it modded up properly
It's good with 30+ mods installed.
It's good after you install a thousand mods
WHICH IS IT? 30 OR 1000???!!!!
I can't replay it. Idk why. Even with 5000 mods
How the fuck do I make patches for my mods? I just realized that I have to do this.
30 if you want to play the game comfy enough and don't care about graphics and waifus, just a couple of combat and convenience mods.
1000 mods and countless hours spent just modding if you're going all out waifu, sex, graphics.
post your cuties
If you...
>babbys first RPG
Yes 10/10
>been playing RPGs since oblivion
Average, nothing special.
>been playing RPGs since morrowind
Not really that good, maybe worth it on a sale.
>been playing RPGs since fallout
>Total garbage. Pirate and stop playing at less than 20 hours of gameplay
TESVEdit IIRC.
Skill Tree Talent:
>5, 10, 15% More Damage with 1 H Weapons
Woah. Innovative
fun game bad Elder Scrolls game. prepare for 6 being even worse example of Elder Scrolls.
>mana regeneration is percentage based and only scales with size of mana pool
>spell damage doesn't scale at all
>someone decided this was shippable
depends on the type of patch, most big mods that have compatibility issues have public patches around, if its patches for leveled lists then just run Wrye Bash or Mator Smash and it creates a patch automatically, if is something more specific then xEdit should do the trick.
You should download my CRPG mod. It’s a WIP as I try to convert it to Special Edition
Mods existed shortly after launch, and the level of hype was insane. People were getting Skyrim tattoos due to the popularity.
I use Edit, and I use a trick from a video where you make a mask or something, but how do I know what to keep and what not to? Like ELFX and Cutting Room floor both change some "cell", but I don't even know wtf this is.
Looks neat, whats it called?
what are you trying to do exactly? If you don't know about what patch you're making then you don't know what you're doing. ELFX and CRF are two mods that have a lot of public compatibility patches, look for those.
only with mods
my game has weird as fuck glitches even though I mainly have a bunch of texture mods. So I start up EDIT and the whole thing is fucking red. Im trying to make it green or yellow
I liked it. Played modded on pc was fun for a while.
one glitch is this ball just rotating on a mountain. If this isn't a glitch then someone needs to tell me
>armor rating is worthless until it hits 300
>light armor doesn't have a noticable effect until mid-late game
>heavy armor conditioning perk removes any drawback and completely invalidates light armor even for stealth archery
>he doesn't want stamina regen
Have you never done the College of Winterhold questline?
Yeah, ok, you don't really know what you're doing then. You don't need to make compatibility patches for all your mods, them being red is normal, it just means that you have mods editing similar things, which is where your load order comes in, you have to place mods you give a higher priority lower on your load order, you don't need to make a compatibility patch for every single mod you have.
If there are two mods that modify similar things and you want to make them work together that's when you make a compatibility patch, but then you need to know what you're looking for.
Download and use LOOT, it'll help with sorting your mods, just remember that lower on the list=higher priority mod.
What do you mean its "rotating on a mountain"? That Orb is part of the College of Winterhold quest, you should find it inside a dungeon, then later it gets moved to inside the college. If that orb is somewhere else, like on top of a mountain, then a mod added it there, doesn't mean its a compatibility issue, just a mod doing something you don't know about, probably because you didn't read the mod page and just installed a random mod without knowing what it does. Don't just install mods, read the page and know what it does before installing.
He cute
your texture mod load order should look something like this
>huge as fuck texture packs that retextures most things
>smaller texture packs that retextures certain chunks of things or parts of the terrain better than the huge as fuck packs
>very small texture packs that effect a small/very specific amount of things
>texture mods that change a singular thing
the bigger packs will be overwritten by the smaller packs, and you want this because the smaller/singular mods more often than not look better than the massive retextures because of the amount of effort put into each texture respectively
Heres the truth.
The first 30-40 hours of skyrim is magic. The game is fun, exciting and wonderful when it is still novel to the player. Unfortunately it wears thin and the player realizes it has very little to offer. The skills are too dumbed down for people who like RPGs and there is no real risk after hitting a certain level. It's bugs become apparent and you realize it really is just okay at best.
if it weren't for inigo and QoL mods i would have never dragged myself through the game
This game is really bad even with mods.
I feel like mods are just trying to duct tape together a shit game to make it work.
I hate the character customization. You have little to no control over how your character looks.
I hate the RPG elements/skill trees, most of the weapons and armors look like shit. Magic is boring as hell despite being the greatest thing humans could ever hope to achieve. The engine is notoriously outdated and glitchy.
There's no well thought or developed system in the game at all. Cooking/Alchemy, Speech, Enchanting, Smithing are chores.
I feel stupid for buying this game again on PC after playing it on 360 when it came out.
