It's good if you like handhelds, playing while in bed is nice and that's where I used it most of the time. Using it solely as a console hooked up to a TV seems like the wrong way to use it.

You could just emulate, and buy a GPD Win 2 for less if you want to play more games in handheld form.

I ended up rebuying some of my favorite indie titles (RoR, Nuclear Throne, Hollow Knight) because I enjoy just sitting on my couch and playing, as opposed to at my desk. The first party titles are solid as well, but I've always been a Nintendo fan

Steam link is cool, but it's still got loads of problems.
It still seems like 8 times out of 10 even if the game has full controller support some issue will force me to walk back to my computer to fix something.
Sometimes it won't maximize properly and I have to go and alt+tab into the launched game, sometimes there will be some splash screen you have to click through or the cursor will automatically center and not vanish so you have to move the mouse off the screen.
Even when the latency is fine, steam streaming has problems.

You will know the comfiness of playing your own custom minecraft server in bed, in the living room, etc. Just gotta tweak a few things to force it, but once you do, it's grade A /comfy/

Before they offered to sell it to me they were asking for gaming recommendations, because believe it or not, aside from the mainline nintendo games the switch is NOT a casual friendly system. Its full of JRPGs and 2d games. When i would recommend almost any game the reactions were something like this,

BotW is pretty mediocre and you can already play it better on PC. Get Smash or Splatoon instead.

GU isn't actually that grindy for a monster hunter game. Drop rates are much fairer and you start with pretty much unlimited money and 500 potions if you claim the freebie DLCs. You can easily play it as a popcorn hunting game. You might need to fight a monster two or three times to make an armor set, but that armor set will last you like 50h before you need to make another one. It was mainly the earlier monster hunter games that had insane grind. The great thing about GU is that it has so much to do. There are close to 100 monsters to fight, and each has three difficulty ranks. Assuming 10 minutes per hunt and both single player/multi content, you definitely get your moneys worth while barely needing to repeat the same encounters.
