Geomancer, Chemist, Mystic Knight are the ones I see most often requested. Beastmaster was but it was cited as a limited job for the future by one of the devs. They have apprehension about balancing 3 healers, seem to have less of an issue with balancing 4 tanks and have no apparent issue with balancing DPS. They may also decide to be happy with healer balance after 5.0 the way they were happy with tank balance (happy enough to add a new tank). I am skeptical we'd not get an expac with no new job but I can see it limited to 2 new jobs, maybe worst case scenario 1.

Geomancer has limited chance due to .
Chemist can work as DPS or Healer.
Mystic Knight and derivatives suffer from yet another sword user + overlapping with red mage although RDM is magic with a bit of melee while Mystic would be melee with a bit of magic.

Viking works with a unique weapon (1h axe, dual wield or no), shares armor with DRG. But is yet another melee DPS class which we have the most of (4 to 3 dps magic 3 dps range).

Time Mage is not unduely rare. Looking around and I see Time Battlemages in F12 Zodiac wears heavy armor, crossbows and is a utility class. Also have access to Green Magics. That's a pretty creative concept. Could wear DRG armor but that'd make for weird stats. A crossbow armed buff/utility mage is neat but risks being basically an arcane archer version of a bard.

Some of us (myself included) thought of Green Knight after the hammer shit because green Knight would be a melee healer with hammers. But they made clear they do not want any more healers in 5.0 so no chance of that. I want mystic knight/rune fencer/spellblade but there's 0 chance of any of them due to RDM so I am not expecting it.

Longer hair + an outfit that helps cover up the neck and elezen usually look fine. There's a reason Aymeric and Estinien are seen as so handsome. I am contractually obligated to love elf girls but even so I find their lanky features endearing in its imperfection. It gives them a distinct quality so they aren't just 'human but different ears' a'la Miqo'te. I do wish they were a bit less awkward in their shoulders, though.

It is rather lazy, and they would be better served going through helmets and forcing that option on those that cannot work with the heads. Tiaras should be fine for either race, viera should be able to wear stuff that covers the face while Hrothgars should be able to wear stuff that sits on top or behind the head. Honestly I am sure people wouldn't mind so much there being bunny ears clipping through as if they had holes cut for them. I get how glasses have nothing to hang their ear pieces on - but that was already true of Miqo'te. And with the au ra horns there's really no excuse given they get to wear helmets and theirs is even more ridiculous than hrothgars wearing them! If ANY race shouldn't be able to wear helmets it's the Au ra. You can't cut out a hole for those horns, you'd have to cut out a gap and slide the helmet on that way.

The one coping mechanism I have is that it means we'll get to see the very distinct features (bunny ears, hrothgar head) of both races more often. But it'll suck for so much helmet/headwear accessories they won't let you wear.

There's some really nice chokers in this game that complement their neck

I played a male elezen for all of ARR and HW, and I honestly never noticed the neck issue until I tried out leveling a melee/tank job. I was always a caster and most robes and coats covered it really well.

Thats what I had to do in order to fix my beyond fucked files. Worth it agreed

I hate GW2 but that being said 40% human, 16% sylvari, 16% Asura, 13% Char, 15% Norn. It's worth noting the 2 point difference to Norns. I can't find the gender breakdown for that or wow but I think while you will always have far less people playing the beast race it will not be irrelevant numbers wise. Just always in a distinct minority. Still, imagine if you catered entirely to the majority populace: The Horde would be blood elves, the alliance humans and night elves (blew my mind to see how rarer Draenei are to nelves). I might not regularly see a hrothgar ingame just like I tend to not see elezen and roegadyn compared to humans, au ra and miqo'te. But I'll be glad when I see them because they will stand out.

They should just do body slider/adjusters and then offer various colored and shaped fox, wolf, cat ears and tails for people to cosplay with. Nobody would care about Viera if you could make a male viera art style highlander then slap some ear-accessory on him that makes his regular ears disappear. What level are you? It gets less bad at higher levels. It's still slow I am sure (I haven't done wow in forever) but it's agony at low levels, tolerable at 60-70.

the first one is black mage, which to be fair is sort of a weird class and not to everyone's tastes
if you're interested in a lower gcd every melee class but dragoon has an effectively permanent haste buff

none of the eye colors are going to be bright glowy like you can do in some other games. even the brightest tones are a bit subdued. this is the best I could find for orange to my personal taste. The one above it is nice too. My advice would be to play around with skin, hair, and eye colors to enhance the look of the eyes.

While some of the bitching about Hrothgars was because it took the male viera spot (in actuality female viera took the female hrothgar spot, was never going to be any male viera), there is a very valid issue with their hunched over posture that every fucking beast or 'savage' race (Hi orcs until recently) always get. If it was more svelte Kimhari/Ronso then people would mind it less.

I'll roll one but highlander has been probably the best MMO "Strong natty and muscular but not neanderthal brawny" race I've encountered. I really like the balance it has. I can only imagine how miserable I'd have been without it, but I guess I would have gone Elezen since it's closest to that.

Another question I have is that I like having Alts in MMO's and mixing certain character races and looks with certain classes.

I'm going to spare you a long story on DRG but I played it ARR and HW and SB 4.0 but have switched largely to SAM and RDM. Listen to on the other classes I can't speak to. DRG's predecessor, Lancer, is living agony. It is very hard to push through it.

RDM (Magic with a tiny bit of melee) has dual-cast. Any time you cast a 2.5~ spell your next spell is instantly cast. So instead of 5 seconds for 2 abilities you cast 2 abilities in 2.6~ seconds, depending how fast your finger is.

