>VR game where you kill N*zis in a small mech
Looks neat.
forget VR, what needs to stop is this undeserved violence against nazis
Only reason I'm even remotely interested in this game. Most of my playtime is VR, instead of flatscreen.
Afraid of being left behind?
I wish these tie-ins could be more creative then booth shooters but I imagine dev management doesn't want to fund anything more advanced for a niche medium.
What bothers me more is they showing that the engines can support VR but they would add even basic 'headset and joypad' support for the main game.
>*wouldn't
Seriously though. Alien Isolation and Subnautica have shown that even the basic support can add a whole lot to a game.
Tell me, is everything VR still highly dependent on teleportation and static movement to avoid people getting nauseous as shit?
you get used to the movement after a while
>A shitty generic cash grab shooter isn't catering to my needs.
>I will cope with this by shitposting
Then why are all these VR games like this? Standing in place, on a platform, in a mech, throwing teleport markers, driving etc.
Easy to make and a proven 'safe' design. AAA companies don't like chances.
lowest common denominator. they have to appeal to the genetically inferior people who get motion sickness. it's the biggest thing holding back vr gameplay innovation right now.
Oh so people do still in majority get nauseous when introduced to traditional movement? I guess the hopes are on next gen VR.
I don't know if it's the majority, but they're holding the rest back
If they don't get their "vr legs" after many hours of gameplay there's no hope, next gen vr won't help in that regard
It's impossible to improve response times from what we have now? Welp.
It's something you get used to. Like finding your 'sealegs' while riding a boat.
The problem is a lot of people act entitled and think entertainment platforms should require no effort on their part and should magically stop them feeling dizzy.
It's not a response time issue, it's a fundamental problem with their inner ear being unable to adjust with what they're seeing. So moving around in VR without teleporting will cause nausea. There's some methods to help with this (strong vignette, adjusting field of view while moving) but some people just can't get past it.
If a VR game was conceptually you playing a character who was themselves in VR (something similar to the Animus idea in AC), would that alone make it an incredibly immersive experience?
If you tie it heavily into the story, maybe. There are already some games that do this.
Been looking to buy VR shit for a while now, what should I get?
A few games have done that before. Accounting, Super Hot and Virtual, Virtual Reality. It's a pretty neat experience if it's done seamlessly.
Wait and see how the Valve Index is.
I've never really paid much attention to VR beyond doing a demo for work, that seems like it could be a whole genre though. If part-VR was possible then maybe some mind control shit too. Also controlling robots in war games (probably will exist in real life).
Come to think of it, VR seems like it could be really cool past all of the meme games.
If you mean movement speed. Some games have a blinker effect that narrows the view as you're moving fast. It helps a lot.
Something to keep in mind is that VR game movement feels a lot faster in person than when it's played back on a video. I figure that traditional games exaggerate speeds to make for the detachment of playing on a small screen.
Gamers and Nazis are the most oppressed minority
And if it's not so great?
>can't live without my glasses
>VR headset pushes them right into my face
No idea, I've only used the Vive so I can't say how the others are.
Why do they even care? Japanese are known for getting motion sicknes from first person 3D games. Do we stop making first person shooters? No. Are most games designed around armless people? No.
It's the only explanation I have, the VR market isn't exactly massive so they can't cater to just a niche
No, this is more like
>dev: our game was shat upon by everyone despite us pandering to the left
>dev #2: we made enough money from people who think we're fighting the good fight against the nasis. let's make another one
>dev: okay
Fuck nazi incels.
Gamers are nazis
You need glasses to see 5cm?
Bathesda hates Oculus, will make it unplayable
Because people are idiots. Most will get used to the movement quickly, but some people can't, and gamedevs think everyone should have a great experience, so they limit their games to the lowest common denominator
There are lens holders you can buy for the headsets but I hear mixed opinions about them.
It's 2019. Have some self-respect and educate yourself.

>Kill Sci Fi Nazis in a Mech
That sounds a lot fucking better than the Youngblood garbage they're shitting out.
>is everything
no, especially not on PSVR where the DS4 and analog sticks are the primary control method the games are being designed around
PSVR has a few great exclusive games, but I don't know how much support it'll get after 2019 and when the PS5 is announced. I'm saving up to build a PC and buy the Vive, or the Index if it proves compelling enough. Don't really want to support Facebook, so Oculus isn't an option for me.
Too bad it doesn't look that good. Was still fun though.
Wipeout Omega Collection, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Firewall Zero Hour, The Persistence, Farpoint, Moss, Resident Evil 7, Tetris Effect
they gave up the grudge when they won the lawsuit.
People who do get nauseous go on fucking crusades pretending everyone gets just as sick as them. Of course they can't just move on and let people who can adjust be so devs try to cater to them because that's all they can see.
>alt-right incels can't afford a $300 VR headset
LMAO
not a single game listed here uses teleportation the people who get motion sick are the people who don't buy VR games in the first place, they are not being pandered too outside of the early launch titles, or those that started development before the headsets launched
I skimmed what you linked but sure, I believe it. I just also know I tried oculus dev kit without glasses and didn't really notice anything being off despite being severely nearsighted. Perhaps I didn't notice without a newer comparison.
>Wolfenstein is basically dead thanks to excessive outsourcing.
>we haven't had a really good Wolf game since RtcW
Makes me sad
>arkane
thought they had said that VR was a no no because they are little basedbois who get sick
i'd be cool with it if they weren't also praising commie retards
No.
VR needs to keep getting content pumped out, over and over.
That way all the brain dead retards will but it and pump money into the technology to make it worthwhile for people who know strapping a 90s portable TV to your head is stupid.
God speed, ye rich retards.
the only studies that point to a "majority" were done among normal people and using shitty hardware
gamers are a different demographic because they already have "vr legs" from playing flat games, and yes there are literally people who can't play flat games due to motion sickness, also, many of the most played VR games to date have artificial locomotion
>portable
VR wasn't always portable, it was only about now the shills accepted the truth and are going mobile because "this time it will be different"
VR is literal communism right now, if you're a talentless dev with a social media account you get financed to make UE4 shovelware out of goodwill
What are some other VR Mech/Mecha games?
VR sounds like it'd be perfect for them