I KNOW I DON'T NEED TO MAKE IT FOR EVERYTHINGGGGGG!!!1!!! Do you think it seems normal that a fucking mage orb is just casually sitting on a random rock outside of Helgen? I don't have a mod that's like "adds an orb to this location", it's obviously some sort of fuckery. I use LOOT BASH and all this shit. My mods are completely basic bitch babbys first mods as well
i know i'm retarded but i rushed the game (vanilla) from start to end with no side quests, did i miss anything important?
>important
no
>fun
yes
Other glitches: doorframe to blue palace is transparent. I use Citrus Head mesh standalone (yes I've double checked this), but sometimes males will randomly be seen using the citrus mesh (which is totally obvious and looks like shit desu)
It was fine, and released during a time that a singleplayer open-world sandbox felt like a breath of fresh air alongside so many dry linear titles.
I was always disappointed that the quests were never of the same caliber as Oblivion though.
i legitimately can't comprehend how anyone likes skyrim, it's one of the ugliest and most bare bones "RP"Gs ever created
>fun
please explain further my dear friend
Don't forget all of the legendary weapons are scaled. So if you complete the Dawnbreaker quest at level 20, the sword will be shit later game despite it being a Legendary item gifted to you by the gods
Less than a minute of google and I found the issue with the Eye of Magnus being on top of a mountain is an issue with the mod Real Clouds. Open that mod on xEdit and delete this entry, doesn't need a compatibility patch.
Every time you see an issue with a mod fucking with something in the world, you can use this mod nexusmods.com
Blue Palace doors being transparent is a mesh issue, disable any mods that alter Solitude to check which mod is screwing with the door.
Took a screenshot to show u guys what I mean. It wasn't next to Helgen though, I remembered wrong.
Morrowloot is /bestmod/
Ok thank you, friend. I will look into this thing you said.
this one got me
first off, that's a ravine, not a mountain
>13th of November 2011
>Exploring the cold far north ocean
>See a map marker on the compass way out on the water to the north
>Go to it
>Talk to crazy wizard in front of ominous dwemer cube
>Starts talking about how it may hold the heart of Lorkhan
>My penis could not be harder
>Sends me to dwemer fort
>Explore through to Blackreach
>Thought I discovered an enormous, hidden dungeon like the underground maze with Face of God from Morrowind.
>Turns out there's nothing there and you go there in the main campaign.
My balls were blue for weeks after.
How do I make a thicc argorian/dragon hybrid?
I agree, you're right. I was down in that wooden shack with Lydia when I first sa it. Seemed a mountain at the time.
>he doesn't know of the hidden boss
Only with mods. Also sex mods are a meme, just go fap to porn.
Sex mods are shit, yes. But if you are a facefag like me you will get turned on by sculpting the girl's face
game has many things to do
some of those things are fun
you did few things
you did not as many fun things
It's a terrible game, but it's good as a cozy house decorating simulator.
don't need mods son
Tfw want to play it again but don't want to spend years downloading, installing and fixing mods.
thanks my dude
Recommend me an enb with lighting mods that won't destroy my FPS like NAT enb does
I play Elder Scrolls for lore and art direction, so I love Skyrim. I was a full mage the first time I played and it was the most fun I've had with one of these games. The combat is still bad, but there is enough variety with goofy shouts and such to keep it entertaining. Most people that say they hate it have at least 60 hours logged.
great picture
Get a better computer.
Imagine being so easily amused
Holy hell... that's one lucky guy
I don’t understand why people like Skyrim. Maybe if you played on PC and modded the shit out of it, but I couldn’t understand why a console player would like it. It’s ugly, dungeons are just hallways, and the combat sucks ass. I’m not even one of those people who think Morrowind or Oblivion is better. I haven’t even played Morrowind and I thought Oblivion sucked too (though I did play it on console, not PC).
gib sauce aaaa
For me it's that I can make my own character. I didn't like The Witcher 3 because I didn't like Geralt and I didn't want to be a witcher.
If I had it I wouldn't need to be asking.
My comp is fine user
What a useless argument. Boomer's keep forgetting that old RPG games were often horribly done, and convoluted. Pen and paper was just translated over, the devs thinking that it would work, and we often got a bunch of plodding dorky shit.
This. Every single person who regularly plays/enjoys the Elder Scrolls loves creating their character above and beyond anything else. The people who don't understand the appeal of the games typically don't mind or even prefer playing a pregenerated character (Geralt, Link, Shepard etc.) especially since that route offers better storytelling possibilities since the character is integrated into the world and has a past which can be referenced by other characters.
Much like CA with Total War, Bethesda is successful solely because they are less shit than their competitors at filling the niche for their genre - in Bethesda's case, open world waifu makers.
I can understand if that is one aspect of Skyrim that you like. But the game fails in just about every other department. As far as open world games go, the game world is just ugly and filled with pointless dungeons.
Yeah that's why I tried Skyrim but it failed to meet expectations or standards.