SAM has an ability/combo that decreases cast time by 10% which makes for something like 2.2~ seconds attacks.

A lot of people compare RDM to a rhythm game as you do your very simple rotation and respond/pivot to different abilities depending on what procs. You weave in two off global cool down abilities (Contre sixte, Fleche) through your abilities. I am never left waiting around to do something on RDM the way I am on DRG.

Samurai isn't as fast as RDM but I feel the most fun playing it because of how you have many separate rotations you can weave through and vary it up. to try and keep it simple:
-You gain 3 tokens from your 1-2-3, 1-4-5, 1-6 combos.
-You gain Kenki (After lvl 62) from any weapon ability
You spend tokens on 1 of 3 attacks, a DOT an AOE and a big dick single target attack
You spend Kenki on 4 abilities, 1 a swirl AOE, one a linear AOE, 1 a single target burst, one is kinda worthless.

So you're not slaving away at the 2.5GCD following the exact same rotation endlessly.
Problem is you have to be level 50 to be able to try either of those classes.

Until you are level 50 try
-Ninja (You get mudras, which are combo spells. Fuck up a combo and you get smacked for it. The combos are 0.5s)
-Monk (highly reliant on positionals, I hear it's pretty intensive work)

But if you want PVP you are fucked, if you want alts you are super fucked. You gotta go through the ENTIRE MSQ again on it. There's a reason they pic related you with literal DLC to skip the MSQ (I think it's 12 dollars on sale right now) or level up a class (18 dollars on sale from 25). Of the two if you really wanted to be a good goy I'd sooner buy the skip the MSQ of ARR than I would the level potion. You can grind on Palace of the Dead (and want to kill yourself) to 50. ARR's story is awful until 45ish, then it gets awful again after the Garlean war until the Crystal braves ends.

I hope they saw what happened to BLU and decide limited jobs was a failure. I agree. This thought is paradoxical because it would make a limited job into a 150% job, but the limited nature should have been an auxiliary augment, not the main point of it. BLU becomes a conventional class in conventional dungeons but in pre-made groups or in open world it behaves as it currently does. It could work similar to other limited classes. Beastmaster is limited to 3 or so beast options for instances (I know they SHOULD make it unlimited, but this is being realistic with what SE would do) but can field/control any beast in the wilds. Puppetmaster quite frankly shouldn't be limited at all. They can easily make that shit a full class.

For example, Job quests could have pulled double shift by just being a list of what you need to learn and where to learn them to complete it, then the reward be a major skill you can pick up. I play with controller on PC and I main healer. The targeting is slightly slower but it's never been a big enough of an impact to prevent me from doing any content. People clear savage with controller all the time.

PS$ runs the game at the highest setting so you're automatically better then what like 70-80% of PC players in terms of running the game. The high resolution/frame rate players are a small minority compared to the laptop PC players.

Use the name generator until you see something you kinda like then change a few letters.

If you're playing a male suncat it will generate "Tia" surnames - do not use these as it is essentially synonymous with "beta".

I can help you with that if you want, but for starters - decide what race you want to be, then consider if there is an analogous real life culture to that race. There are cases where you need to, if you want lore friendly name, follow the non-real life culture of that race. Miqo'te with their letter + ' + rest f the name and other shit. Google "Miqo'te names" or "Lalfell names" for them. Google it for every other race, really, except hyur and highlander.

Roegadyn has specific rules but as we don't have a list of all Roegadyn words, you can bullshit up some more yourself. Roegadyn reminds me of Dutch, maybe Germanic or Scandinavian or even Welsh names with the lack of vowels between a lot of consonants. Hellsguard seem to have names very native American-y. "Tall Mountain" "Spinning Blade" and so on.

Au ra - Just use Mongolian (Xaela) or Japanese (Raen) names. Will cover how to do this next post.
Hyur/Highlander - read what they say but personally I'd vary it depending on where you are in Eorzea. You could run with a more middle eastern name if from Ul'dah or Thavnair or Dalmasca. You'd be clearly Japanese if Hingashi/Doma. Eorzean at large and it's supposed to be Celtic-British-Anglo-Saxon (Hyur) or Germanic (Highlander - Ilberd is Albert for instance).

The backloaded gain of abilities is a valid criticism though. Its incredibly dull to be mashing 2 keys for 20/30 levels and is one of the biggest turn offs (alongside the slog that is 2.0-2.5) for new players.

Now how to do it. Collect a list of first names, and a list of surnames. Separate ones. Do this either by:

1) Googling [insert RL culture/ethnicity/race] names or Follow the naming conventions unique to Miqo'te, Lalafell, Roegadyn. Compile a list of unique names from that, or google miqote name generator, lalafell name generator, ect.

2) Collect any name that you have the mildest fancy for. Not the perfect name, but any name that stands out. Aim for more than 10 names per list, you could go up to 20 or even more. Do this for first name and surname.
3) Go through one list, then the other, pruning names that fail the cut. Try these tests to see what names you don't like
>What does the name shorthand to - Einvaldr shorthands to Ein. Sigeweard shorthands to Sig/Sige.
>What does the name sound like said out loud and what does it sound like in your head. Is it easy to mispronounce or do you like how it sounds if mispronounced? This is the "How would your kid with this name get bullied in elementary school" technique.
>Does the name risk sounding the same to something else, something you don't like?

4) Prune it down to 3-5 names. Do the same for last names.
5) List each first name with each last name like so:
Leofric blahblahblah
Leofric durhurdur
Leofric mehmeh
Eadmund Blahblahblah
Eadmund durhurdur
Eadmund mehmehmeh
ect.

Then you just prune through that final combined list and find the combo of first name + last name you like.
