The actual problem with UE, and what has been the problem with UE since UE fucking 1, is that it has so many premade shaders, effects, and scripts that the only people who actually bother using it properly are fucking Epic. So every other game ends up looking like muddy shit on UE3 or shiny shit on UE4, nothing runs as well as it has a right to, and collision and movement are never really "right". It's the same problem Unity has. Neither are bad engines but if you give developers training wheels they're sure as fuck going to use them.

Fable wasn't even that good, it was just comfy. Surprised it has such a following after all these years.

Very comfy. It was one of the first Xbox games I ever played so I have the nostalgia bias but they did something with it that makes it good for a runthrough every few years.

My fault for not clarifying. I meant a copy of Fable 3 on PC. It has mixed reviews but some recent ones are saying it works. Biggest complaint appears to be a plethora of glitches. Personally not an issue since I have an Xbox and PC but it is frustrating you can't do a trilogy run purely on PC.

Fable 2 wasn't that bad, Christ. The only truly awful part of it was Stephen Fry's Gary Stu character who you only saw at the end anyway.

It's not an absolutely terrible game, but it's a very bad fable game.

My memory of it is that it wasn't well optimized, I hated the magic compared to the earlier games and the multiplayer was horseshit that barely ever worked.

The story was boring and the ending felt forced as fuck.

On hindsight, I guess it's worth it (now) but when it was new, it wasn't.

I recently replayed Fable 2 and 3. 2 is great and I don't really understand why people shit on it, its probably just irrational hatred for Molyneux.

Fable 3 is total dogshit though. God awful store interface, no UI, horrible tedious micromanagement of properties, way too many fucking cutscenes, and the game fails to break 20FPS in any given area. What an absolute fucking slog of a game. Its only redeeming quality was its multiplayer, while not incredible in any way friends almost always make things more tolerable.

Fable 2 wasn't dog shit, don't lie.
It felt faithful to the first game, trying to improve on what made the first good.
Fable 3 on the other hand is the very definition of the soul vs souless meme. It felt like it was made by someone who never played fable a day in their life, a hollow shitty illusion that looked good on the outside but had no sustenance on the inside.
Fable has always been about a self insert story, what decisions you make, how good or evil your character is.

I shit on just the ending. It came too fast and was a disappointment.

We fight Jack of Blades in the first game, it was a great last boss fight compared to what we get in Fable 2. Even Fable 3 had a better ending.

the Court (Knight, Jack and Queen) managed to make Albion bow to their rule after completely fucking up the world and the mind of it's people, so for a while they were treated as champions
Eventually William Black managed to take them down, but thousands of years later the legends of those times were still known to people, so some still considered the Court to be heroes
Jack was the only one that survived by hiding his soul on his mask and fleeing back to the Void, and he later returned to Albion some time before the events of Fable 1
I assume that after returning he acted as a good-doer so his status as hero was reafirmed in the present, even though he was doing all kinds of evil shit behind curtains

EVE is a job, not a game and all those options you've listed are irrelevant unless the gameplay is crafter around their use. In skyrim you can just bash enemy with your sword or throw fireball, there's is no point in crafting or gathering anything.

You know I never thought I would actually want a remake or a reboot of a series, but man I would love another game like Fable that took the few improvements of the sequels and then doubled down on the guild aspect of the first game. If on PC avoid Anniversary. The new artstyle is controversial at best, and it has heavily consolized controls. It's a botched portjob unlike TLC that was much better made on PC.

Fable 2 was undeniable KINO. The setting was interesting and having a renaissance-esque setting was amazing, you don't see that much. It had the perfect mix of humor and drama, comfy gameplay, and a pretty neat story. I pray that 4 is in between 1 and 2. 3 was absolute dogshit but the industrial revolution setting is really nice.
